    Hi Ted, thanks for your inspiring and positive videos! I have a question about the size of the image: the printify template is 900x600px and later on Canva you enlarge it to 2700x1800 px. Doesn't it have to stay at 900x600 for printify to accept it? Or do you do it this way for each of your items (shirt / candle /...)? Thanks a lot for your answer! I'm looking forward to your next video!

You mentioned if the customer pays with payPal it can take up to 21 days for me to get paid...did I hear that correctly? So does this mean we should have a line of credit or cash up front to do this business. I have zero funds at the moment so hoping not to put myself in a position where I have to front any money...maybe I should just be an affiliate marketer?

    Hello Sarah, just 2 technical questions.
    1. As I understand from your video, Printify charges your credit card when an Etsy customer buys something. Is it okay, but does Etsy create an invoice for that customer automatically or do you need to create an invoice for the purchase manually every time?
    2. What happens if the customer has any problems with the goods (for example, if a broken item arrives or the product doesn't arrive)?

    • @WholesaleTed
      @WholesaleTed  Год назад +28

      1) You don't need to create an invoice for the customer? Etsy does that 🙏
      2) You always need to replace faulty products. Ask the customer to take a photo of it and submit it to Printify. They will send a new replacement free of charge 🙏

      I do have assistants but you don't need one in the beginning. There isn't a lot of work to do, because the POD apps & Etsy take care of most of it for you. It's standard to not offer returns for products that are printed on demand for customers, so I'd usually recommend not offering it. I do offer it, but it is rare that anyone does use it, so I don't mind absorbing the cost.

      You usually offer no refunds for products that are made to order if they aren't faulty. I offer them because I know from experience that refunds for change-of-mind are minimal, if you sell clothing that runs true-to-size. Offering it helps customers feel a bit more secure. But they very rarely use it. However, most Etsy sellers don't and it probably has no impact on their sales, tbh. It's not expected and it's not normal to offer it.

      At 11:21 I addressed this. With a credit card, you can use leverage to do this for free. You put a credit card on file. The card will be charged the cost of the product. You have 4-5 weeks to pay off your credit card bill. Etsy pays out each Monday (can be changed to quicker payouts if you prefer). You use that money they pay you to pay off the credit card bill, well before it's due. You never have to pay anything with cash. You just use leverage 🙏

    I heard that the listings in etsy are to be paid every 4 months! Does that mean that if you upload let’s say 20 items on your Etsy shop and let’s say you got a promo code to upload them for free, and 4 months pass, would you have to pay for those items listing after the period of 4 months and every 4 months afterwards?

    • @WholesaleTed
      @WholesaleTed  Год назад +2

      Yes, but you can just select to not have listings automatically renew. That way, in 4 months time, you can just have the listings that have made you money renew, and let the ones that don't expire. It's only 20 cents for a listing for 4 months. It's very cheap.

    Hi Sarah, thank you for your beautiful videos! I want to start my first online store but I am a little confused about the profit calculation in your video. What about the shipping costs? They are almost the same amount of the item so if you want to make a 40% profit on a candle you will have to sell it for 25USD not 19 but of course if the price is too high no one will buy it. Other examples I am looking at are canvas and water bottles. Impossible to make a profit because they are so expensive on printify plus shipping costs... I can't understand how can people sell personalised items for so cheap. They must get them from somewhere else. What am I doing wrong? What am I missing?

    • @WholesaleTed
      @WholesaleTed  Год назад +6

      I've met a lot of new sellers that, like you, assume that if they charge an additional cost for shipping, customers won't buy from them. But that assumption is not true 🙏 these sellers charge extra for shipping, I charge extra for shipping too. I don't include it in the calculations, because the customer covers the cost, so it cancels itself out. Almost all personalized items on Etsy are sold with massive markups, their profits can be even higher than these that I've shared here 🙏

    • @WholesaleTed
      @WholesaleTed  Год назад +7

      That's sort of true: everyone offers free shipping for orders $35+. If customers are spending $35+ with you, and they trigger the Etsy free shipping option, then they're buying 2+ items. This means that even though you are absorbing shipping costs, you're still profiting 10-20%+ usually because:
      1) Most items would still be profitable even if shipping costs were absorbed (see the calculations I've directly shown in this video)
      2) Your shipping costs don't stay the same per-item. Each add-on item is priced at a lower shipping costs with your POD provider, further increasing your margins.

    • @WholesaleTed
      @WholesaleTed  Год назад +3

      You can do that without a pro subscription:
      1) You can just make the canvas 3x the size of the template
      2) You can use free ai tools online to make the background transparent, if your item needs it to be transparent (unlike candles)
      It's just easier and faster for most people to get the free pro 30 day subscription, but if you'd prefer to do it this way, that also works!

    • @WholesaleTed
      @WholesaleTed  Год назад +3

      That is unfortunately false information that a lot of RUclips videos were made around. In the Canva Create FB group, one moderator, who doesn't even work for Canva, stated this. People immediately made RUclips videos saying "look - you can't use Canva graphics in POD designs, this one moderator said so." Within a week, Canva deleted that post and released a statement confirming that yes you could, and also pointed out that the TOS directly state you can, and have always said that. They also said to never listen to someone who isn't hired by Canva and to instead listen to their staff who have always confirmed that yes, yes you can. I am surprised that when people saw this moderator, that they made so many videos restating her incorrect false information, rather than trusting the actual Canva license team employees. As a result, this false information is now believed by a lot of people. It's an unfortunate situation 🙏
