  • Taryl's month-long Halloween how-to marathon concludes with, "A Nightmare In Podunk". Taryl goes over how to fix a Husqvarna RZ 4621 Zero Turn mower that won't drive but prior to the fix, Slippers attends Taryl's annual Halloween party although he wasn't invited! Through a series of unfortunate events, Slippers becomes Kerwin Krueger, master of dreamland. Be sure to watch before and after the how-to for the full story on "A Nightmare In Podunk" and see if Taryl and Junior can over-power Slippers in his own world. Now There's Your Dinner!!

First off I want to say that this is the FIRST person to figure out why a tensioning spring would break on this type of Husqvarna zero turn and to explain how to fix it. After sending my mower to a "qualified dealer/repair" shop who subsequently left my mower out in the elements all winter while "awaiting parts", I finally got the mower back in the spring and within 2 minutes of operating it i hear a "ping" and the drive levers stopped working and the mower stopped moving. Stumped and a little angry, I then took it to another "qualified dealer/repair" shop and they replaced the broken tensioning spring, sure that they had found the problem and sent it back to me. 2 minutes of use, another "ping" and the drive stopped again. The new spring had metal fatigue at the break point, like how a wire hanger would look if you twisted it back and forth until it broke. I now figured the spring wasn't the problem, it was something else, but what? After studying the exploded diagrams from parts dealers online and not really coming up with much of a reason for the spring failure, I happened across Taryl's odd video and there it was, the answer, and the solution. i think the first qualified dealer/repair shop, having left the unit outdoors for an entire Maine winter, probably with the seat tilted forward to protect the seat from cracking with water/ice that would accumulate, allowed water to get into my typically garage kept mower's chassis and seize up the tensioning arm bushing. Fixed it just the way Taryl described except no grease fitting and it works perfectly. Watch the video; he knows his stuff!!!

Husqvarna makes the Best Chainsaw on the Market, I have a Chainsaw that is about 30 years old, it has never failed to run and never been in the shop and has the Original Spark Plug. I have went through many chains and a couple of Bars but that's about it. Probably have cut several semi loads of wood with this saw, I have never had any kind of engine last and Perform like this.

If you can find someone getting rid of an old trampoline, take it. There’s a lot of springs on a trampoline and those springs work great on lawnmowers. If I need the spring to be longer I just bend a welding rod and make an extension for it. I’ve used them on mowers for years.
