  • Whale watching on labor day! If you've watched my other videos you'll recognize the Bryde's whale breaching, the kelp forest, anchovies and the underwater bottlenose dolphin shots since I posted those highlights separately already. This day was exceptionally clear underwater so I took almost nothing but underwater shots.
In this video there are several species of young fish under kelp paddies, a couple Bryde's whales (we saw more than I recorded), a tuna boil (all that splashing), anchovies, Offshore Bottlenose Dolphins, Risso's Dolphins, a harbor seal (if you have sharp eyes you'll see it swim by in the kelp forest), and California Sea lions.
Seeing a Bryde's whale breach was a pretty big deal! These whales are tropical visitors to our area so they're already fairly uncommon if not rare to see and they don't breach often so to see one breach as many times as this one did was pretty cool.

Haha It sure does! There were some fishers around looking to catch one for eating themselves while we were there. Pretty difficult to catch though - crazy fast fish when they want to get going
