Adventures of three Roommates out and about in the world. Maybe a lot of whale watching too.
Transient Killer Whales: CA140s
I haven't been able to go record much at all this year and this is all I recorded of my single whale watching trip of 2024 since I was more interested in just relaxing and enjoying the trip. We were lucky to come across the CA140s near Santa Rosa Island. Interestingly the matriarch of this group, CA140 Emma, is the mother of the matriarch of the other pod of transient orcas I've recorded (CA140B Louise).
Present in this is CA140 Emma, CA140C Ben, CA140D Olivia and unnamed CA140E. They traveled mostly during our time with them but did get a little social for a short while and even scared a poor little Minke Whale (which escaped unharmed).

Big video! Saw a ton of wildlife on this trip so I didn't wanna cut it down too much. This is also the first time I can share a Humpback whale mugging! Mugging in this case is a good thing if you're a wildlife appreciator since it means you're stuck there until the whale decides to leave. This one made multiple circles around the boat, spy hopped, would just float behind us and even started pla...
Rare ETP Killer Whale Encounter
Просмотров 1,4 тыс.10 месяцев назад
I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to meet a different group of Killer Whales than the ones before! This group (Eastern Tropical Pacific Orcas) are known to roam the tropical waters of Mexico and Central America but they were making a rare visit up into southern California for about a month. ETPs are well known for being more friendly and dolphin-like in their behavior with boats as the...
Sunset at Waikiki Beach

Sunset one evening seen from Waikiki Beach on the island of Oahu. This is one of the busier beaches but still has beautiful views if you don't mind the people. Sorry for the skips in the footage - Gopros overheat when recording at high quality for long periods of time so it shut off multiple times due to that. As mentioned in the previous Hawaii video - the island of Maui is suffering from a de...

A few timelapse clips from the Nu'uanu Pali Lookout point on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. The neighboring island of Maui suffered a major wildfire that took many lives and leveled the town of Lahaina. If you're able, please consider donating to some of these organizations to help the island residents get anything they need both immediately and in the long term. A petition to precent mega corpo...
Killer Whales: The Hunt

A sort of highlight version of the full hunt! This still doesn't include all of the fun shots but it covers a pretty good chunk if the full nearly one hour version is a bit too much for you. This, like the other killer whale videos I've posted, features CA140B Louise, CA140B1 Stinger, CA140B2 Bee, CA140B3 Buzz and CA23A2 hunting a Common dolphin. The full hunt took place over 2 hours with a lot...
Killer Whales Hunt a Common Dolphin (full)
Просмотров 322Год назад
An extremely lucky encounter and my first time seeing wild Killer Whales (or Orcas - whichever term you prefer). This is a hunt so if animal death or predation events make you squeamish this may not being the video for you. This group of Killer Whales are known to the California Killer Whale Project as CA140B Louise, CA140B1 Stinger, CA140B2 Bee, CA 140B3 Buzz and CA23A2. Louise is the mother t...

This is a Black-bellied Plover in non-breeding plumage. Good video!
Thank you!! I'll update with that info
Awesome 🐋🐳 whale 🐳
It gives perspective on just how immense that animal is.
It does! One of the hardest things when filming any of these animals is giving perspective on how large they are
This is the best blue whale footage I've seen yet. When it's close to the surface, you can really get a scale on how huge he/she is, because you know roughly what size those wave light refraction lines are 3:29 thereabouts, so you see how many of them lace across the animal's side, and see how ridiculously HUGE this animal is!
Whaling Must Stop 🛑 anyone actively hunting these beautiful majestic creatures must cease and desist immediately! I'm horrified that people would even think of hurting a beautiful gentle creature like that.
Huuuge
Beautiful, beautiful whale. God is amazing
This was so beautiful. What I'd give to have been that up close to a blue whale and just watch it pass by.
It was incredibly lucky. I think about that whale often still even though it's been two years since this happened
Very beautiful dolphins
Thank you!
@@WMMtravels your welcome
I love those beautiful cetaceans
Same - my favorite to come across any day on the water.
What an amazing animal I’m wondering if you have the part 2 posted because I remember the whale swimming up to you I never knew a blue whale can be as curious and playful as a humpback
There's a couple parts up! c: I should hopefully be getting the full trip video together to upload soon. Yeah - we were all surprised. Most people on the boat with me work on other whale watching boats (some nearby and others up in Monterey) and no one had seen one act like that. Normally they're pretty aloof since they're hyper focused on getting food.
@@WMMtravels I mean I get we have parts 1 3 and 4 but we are missing part two Have you upload because I remember that whale swimming up to you
The side fins on a blue whale are 12 feet long and its tail flukes are 25 feet across get your tape measure out and pull it to these lengths to truly see how massive this wonderful mammal is!!!
The blue whale has the second largest eyes on earth at 10 inches in diameter the giant squid has the largest eyes at 18 inches! They also have the largest lungs in the world they can hold their breath for an hour or more thats what makes them so elusive because once they do a deep dive they are gone!
So glad they took this video off of private! I've been trying to watch it again for a year or so!
Is their fate already lost? Will they be gone forever?
Thanks for showing us this beautiful place! Now I want to move here.❤
It was a very cozy little town!!
Common ocean ungulates
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. Thank You.

Propeller marks so sad
All the scars on this dolphin are what are called rake marks. They’re made by the teeth of other dolphins during social interactions (could be positive like playing or negative like dominance disputes). Propeller marks on cetaceans are deeper and more spread out. They heal as larger raised scars on their bodies.
Yeah, same scars l wear.
Poor thing is so scratched up
It’s definitely had a lot of interesting interactions to gain all those scars. most dolphins have a few but this is one of the more heavily scarred common dolphins I’ve seen.
Cap'n Fishless Cruises. Didn't see a thing.
Incredible footage. You feel for the dolphins but at the same time you can't help but admire the hunting prowess of the orcas.
For sure. It was an impressive hunt to watch with both sides giving their all and thousands of other Common Dolphins did escape successfully to see another day at least. ❤
GREAT

What a big fin
It just never gets old... seeing them in numbers, working together as a family unit... the bond they have is on a level that many of us will just never truly understand.
Right?? This group was especially interesting to watch since four were directly related (mom and three daughters) but the fifth was an unrelated whale that spends time with them sometimes.
Title Killer Whales Underwater..lmao😂where else ?
Nice, if I weren't completely drunk, I would believe this was real.
Dolphins are toothed whales.
Yep! 'All dolphins are whales but not all whales are dolphins.'
So beautiful and relaxing ☺️
Glad you think so! <3
What was it which 1 🐳
This one featured is a Fin whale. c:
That's the most incredible thing I ever seen
It was pretty incredible conditions. c:
So pretty!
Thanks Adam 🤙
Imagine seeing a brownish orange giant fin come out of the sea in the beach and you think it's a shark 💀
LOL can confirm it would be terrifying. Had a bottlenose dolphin sneak up on me while swimming at Tybee Island. All I saw was a big gray dorsal fin maybe three feet from me. ☠Soul 100% left my body in that moment.
@@WMMtravels lol 💀
That aint no bottlenose
I love mola molas because they look like they simultaneously know nothing and everything
They do hahahaha 🤣
Sorry pal those are Orcas, killer whales !!!
Gorgeous footage!
Thanks! c:
What say ye, oh wise and noble sunfish. Speak forth out of thy lips a blerp or bloop.
Only the wisest stare, noble mola's wisdom too great to be put into words
