Understandably you are far more picky about vid quality particulars than any of us viewers. I have to struggle to discern the detail changes you are referring to typically.
@aidrivr The AI's cautiousness, perceived as poor driving, might actually be its anticipation of unpredictable events, like other drivers speeding or breaking laws. It sensibly drives slower than average humans, who often disregard these potential risks. So, I wouldn't put to much emphasis on people honking because you're driving slow.
One thing to add to the Ai is that if it learn where the marking are. Or it has a built in map and from there it shows everything to which he gain its logic.

The new aspect ratio is actually better for most smartphones nowadays, because most of them are 20:9 or 21:9 now. As a 20:9 smartphone user I must say that the 2:1 ratio is the best, because it just barely doesn't cover the front camera notch, which is perfect. It’s interesting how an AI driver is essentially an automated unit tester for the San Francisco road system. It’s excellent at finding all of the road areas that need to be improved!
I think currently this is a bad idea because the moment you get comfortable is most likely when it will make a mistake (as shown in this video). We are at a crossroad between bad drivers and people who are relying on technology (camera's/huds/parking sensors etc). Ironically the best time for this tech will be if/when all cars are self-driving, Because it could be programmed to optimise speed/spacing and communicate with other cars. Of course there are unpredictable things like extreme weather and animals/people walking in front without warning.
Im a new viewer (fan) and just wanted to say how much I appreciate all the effort youve put into this recording setup. By far the best one out there and your full commentary takes it to the next level. You have by far the best content of your kind.
these are such easy driving scenarios compared to a city like Boston. This level 2 cruise control is lightyears away from being a reliable "robotaxi". the gulf between this version and far safer than a human in all situations is monumental. And oh, cameras alone cannot see around objects. end of story.
Mine keeps changing lanes incessantly even on chill mode with “minimal lane changes” enabled - it’s making good progress but don’t feel I can let it do its thing for very long yet. Today had a super fast jerk to the left out of nowhere freaked me and everyone else out. Had to take control. Still… progress.
I actually like the wind noise in the background. Gives the video a nice atmosphere, kind of like you are really there. And I love the idea of a honk counter 😄
interesting point - it's a bit like AIDriver added a music track as background to the commentary, but used a "wind noise" ambient selection - one that happened to be synced to the video. Not a bad idea, really - it's less distracting than other music selections, which is useful for those of us trying to gauge FSD's progress. And still works when he has the windows rolled up in the rain! ... wind noise ambient that wasn't synced to the vid would be a fun way to mess with our minds ... 😉
Fsd saw that area to the left of the Amazon delivery van as a sidewalk; it appeared to me. My favorite comment In the video was the autopilot knew the other car would stop when it made the holeshot around the delivery van at the end of the video. 😅 that's fricken awesome when we start assuming its intelligence level is that high. I let it miss an off-ramp on purpose to see how it fixed the route. My passenger looked at me like I lost my mind and said I couldn't believe you let it do that. I said I was just wondering what it was thinking. They laughed and said it was a car. It doesn't think! I laughed and said then how is it? We were still riding along while it's making every decision? I'm a robotics mechanic and everyday I except the car to be perfect in it's execution of some beautiful smooth lane change off a cliff. I feel confident ill be fine with the mistake as long as it did it well. Great video again, and I like the video sizing and layout.
When I imagine going through those streets for the first time, I'd be making much more mistakes and taking more time to make a decision. This FSD drives like a local. That's very impressive. The moment Tesla tried to change lanes in the middle of intersection was so cocky, I'd only do that being local and very confident. My mind is blown
I really like the wider aspect ratio To be honest wouln’t it be better to upload shorts and long format videos to the same channel? And also you can use descript to make auto captions for your shorts
To everyone watching right now. We are witnessing history in the making. Once FSD is solved we will look back and just appreciate all the work that everyone has been putting into this massive project. Great video man
Why on gods green earth are there so many stop signs in San Fran? We generally in Australia have give way (yield) signs or roundabouts. Stop signs are generally rare for hard to navigate or dangerous intersections. It must be so frustrating to have so many stop signs. The fact there’s California roll means the rules are wrong.
As a German I just about died when your car just cut through the intersection ignoring the through traffic, that was insane. Guess it was mostly just following the car in front of you? Totally unacceptable ... unless you're US urban drivers, then its just another monday lol --- on the other hand, the car finding its way out of the parking lot despite completely wrong mapping data is kinda impressive! The indecisive turn signals annoy me as well, and I'm just a viewer. As for your feedback: I wouldn't even have noticed if you hadn't pointed it out - the difference is just not that large. The black bars + wide resolution are fairly common in media and movies, so it's not that big of a deal. Your editing and video structure are what's important, and you're doing it wonderfully! although it's unfortunate your camera died at the end - the outside view is a bit jittery so it's less comfortable to watch than the inside camera. Audio is fine, I like that I can hear all the stuff going on around you, more immersive that way.
Yep, you can pull it off on a motorbike when you can aim at the lanes you're turning towards before you stop and have a tonne of acceleration when the light changes, but you probably shouldn't 🤣 In all seriousness it does appear like the oncoming cars weren't paying attention, so the first driver sent it. Autopilot certainly didn't understand the nuance of the situation
Slightly odd comment here: how is this supposed to adapt to other driving cultures/laws worldwide? Is Tesla expecting it to or are they going to limit which version drives where?
Self driving bèta can only be used in North America currently, and tesla adapted the software for these types of roads. I live in europe, where, as you say, driving culture and traffic rules are vastly different (in fact, I don't think EU rules even allow fsd vehicles). When fsd goes intercontinental, tesla will probably adapt the software for different types of roads.
@@lukesepter3250 Hey, thanks for explaining that! I have been watching FSD videos for over a year now but in no video ever have I heard or catched that the FSD beta is released only in North America! I always thought the beta is being tested in Europe and maybe other continents too. Well, if it's like that then Tesla will have to re-teach the beta almost everything anew when it gets released in India :)
@Sebas Tian here in the Netherlands, autopilot on highways and clear b roads is the most advanced autonomous driving we get from tesla, which is basically adaptive cruise and auto steering and auto lane switching on indicating. In that sense, tesla also doesn't have that much of a market lead here compared to other brands in self driving territory. For example, I have driven Nissans (leaf, x-trail, ariya) that performs similarly, and nissan is also able to detect roundabouts and stop-start traffic on b roads etc. in the adaptive cc and automatically adapts its speed for them. Don't know how tesla performs in that sense, and I'm also curious about the progression of tesla fsd over here. And yes I can imagine tesla will have to re-arrange a few things for Indian infrastructure😂
Great job with everything you do from the editing to the commentary. As for the aspect ratio, I didn't even notice it until you said it but it perfectly fills my phone, Samsung GS9 screen
We don't need to see empty sky, so wider aspect ratio is better in almost all cases. Since the actual camera FoV is much wider than the angle subtended by the screen when we watch, the wider aspect ratio helps the brain more easily interpret it, especially the 180deg view of the pole cam. I hate shorts on RUclips.
By far the most entertaining content on FSD and even on youtube as a whole right now! Could the new visualisation be the Busses? At 4:40 the bus is not displayed as the usual semi!
With all the bad press SF has been getting lately it’s nice to be reminded of how gorgeous The City can be. Lived there in the 70s and always glad for a reason to be back. Thanks for virtually transporting me.
@@kempo_95 Yeah I sometimes like to wave my gf's boobs around when I'm selling lemonade too.. so yeah, if the point of the "short" videos made for mobile phone kiddie addicts is more temporary youtube cash for OP then fair enough.. :)
It’s always a great day when you post a new video :) Regarding the shorts, other creators split a wide view into top and bottom, so for shorts you could have the visualization on the bottom half of the video and the normal view on the top? (Without overlaying the visualization) Just a thought for how to get around the handcuffs they put on you regarding the aspect ratio. Or maybe visualization paired with the third person view? Either way, your videos are amazing, keep up the great work!
19:12 that's an offal snapshot to send back. Thats exactly what I would want my car to do especially in aggressive mode, as this is. can I suggest switching to normal if the intention is to match robo taxies or to have a smooth ride instead of "aggressive"
By the way, the exterior camera is more suitable for intersections and areas with more cars. In contrast, the interior camera is better for small streets as it provides a clearer view of the steering wheel. This is my personal opinion, but I think it's a good idea! Also, I love yours videos!
Holy shit You got so many stop signs there It would drive me crazy if we have had so many in my hometown in Russia That’s totally inconvenient imo but may be it is slightly safer. We have more lights on intersections and main/yield signs. Or circle intersection where circle itself is always primary
I quite enjoy the 2:1 ratio! Great vid as always :) Edit: it would be nice if you could duck or mute the audio when the internal camera dies. Those beeps were quite high pitched and unpleasant, especially in headphones.
Love this stuff man! Also an odd question, but I’ve been trying to figure out how to get this 2:1 ratio, how do you do it? Any different aspect ratio in camera as well?
Seems like one of the improved visuals is human walking animations. Love the aspect ratio. Favourite thing though, is the audio - love hearing the cars pass by. Somehow the lighting is better than previous vids, too (though that might just be the time of year). Very high quality. Happy to be a Patreon!

Haven't noticed anything different with aspect ratio watching on mobile phone, so I guess it's good if it gets you more views because you deserve it ;) Love the new counters, honk counter could be a great and funny new addition. I'm always happy to see a new video from you even thought it's "long" because I know I will watch it until the end and won't be bored even a second. Keep up the amazing work! Thank you! Best regards from Croatia :)
Andy, thank you so much for this video! 11/10! Liked and subscribed! My wife and kids travelled many of those streets in a minivan in 2002. It brought back some great memories! That was some crazy aggressive driving at the beginning, very impressive. Sorry to repeat questions that may have been already asked abs answered, but… what year Tesla MS is this? Did you buy the full self driving or do you rent option? How are you getting the rearview of the car is it a camera sticking out of the trunk? I thought I noticed something. The overlay graphics are absolutely incredible. I love all the info you put up on screen! I don’t think you could’ve overlaid this any better than you did. It’s amazing! Sorry for rambling 😅
Was in a Cruise car a couple weeks ago and it did the exact same left turn from Divisadero to Lombardt almost hitting a Vespa rider. Something about that intersection really messes with self driving
New intervention and disengagement indicators are excellent! Maybe put a summary with all 3 (incl. honks) at the end (could be green if 0), so the location is consistent across future videos
New aspect ratio looks great! I have the same annoyance with the turn signals. New FSD looks promising though. I notice you never get nags? You keep your hand on the wheel this whole time?
I didn't actually notice the slim black bars on my 16:9 TV until you mentioned the change in resolution. Since the change is very minor I'd say it's ok for a while. 17:15 since you mentioned audio: I'm pretty sure you have audio channels inverted for this recording. I actually had to check if I was wearing my headphones correctly since I was hearing the left passing cars on my right ear... and the the right side passing motorcyclist at 17:15 on my left ear... The big truck pulling up to your left at 18:04 being heard on the right pretty much confirms it.
Excellent update and some really wild behaviors. It is great to see it improving over time. I love the new aspect ratio because I watch your videos on my TV. It overscans a bit, so on the old aspect ratio things were cut off at the edges. I noticed right away before you even mentioned it, that I could see the whole picture now.
I’m really digging the aspect ratio. One of the first things I thought of when I saw it. I like it because I don’t have to fit the picture to screen and cut off the bottom of the video, this way I can see the fsd better. Thanks man.
You do have a very distinctive plate on your Tesla so I'm not surprised people are saying hi 👍 Your veiw from in ide the car 2:1 is great and the intervention tracker.. very clear. Imo the fact that certain parts of the journey are boring is a glimpse of the future, FSD is the chauffeur that we all need for safer driving Turn signal ambiguity is a problem that needs refining for definite
My M3 tied to pull out in front of traffic coming at 60mph the other day. Paused in the middle of two lanes with a car within 100 yards. But, FSD is getting better, especially now that snow is gone. It is worthless in the snow and hard rain. Having very loud squeaking from what I thought was upper control arm ball joint ever since March 9th. Waited for thaw to make sure it was not ice. Put in service request around April 1 and mobile service not coming til mid June. So, I replaced upper control arm myself (while car is still under full warranty) Had to buy aftermarket part because Tesla online ordering is not working and they have no estimate of when it will be. Local mobile service said they would see if they can sell me the part last Friday. Still have not heard from them today Thursday. Noise is less but now is obvious was from both upper and lower control arms. Getting lots of stares as I drive this squeaking groaning mess around. I think I'll put a sign on it suggesting NOT to buy a Tesla. Customer service has sucked since even before we picked up our car in December of 2019. Thinking about canceling the Cybertruck reservation. Thanks for the space to rant.
Excellent work man! Love the binaural audio (when it's not clipping). Aspect ratio is fine, gives a wider view so more context. Keep em coming! Thanks.
Brilliant video!! I'm always so happy to see an upload from you! Ratio works perfectly for me, all I would say is maybe take the sound down a touch but otherwise, love everything you do, can't wait for pt2!
Unless it's an especially aesthetics driven video, like animations, game or movie trailers, or things like SloMo Guys stuff, I generally watch youtube without entering fullscreen mode, opting instead for theatre mode on the browser page, and so this aspect ratio actually fills MORE of my screen than I am used to and I like it quite a bit! Also this is the first video of yours I've seen in some time, and I love what you're doing, the composition of the different camera angles and HUD stuff is really neat. If FSD was allowed here, and Tesla would pay me to test it (or yknow, at least just make it not a COST for me to do), it makes me wish I could just drive about town, giving them data to make the system better, the tech is really cool though clearly still needs more time. Speaking of, I think a honk counter is totally warranted, yeah its kind of memey but also it is legitimately valuable information, any time you force another road user to respond to your actions, there's probably something you could have done better, "you" being the AI system in this case of course.
I'd vote for a return to 16:9. The difference on phones is small an people can just punch in if they are fine with losing information. But on a 16:10 or even higher computer screen the slit-view is somewhat annoying.

Oh god! You brave brave soul. Doing this in San Francisco lol Thanks for your testing and sharing with us. Looking forward to getting my Model Y soon.
15:13 I feel like FSD should recognize signs like “Authorized Personnel Only” and ask the driver to confirm.
I didn't think that was very cocky. If I had clear visibility and enough space I'd do it myself as a non-local.
I don't watch fullscreen typically, so the 2:1 ratio looks amazing in RUclips's theater/cinema mode. Props.
this vids are always relaxing while I drink my coffee. love it
5:08 Guys I think we caught the flash in action running in the right lane
4 minutes in and I’m already blown away. FSD is so close. You can feel it.
You always have great videos. I love your videos. There is no need to apologize for small things like sound quality. Thank you for your videos.
I really like the wider aspect ratio
To be honest wouln’t it be better to upload shorts and long format videos to the same channel?
And also you can use descript to make auto captions for your shorts
Would love to see a comparison video for the different aggression settings in the fsd
Did no one see that car at 15:58? What??? Some dangerous people out there.
2 video in a week 😻, we’re blessed
2:1 (18:9) looks great on my TV. Love the content and the effort you put in for your videos. Great job 👍
You snooze you lose.
19:52 Cool to see how early FSD turns the 3rd pedestrian blue. Almost like it senses the three are a group.
Love this aspect ratio on my widescreen monitor and phone.
It's feel like GTA San Andreas
not V?
Maybe point the camera up a bit more, so that the windshield doesn‘t appear so narrow. I made me feel a little claustrophobic
Loving the bigger screen, the trade off is worth it! (Aspect ratio)
By far the most entertaining content on FSD and even on youtube as a whole right now! Could the new visualisation be the Busses? At 4:40 the bus is not displayed as the usual semi!
The second these cars will start communicating between each other will make self driving really reliable and effective.
With all the bad press SF has been getting lately it’s nice to be reminded of how gorgeous The City can be. Lived there in the 70s and always glad for a reason to be back. Thanks for virtually transporting me.
I am saying this 2-4 years earlier than I thought I would say it, but: We are really getting there!
Great video, great voiceover. Thank you!
The 2:1 ratio is awesome! I watch your videos on my phone and it is full screen now, beautiful!
22:49 Humans 🙄 Beeing honked at for turning left is probably the rudest thing I've ever seen.
The Tesla can move a lot to the left though, leaving more space for other cars to pass
or it was another fan recognizing AI Driver
@@kempo_95 how would moving over like 40 cm make any difference for the passing cars?
@@RubenKelevra You can move over a meter or 2. From kerb to kerb there is space for 3 lanes. So you can move in the middle when you turn left.
Cops would have a hard time telling who's AI or drunk/stupid/high if these ever hit the road large scale.
Shorts are CRAP. Please ignore. Give us the widescreen all the time. Always. Let the mobile kiddies convert the good bits if they really want.
Shorts are how you attract new people though sadly.
@@kempo_95 Yeah I sometimes like to wave my gf's boobs around when I'm selling lemonade too.. so yeah, if the point of the "short" videos made for mobile phone kiddie addicts is more temporary youtube cash for OP then fair enough.. :)
@@kempo_95 and as far as shorts go, these kind of videos are quite suitable.
I have to say, when you speed up the footage, the sound of the sped up cars passing by is really cool.
Great Video, Great Audio and visualizations.
No problem whatsoever with the aspect ratio!
Keep it going! 👌
Holy shit
You got so many stop signs there
It would drive me crazy if we have had so many in my hometown in Russia
That’s totally inconvenient imo but may be it is slightly safer.
We have more lights on intersections and main/yield signs. Or circle intersection where circle itself is always primary
I quite enjoy the 2:1 ratio! Great vid as always :)
Edit: it would be nice if you could duck or mute the audio when the internal camera dies. Those beeps were quite high pitched and unpleasant, especially in headphones.
I do like the 1:2 aspect ratio as I usually watch it on my phone. Love your content man! Longer videos would be great too!
Love this stuff man! Also an odd question, but I’ve been trying to figure out how to get this 2:1 ratio, how do you do it? Any different aspect ratio in camera as well?
I forgot all about this channel and I'm glad I'm back because these videos are just nice to watch.
Haven't noticed anything different with aspect ratio watching on mobile phone, so I guess it's good if it gets you more views because you deserve it ;)
Love the new counters, honk counter could be a great and funny new addition.
19:20 was uncalled for disengagement. should’ve let the car do its thing.
One super important thing is the tone of your various, it's peaceful and make it appreciable to watch. Well done for the content, hard work diserved
I really like the wider resolution. Also wondering if all these drives are in assertive mode?
It's absolutely incredible how far Tesla has come.
Was in a Cruise car a couple weeks ago and it did the exact same left turn from Divisadero to Lombardt almost hitting a Vespa rider. Something about that intersection really messes with self driving
I wonder if in the future road design have to pass the ai car test before it is implemented in reality :)
the black lines are so thin on my 16:9 monitor, i didn't even notice them until you mentioned you changed the aspect ratio.
8:03 there is a white miata on the right side lol
Thanks man.
love the new counters, please count 'honks', 'awkward moves', 'overagressive moves' and things like that
You do have a very distinctive plate on your Tesla so I'm not surprised people are saying hi 👍
Your veiw from in ide the car 2:1 is great and the intervention tracker.. very clear.
Imo the fact that certain parts of the journey are boring is a glimpse of the future, FSD is the chauffeur that we all need for safer driving
Turn signal ambiguity is a problem that needs refining for definite
Crazy good editing skills, mate. I could watch an hour-long video easily.
Thank so so much Lance, truly means a lot! I've toyed with the idea of releasing a super long video, might have to give it a shot!
