Illustrator: Cut Strokes Without Making Shapes

Learn how to cut a stroke or a line in two pieces without converting the stroke to a filled shape. Many RUclipsrs show how to do this but, in the process, they convert the stroke to a shape. If this isn't what you want to do, I'll show you how to cut the stroke without converting it to something you don't want it to be. In other words, cut strokes remain strokes!

I had no idea you didn’t need to select the shape before using scissors. I’ve had so much trouble with cutting shapes in illustrator. That divide option has blown my mind. Also, the knife tool I never knew you could draw straight lines with it. Sometimes I find things counter intuitive in illustrator. I’ve been using illustrator for ages as well 😂.Thanks Helen.
