- Today we have a build for Sango from Inuyasha in Dungeons & Dragons. If you want a BIG boomerang and a fire fox, this is the way to get that done in D&D 5e.

Now you can make a 3-man group with Sango, Sokka, and Captain Boomerang; all of them use boomerangs in different ways, and all of them have a common enemy: Guy with a Bow & Arrow.
God if they could all combine to take turns catching and throw each other's boomerangs it would be like throwing Flubber into the room!

This is why we need a 'thrown weapon' subclass for the Barbarian.
As someone who has attempted a thrown weapon artificer, we just need better options in thrown weapons.
Funnily enough, Kilala is not a Kitsune but a Nekomata aka a Cat Yokai. So the Saber-Toothed Tiger you recommended would actually work thematically pretty well. Not perfectly but close enough for me and hopefully some of the other commenters here
Boomerang build 3, lets go! Wasn't expecting Kilala to be a part of the build so kudos for making this harder and still accomplishing it.
While 5e is in the process of crashing and burning, Find Steed/Greater Steed really should be added to the Ranger's spell list. May step on some subclass toes, but till this video I forgot that it wasn't.
5e is just fine. Paizo Publishing just wants you to abandon the mainstream, "Soccer-Moms In SUVs" tabletop RPG in favor of their "cooler, edgier" TTRPG... based on the mainstream choice's warmed-over leftovers. Because of a PR blunder that got taken care of and wasn't really that big of a deal to begin with.

for me.. its because i grew up with rpgs on the nes/snes in the 90s.
ALL the great one had boomerangs as weapons! Breath of Fire for instance.. boomers are some of the best weapons and the suepr hidden Trirang is argubally the best weapon in hte game except for specific bosses..

Some people take pride in genuine accomplishments, I just settle for being the first to be needlessly pedantic about which mythical creature an anime character is supposed to be.
Accuracy is overrated, I vote he follow this up with a build for Shippo, the Tanuki. The party has only one fox, and it's now Kirara
To be Fair, the one and ONLY thing he got wrong in the vid was Calling Her a Fox, the rest of the build works Exactly as Intended.... Except that I'd have Emphasized the fact that you Basically NEED to Beg your DM for a Custom Giant Boomerang weapon, With Demon Slaying Magic on it, because that's Cannon, she made it from demon Bones, which makes it Magic!

@@lyndonwesthaven6623 As far as I Remember (It's Been a while since I watched Inuyasha so Excuse me if I'm entirely wrong), Demons are completely Immune to normal weapons within the setting, it's why Demon Hunters Like Sango use weapons Made from their bones. And normal Forging Techniques don't work on Demon Bones, so it's Kind of a Secret Art of her Clan to make these weapons, Explaining why most people have a hard time against Demons and Rely on People with Sacred powers.
If we were to translate that into D&D terms, ALL Demons are Immune to normal weapons, But Weapons Made from Demon Bones qualify as "Magic" for the purposes of bypassing Damage Resistances and Immunities. It's Also kinda implied by How Sango uses her Horaikotsu that it's ability to ALWAYS come back to her is Magical, if it were made of Wood it would just Plop Back to the Floor after it hits something and it certainly wouldn't be able to Turn around and follow Kirara's Arial Maneuvers to be Caught by Sango.
It's Easy to forget that Demons are Immune to Normal weapons in the series though, since the entire Main and Supporting Cast has crap that lets them completely Bypass Demon Damage Resistances.
I mean regardless, he made it work just fine. I personally see no problems with how he handled it. Besides, dragons act like cats anyway so Drakewarden works just as well as Sabertoothed Tiger

I think kirara's a cat - more specifically a nekomata, a particularly dangerous sort of cat demon out of Japanese folklore - so the sabertooth tiger would be a good fit
I saw the Giant BOOMERANG and just laughed like an evil villain for a solid minute before starting the video. It's like a running joke just got a new and perfect punchline!

Prewatch-prediction: If using Kilala, 3ish levels of Artificer for Returning weapon and few other fun things, 15 of Drakewarden reflavoring your dragon companion furry, not sure what to do with 2 misc levels, probably dump them into Artificer and Ranger. Not having Kilala, I can see some Kensei monk, Armorer Artificer (the sneaky armor) some Fighter because maybe a splash of rogue just because.

As a DM I'm constantly letting my players know that we can reflavor things. If you want to have a throwing hammer but it be a giant boomerange, sounds good to me. Want to say that your dragon is a flying fiery two tailed cat? Yes!
RAW state that DMs get to add or subtract whatever rules they want at the table. It's in the rules that I can make the rules. The rules are there as a mechanical structure anyways, and I don't allow it to limit rp.
YES! Another Inuyasha character! I'd love to see more characters from the anime, maybe Bankotsu from the Band of Seven could be next? Although it would make sense to make videos on the main cast first.

returning weapon infusion > weapon bond
returning weapon doesn't take a bonus action, and it makes your weapon magical for overcoming resistances, etc.
that said, the ASI, action surge, and fighting style from fighter are pretty good too.....

I love this one because ive always thought Ranger works so well for a ninja. Everyone thinks Rogue (or Monk) but ninjas were taught to use nature and the environment to their benefit as much as they were taught stealth and subterfuge.

This episodes true strike bit made me smile.
How to build: Brok and Sindri from God of War Ragnarok. The Huldra Brothers are undeniably one of the most endearing merchant characters in video game history, as well as fan favorites. But how does one go about role-playing them, these are the questions I ask you tulok.
1. Brok: Custom Dwarf Cleric of the Forge Domain. So what if you ain't got all your soul bits, as the dad of boy says it's the nature of a thing that matters, not its' form.
Goals:
1. God of Forge: you built thor's hammer, then built an axe to rival it.
2. I'm Blue (da ba dee da ba die): your technically undead, with this comes custom lineage.
3. Art of Slurs: Your a craftsman of words and weapons, endearing to giants and players, but infuriating to godly assholes.
Sindri: Dark Gnome Cleric of the Trickster Domain (Multiclass Artificer) A neat freak merchant that is ready and willing to give his wears and wonders to his party.
1. Realm Traveler: You get around by traversing the unseen roads. Escaping the sight of God's and Giants, like a certain hobbit.
2. Treasures of Trickery: Fancy Compasses, Keys to other Realms, Self duplicating rings and mistletoe arrows that can turn invincible men into mortal souls. You're an endless bag of tricks with a truly thankless job.
3. Tinker: To one up your brother, take some artificery. Your focus is less on making armaments' and weapons, and more so various tools and boons to buff your party.
There's never a dull moment in any party so long as these two are present, concepts for players that want a more utility and support role that is more than just healer. Obviously these are just assumptions and observations of a player that's inexperience in crafting character builds, and would be awesome if Tulok can give it a once over.
Now for the Miroku episode.
Char-as-dump-stat is a _must!_
Now all you have too do is make Ukyo, she's literally just Sango but modern.
You've officially got us half of the team each from both InuYasha and Yu Yu Hakusho. Looking forward to those Hiei/Kurama and Kagome/Miroku double episodes I'm sure you've got coming. 😃 For now, I've got one hell of a crossover one-shot in my head.
Wouldn't Kagome be the easiest build in the entire range? Unless you tried to include the bike.

You could also pair eldrich knight's weapon bond ability with the spell catapult to launch a weapon weighing 1 to 5 pounds at high speed than summon it back. 3d8 damage, 90 foot range, dexterity save on the target's part. If I were DMing that I'd even let you add the weapon's damage to the spell. But then you'd have to invest in Int more to make that work.
One problem the damage is don't to the item as well.
For another person who is great at throwing things at her enemies (all be it more effectively), there's always Jesse Faden.

What if... Drop a bit CON, take 13 INT, 2 levels into artificier, returning weapon and mind sharpener, and reach 18 on ranger. Still a lot of levels in ranger so is bad, but now the "boomerang" really returns to your hand.
Gonna give you a challenge, you should totally make Merlin, since you made King Arthur.

Nice build! Be fun to see you tackle some characters from Ranma 1/2, the series Rumiko Takahashi did before Inu-Yasha. The main character has a changing body (though I'd imagine there wouldn't really be any way to cover the "he changes when he's hit by cold/hot water" aspect), can punch tornadoes into existence, and learns new techniques incredibly quickly, while his main rival has weird pressure point power that makes things explode (they say it doesn't work on living things but he exploded a tree with it so I assume then it just doesn't work on animals), and his powers and strength hinge on getting reeeeeeally depressed, letting him channel his emotions into a superpower (also he has another water-powered transformation like Ranma does).
The only way I can see making True Strike good is a 3 level dip in Fighter for EK as a Rogue. Cast True Strike, Surge, then get Sneak Attack.
Yes, Swashbuckling is better for this but this allows for you to play other Rogue subclasses.
This doesn't actually work because True Strike is so bad, the attack that triggers it needs to be on your next turn, I know this because I also tried to make it kinda work, I came up with a Bladesinger/Rogue but it didn't work because of what I said

I came up with an idea to make thrown weapons good
basically you mostly play as a monk and use a dagger while dipping into fighter in order to get the fighting style.
Now thanks to your martial arts die it deals more than a d4 damage and thanks to the fines property you can use your dex mod for it and go to lv4 of fighter for an asi and Eldridge knight to get weapon bond. Not trying to be snarky to you but I just came up with this randomly
We really need a way to make thrown weapons... like, not even "good" per se, just viable. I love the returning weapon from Artificer, but all that really solves is how many of them you have to carry around, not the actual damage you deal. And also Artificer mainly uses Int over Dex or Str, so that's starting to get MAD.
honestly I didn't even know there was a boomerang in any capacity in dnd... I'm gonna see if I can get a nonmagical one for my next character (since for anyone who doesn't know like I didn't... the only one is the 'storm boomerang')

Sango was a demon hunter that was betrayed and tricked to try kill Inuyasha, but after clearing misunderstandings she join the adventure to find main jerk Naraku and enact violent vengeance. swing true that Hiraikotsu boomerang and find a happy ending with your kinda womanizer husband making some great okonomiyaki, or that was on another universe?

There is one thrown weapon that can use sharpshooter, y'know. The dart. Genji build when? I'm kidding, of course. But if you want to make a character who uses shuriken or something similar, darts also have the bonus of getting to add the Archery fighting style alongside the Thrown Weapon fighting style. That's the same benefit as bracers of archery for the low low cost of either a fighter/ranger multiclass (like this build), a feat, or making a Champion.
Sorry for long comment i just love the idea of a character spamming darts as the primary form of attack.

Awesome! I think thrown weapon works better with Artificer though. Returning weapon just makes things easier, plus better armour. Not sure any subclasses would make sense though so its probably only worth a 2 level dip🤷♂️
I always thought kirara was a fire cat thing, because one episode silver leaf was lot on fire and she rolled all up in that stuff

Listen if you look at dragons across the world there’s so incredibly much variation that honestly it seems very reasonable to call a flying fire fox a dragon. Dragon is a vibe not a meaningful description.
If Pokémon can call an apple pie a dragon, Tulok can call a nekomata a dragon
Another sweet thrown weapon build. I am hoping for some fairy tail builds soon maybe, I just finished the anime and have some builds for acnologia and natsu just wanting to see how you'd build them.
I wish there was a good artificer class for her, because the returning weapon infusion is a MUCH better version of a boomerang. Some kind of weapon smith thing that is a cross between the Battle Smith and Armorer that lets you super charge a weapon. Idk
A battle smith that gets a cool weapon instead of a pet dog would be pretty slick.

Honestly, it would probably be less of a hassle to have the boomerang be anything but a thrown weapon. Maybe a cantrip.
seems on point i would of used 8 lvl in barbarian from giant ua since its confirmed were getting this year for a giant returning boomerang for any weapon then drakewarden get poisoner feat etc same r similar results

I like the True Strike cantrip. It's a targeting-spell, not unlike Hunter's Mark. Also, Drakewarden is hands-down my favorite Ranger subclass.
AND STOP WHINING ABOUT HOW YOU CAN'T MIN-MAX WITH THROWN WEAPONS. Most of us play this game to tell a story and play a role, not to solve a freaking quadratic equation when damage-calculation time comes along.

It's one thing for one to be better than another, but the sheer level of imbalance between the two is so drastic that it can't not be felt as an oversight. There is essentially no reason, at all, to ever build a Thrown Weapon character over an Archer, Crossbowman, etc., because the latter does _literally everything_ better to a very, very significant degree.
When the game's mechanics actively punish you for trying to indulge one very basic character idea as opposed to another, that's worth talking about for anyone who wants to know how playing that character might work. Which is the entire point of this channel and this series.

It doesn't at all offer the same thing as Dungeons and Dragons, it's very specifically geared towards lower fantasy and a more granular approach to things. I don't want you at my tabletop if you're GOING TO CAPS LOCK PEOPLE for pointing out an obvious design flaw in the game engine of 5e, that is relevant to the character being built in 5e, as well as apparently assume I only care about raw damage and that my problems will be solved by going to a different game engine that is both completely different and also fails to actually solve the problem in question.

I have Radiant Soul Aasimar (For the wings)
8 lvl Battle Master Fighter. (Want that Extra Attack + Action Surge)
12 lvl Evocation Wizard.
Spells:
Mostly Fire invocation spells
Divination for seeing magic
1 Summon Spell
Glyph of Warding + Catapult for those "Chord" rings she uses.
Tiny Hut + Private Sanctum for "Seal"
Mage hand and Arcane Hand for her Fire Hand thing.
Feats:
Magic initiate (Cleric) get Thaumaturgy, Sacred Flame and Protect from Evil and Good.
Charger
Slasher (Point into Dex?)
War Caster
2 ASI's into Intelligence?
Considering that the demons in Japanese Mythology are yokai, spirits of the land both benevolent and malevolent, I tend to treat them as fey. How would that effect the build?

It's a bit of a shame there's no (first party) weapon creation rules in DnD, Hiraikotsu is hard to emulate properly. I mainly play Pathfinder, and 1st edition has relatively simple rules for making it (closer to a two-handed weapon than a one-hander) but 2nd edition does not :/

Unfortunately, there is never a reason too. 5 extra damage at most is not better than a 1 level dip to other classes;
Fighter - one more fighting style
Rogue - expertise in two skills and sneak attack
Monk - 20 AC assuming capped Dex/wis and a bonus action attack that works with hunters mark
Cleric/druid: more spell slots, and great cantrips that scale into endgame for damage variety
Is true strike bad if it is a bonus action?
