Glad to help! - another option is to drill out the oil fill cap, and put the nipple through the cap - that way you're not doing major surgery on your engine! :) (use the highest oil fill location, so you don't get oil splashing up through the tube.)
Great videos brother there really helping out. I'm currently working on the same project... A frame off CL missing a motor and seat. The missing motor part is soon to change though thanks to you help lol thanks again, keep em coming.
Yes, you can. In fact the adapter/fitting I had was purchased for that type of install - but rather than having hoses run everywhere, it seemed better to have it closer to the pump. In retrospect, the best place would have been the hole in the crankcase for the governor arm. This arm is removed anyway, and the resulting hole provides the perfect spot for this - no drilling required!
We haven't actually performed any 'upgrades' yet in this series - what we've done so far is really just retrofitted some parts and fitted things in standard karting fashion. Actual upgrades will be - new intake, new exhaust (header and muffler), and stiffer valve springs - coming soon!
Naa, i'm sure the crankcase will be fine. I'm doing the governor gear and arm removal now, and man, there are a tonne of metal chips and flakes throughout the crankcase - not good! you'll see what I mean in the next episode, where I'll discuss options and alternative methods.
Just thought I'd share a retrospective thought - having done the governor removal now, the best place to mount the crankcase pulse line to the fuel pump, would have just been to use the hole that results from removing the governor arm (you can see this is my ep.3 video, where we remove the governor arm). This would have been the best and most simple location to do it, and more optimal than the valve cover options.
i see that you did everything possible to explain your building of this fine machine, but i just have two questions, because they were not explained in your video's. Why did you not just use the valve cover for the fuel pump and what did you do about that big 1/2'' hole in the valve cover?
hi. im rebuilding a 74 simplex go kart . and im thinking about relocating the cool alumn. tank. that means I need a fuel pump. I like the idea of using the governor arm hole but I might just put a tube from the valve cover to the pump . do you think that will be enough pressure?
If you're going to remove the governor. Why didn't you use the governor hole. Could have used a 90 degree elbow for your pulse. Also need to use yellow teflon tape. White is not fuel and oil resistant.
I am building a kart using a 125cc bike engine, do i need to use a fuel pump if i have the fuel tank near my knees? If so, then could you please recommend a fuel pump for a 125cc 4 stroke honda engine.
The pump is powered by the changing air pressure within the crankcase. It varies between positive and negative air pressure, which moves the diaphragm of the pump.
Not a good idea being that is why I am going this route. I get over flow from a puking value cover and oil runs back to the fuel pump and makes the engine run a little rough at times. This is the best way.
i did this mod and was only able to go 1/2 mile before too much oil was being sucked into the pump and killing the engine....this is NOT where you get the pulse from !!
When you remove the governor you could use that pre-existing hole rather than drilling a new one.
Are you sure of this? because if so I'm definitely going to do that
Yes you absolutely could I had to drill and tap mine to put a plug bolt in it

this is an excellent series .. i cant wait to start building mine!
Big help thanks for advice mate!
Is there a reason why you didn’t go to the rocker cover? And chose to drill into engine! Thanks Clive

what issues were you having with the fuel pump, and how did it help them out?
thanks Kyle that was intresting !!
Can’t you also just drill and tap the valve cover for that same fitting and not have to worry about getting any metal in the case?
thank you for teaching us! :)
Hi, I race go karts with the same style clone motor. The way you rigged the pulse is going to blow the insides of the fuel pump after about 5500 rpms
where do you like to install? often the valve cover doesnt create enough vacuum

I thing that I may use the whole that the governor arm is in for the pulse
+zacharias pap that's what I should have done :)
+Kyle Geddes Ok,thanks, one more question where can I buy that throttle plate?
Just search for go kart throttle kit or linkage - most of the good kart part shops have something.
+Kyle Geddes Ok i'll see
good video.. one question// can i use that hole on valve cover for a fuel pump like that ??
where u mount top curled short line from top of pump
no worries of course haha
Ohh it hits, my clip fell off and ended up hitting the bottom of the rod. Made some crazy noises 🤭
where did u get this throttle linkage plate
Just off another engine.. they're all similar - you may have to move some cable guides or locks around on the plate, but they are mostly all similar.
Do you have to use a tap or just put the banjo bolt straight in?

Marcus Hester good question, can i use that hole on valve cover for a pulse pump??
Is there an easier way to fit the fuel pump that doesn't involve drilling?
+JuggernuatG use the valve cover hose maybe ?

+Mike Raia should be, yep. That's a common way to go.

what part number is that fuel pump

+Ashutosh Jha yes, you'll need a pump. Any karting fuel pump should work.
im doing a mud motor do you think the valve cover is a good spot to pull from?
+Jon Hunt just as good as any i would think ;)
Where did you get that top plate from?
Awesome series. Just what I've been looking for! One question though - when (if at all) will the next videos be uploaded??
They're up now - hope you enjoy!
whens the video, I can't wait any longer !!!
Tanks man bud wen is your last video coming
Where'd you get the fuel pump? Iv ben looking every ware. and I cant find one :-(
Does the pump needs energy?
The pump is powered by the changing air pressure within the crankcase. It varies between positive and negative air pressure, which moves the diaphragm of the pump.
is that the stock carb?
It is, but at the time of this video I had an aftermarket intake installed on it.
You should have done rigged it from the top of the valve cover, and use the hole in the cover already as a over flow

Just wondering... Are you Lester from Grand Theft Auto 5 ?
+Pred 212 hah.. no do we sound similar? never played...
Kyle Geddes Yes. and almost look identical. except you dont walk around with a cane .
🤦♂️ if you're removing the governor why not tap the hole the governor arm is in and use it?!?!🤦♂️🤦♂️
fitting was a different size, or didn't have that size of tap or something, I don't recall... twas a long time ago ;)
U should have just used the whole where the gov arm went smh
Hi, I race gokarts with the same style clone motors, and as a
Would never put a fuel pump on the engine. It gets hot and will make fuel hot which you don't want .cold fuel cold air Makes for better running carts
Not the smartest peanut in the turd
Where did you get the mounting plate
