  • Fishing with wife and friends very early in the morning.Started before 4 AM in the dark .Fish are biting mosly cut Squids and I caught the big Barracuda on live Smelt that I caught.
All of the usual bay species can be caught from the pier, including but not limited to; barred sand bass, spotted bay bass, calico bass, halibut, sharks, bat rays, bonito, barracuda, croaker (several species), mackerel, shovelnose guitarfish and much more.
There are no fees or permits required and a California Sport Fishing License is not required while fishing from the pier. However, California Department of Fish and Wildlife does enforce state fishing regulations.

I went back on Labor day and caught 4 more mackerel. I brined and smoked them, very good with rice. It's always great learning and fishing with you RC.
