And he is not allowed to die until he appears in Infinity Wars Part 2 and confirms everyone's theory that he is, in fact, playing Uatu. And if Marvel DOESN'T do that, I would like to offer complimentary pitchforks and torches for when we go burn down the studio.
I can tell she wasn't a big reader of the books, but Stan was very gracious to her and never became condescending to her. and it's one of the reasons I think he's great!
Agreed..to a point. Jack Kirby was not "media material", he was by nature shy and was always hunched over his table, too busy to talk about how great he was. Stan and Jack were a team, but Kirby was left in the dust when it comes to being reimbursed for his hard work.

@ag5 I suppose we'll just have to disagree. I think that Stan has made a huge contribution to the world of comics and has been creative, important, and collaborative. This is from many interviews I have read over the past 30 years. To say that he didn't create a thing for Marvel is a pretty bold statement and one that I have seen no evidence to support. He created and co-created many characters. Not saying Jack doesn't deserver much credit - love his work too.
+Joey.T.Cartoon.P This is the exact same formula that made the classic 'Looney Tune' shorts work. The 'Termite Terrace' crew just made the type of cartoons that they would enjoy, and in the end, everybody enjoyed them. Even the kids.
since X-Men Giant #1 came out in 1975 and before that (December 1970 through April 1975) there were NO new X-Men stories I'd say hardly any were part of X-Men story lines at the time cuz there were hardly any X stories
@PSParama Thank you for being the reasonable one. Stan created or co-created many great characters. During the Sixties he was writing Fantastic Four, Hulk, DareDeviI, Iron Man, Spider-man, X-Men, Thor and others simultaneously. Marvel was struggling before Stan came along. He opened up the creative process to the artists which revolutionized the business. It doesn't mean the writers (now or then) sit on their butts while the artists do all of the work, though. It's a collaborative process.
Very interesting and definitive interview by the master of comics, Stan lee! Also very interesting to learn that the fantastic four was the 1st comic book that was published by marvel. Just recently watched the fantastic four movies directed by Tim story which they were done so expertly by Tim, perfectly reflecting the essence and the ora of the fantastic four!!!
Marvel and Stan Lee mean so much to me! Thank you to people who filmed this and I'm glad you have the same passion as me to both find ourselves here!! #Lets Make Our World a Marvelous Place.
No they didn't only 480i or less and news flash 720p didnt show up till a few years ago for TV / video anyway..only film movies were high res but Tvs couldnt do more than 480i so it didnt matter it looked fine on them.
"We try to write stories we would enjoy" And now Marvel only does that some of the time. The rest they have like... 5 Avengers titles publishing, at the same time.
I wouldn't be surprised if Stan came up with Ben Grimm and Johnny Storm after watching a Bonanza episode back in the late fifties-early sixties, The Thing and The Torch remind me so much of Little Joe and Hoss Cartwright, their bickerings as well !
@ag5 Wrong. You have no idea about how stories were written at Marvel if you make a statement like this. Read interviews with Kirby, Ditko, etc. It is true that artists were treated poorly, but that doesn't make Stan a "snake". There are hundreds of articles and interviews with various artists and there were many pros and cons to working at Marvel, but to insinuate that Stan just "put his name" on other people's work is uninformed.
I feel that DC, generally speaking was very stilted through the 60's - While Marvel was fresh, exciting & developing their books - all had a better continuity going as well. Not to mention their artists whom many book fans all know & love. When I look through my SA DC's you don't always see too many book credits on the splash page. 60's comics is all about Marvel.
Thankyou stan for sneaking in spiderman! though i'm upset about the fourth movie without tobey Nobody's heard what you have to say about it. so what do you say
RIP Stan Lee. You were an Uncle Ben to us all.
So true
He sure is
Uncle Ben is just plain Ben now, and he's no longer on rice boxes because liberals hate black people.
That got to my heart............and I'm not even related to him!
Awww, that's a wonderful thing to say! Lee was definitely an Uncle Ben to us. :)
Holy crap, he looks so young. And he still has his signature look with the shade.
cuz he is wearing a hairpiece
He was 55 when he did this. Keep that in mind when you wonder how old he is.
He is 92
+madsdahlc This was filmed 38 years ago. So based on the month, like Ikrani said, he was 55 when he did this.
And he is not allowed to die until he appears in Infinity Wars Part 2 and confirms everyone's theory that he is, in fact, playing Uatu.
And if Marvel DOESN'T do that, I would like to offer complimentary pitchforks and torches for when we go burn down the studio.
apparently, he will be revealed as Uatu a lot sooner than Infinity War 2.
Ikrani thanks .
60s 70s Art work from marvel is my favorite , brings up nostalgia from my childhood..
Stan Lee has made my life better. Thanks Stan!!! The imagination I built on the Marvel books I read has served me well.
Stan Lee is a living legend.
+Rariix And a legendary liar!
+amaxamon
Explain pal
rariix Well hold up on that one
Dead legend now
@@Rariix22 He stole ideas from Kirby and Ditko, portrayed himself as the creator of the universe and artists are just people to draw his ideas
Rest in peace, Stan Lee. We will never forget you.
I can tell she wasn't a big reader of the books, but Stan was very gracious to her and never became condescending to her. and it's one of the reasons I think he's great!
he has a great way of making the other person feel comfortable
He was soooo used to interviews with people who knew nothing about comics. The master.
It's not the looks that really bothered me, its his voice. I can't believe how deep it is.
The original Amazing Spidermans are some of my favorite pieces of literature - Nuff Said
Helpful Hint: To understand this interview, every time Stan says "WE", think "JACK KIRBY".
Stan should have said Jack's name and Steve's.
Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, Bill Everett, and brother Larry Lieber.
Glad someone said it.
It's amazing how exactly the subject of this interview parallels the MCU and DCEU today.
The reporter literally defines a good interview, keep them talking while asking one simple question at a time
Agreed..to a point. Jack Kirby was not "media material", he was by nature shy and was always hunched over his table, too busy to talk about how great he was. Stan and Jack were a team, but Kirby was left in the dust when it comes to being reimbursed for his hard work.
What Stan Lee said at the end still makes sense today with Marvel movies doing better than DC.
Yeah that's crazy!

Exactly, I'd say he created and co-created multiple characters. But people like Steve, Jack, and more, defined the characters.
Yes
A true legend classic interview rest in peace stan
Love his humility.
1977, and he was still old. Lmao
Sorry, I had to say that. Love ya Stan
He was 55 at the time
Stan says about 40 characters, and I can't help but think how many of them were apart of the X-men storylines at the time, lol
40 before now more than 9,000 incredible! :0

Stan Lee was my best pal for my whole life !
The man was like 55 right here, proof Stan Lee is simply immortal, he doesnt even look his age now!
Yeah, and he's healthier than almost all other people over 65 I've ever seen.
Stan Lee like any great man was a visionary.
Long live the alpha Stan Lee. Thank you for all the greatness of Marvel.
Man of course he's 55 here. Didn't the generous pummeling of Dad jokes give it away?
