No, Stan Lee never did that. Marvel Comics never did that. There are many authors with a target audience of young people who also never did that and who don't do that. I plan to write books and comics in the future and I won't ever talk down to children with my books, either.
Reading comics as a youth helped me in a myriad of ways. I learned important life lessons, learned to set goals for myself, learned the importance of formulating a plan for my life, learned new words and was able to expand and improve my vocabulary, etc.
I think that some people who have never read a comic book would be truly amazed by the things that you can learn from reading comics(that is, if they're the right ones, just like if someone is reading the right kinds of books).
As Superman actor(but he might be a former Superman actor now, I'm not sure)Henry Cavill said, Super Heroes, even though they're fictional characters are great role models for people(because what they stand for is real). As Cavill said, they're the perfect models for how to behave and how to conduct one's self and how to treat other people. I have no problem telling people that many of my role models are fictional comic book characters(along with a lot of real people, too, obviously).
Stan was indeed a legend and one of a kind. He was always one of my role models growing up and Stan Lee is still one of my role models and an inspiration for me(you're never too old to have role models and to be inspired). Great and intelligent conversation with these kids!

@@SuperSaiyan3985 MCU Spider-Man isn't anything like the comics. Especially the ones he was writing. They fail to capture the core of the character and they don't understand Spider-Man either. That's what OP is talking about. At least, that's what I think.

A little strange hearing him being pretty low-key. I like how he talks to them and some of the insight he gives.

Stan Lee had a child-like mind and that is why his characters resonated with many.
