The way cole uses jigs is quiet productive. I use the 7 inch leader with size 1 hook with a split shot about an 1" where its tied. I work this rig the same way. I pop rod tip once it settled pop again wait til it settled. I do this 6 to 7 times. If no bites, i do a 1/2 reel crank slow. I let the rig settle, then pop and pause. This style and rig with 7 inch leader size 1 or 2 baitholder with a split shot in the summer caught me tons of good fish. Ill use a zero z too and trophy bass by procure game on 😊❤

It's not good to hold an unhooked fish over the water and you said it was slimy and hard to hold onto! I couldn't believe that you dropped it twice and it didn't swim away the second time. That sure was lucky. I kept saying--"Get it! Get it!" I'm so glad you didn't lose that nice fish. (Whew!!!)😁🥰👍👍👍👍👍

Let me give you a tip about holding trout that I learned from a guide in Alaska. Simply hold them upside down and they will be quiet.
With a large mouth bass, the two fins on top are separate. Also, large mouths tend to be green and smallies are brown (plus large mouths upper jaw is equal with the eyes when holding up.
Always a great pleasure to watch. Just wondering why you released the lamprey. I would think that they should be culled because they are an invasive species and definitely a danger to our sporting fish. ( and the commercial industry in the Great Lakes).

Well Jay can't say she has caught a Walleye. She caught 3. Excellent. I have eaten Walleye just once, but I liked the taste better than crappie. Unfortunately they don't make it to SE Texas.
That Crappie on the 1st episode looked kind of different , could it have been a hybrid white black ? Never seen one quite like that.
It's always better to eat trout from ice cold water. They are amazing. If you catch and cook from a warmer lake they can be a little "Earthy," because of the diatoms in the water in the Summer.

So I been learning swimmer baits, swirly tails, frogs with tassels, and whopper poppers are the best for bass and crappies, is this true?? I'm tryin to branch out from panfishing and learning tackle has been my toughest point. I live on the west coast in Michigan if that helps. Any pointers??
Also could you possibly do a quick tutorial on how to hook up the double jig rig?? That's a whole new thing for me!!
5” weightless stick bait, 1/8oz shakey head finesse worm, 3/8oz chatterbait with paddle tail swimbait trailer, a 3/8oz Spinnerbait, and a whopper plopper are some really good bass fishing lures for beginners. All are easy to use and will usually always work!
