Both cars are fantastic. The difference is the GT500 is made for multi purposes. Dragstrip or in the track. These cars are 2 different classes.. built vs bought.. some ppl have prefrences. A built Gt is fast after 30k is invested in upgrades. The shelby motor is built for boost with lower compression and forged internals. Simple bolt ons will make a Gt500 1100wheel with stock internals and stock tranny.
One vehicle has depreciation (well...used to lol) the other will hold its value for a lifetime. That definitely is a big consideration over build vs buy. It would have to be the GT500 for me although I think I still prefer the 2013-2014 variety over the new ones. Great video as always!

I consider myself a Ford guy, this is in my wheel house, even the car that I truly would take over all, would be a Shelby GT350. But this is a great video, really nice comparison. I would surprise people, it would be the your built Mustang GT over the GT500. Yes, trust me a Whippled 10R80 with quality drive train and suspension mods renders the GT an incredible drag car, and actually depending on the actual suspension/brake/wheel set up it can also handle like its on rails around corners.
I can't stop looking at how amazing the GT500 is. The Mustang GT looks like a family car compared to the GT500. I don't care how fast the Mustang GT is. I can't get past the looks.
🤦🏽♂️What you said literally doesn’t make any sense and is pointless. The video is of him modifying the power to be superior to the gt500. You comment on the looks and how the GT looks like a family car. 😂For 2-4k you could have superior looks too with the GT. It would be different if you said the heritage and value. If I made 200k a year maybe I would go with the GT500 but with what I make the GT 5.0 is what I could afford. I just don't fit in ether car. So charger widebody is what I would drive
GT500 you’re getting a hand built motor with a relatively large supercharger, DCT, huge brakes and a much more sorted suspension. GT is clearly the better bang for the buck if straight line acceleration is the priority. RacerX talks like the gt500 is all low-end which isn’t true. It’s actually pretty soft down low and makes it’s power in the mid to upper rpm. Highway acceleration is no slouch either for factory with warranty at low 7 sec 60-130. Obviously a built boosted GT will easily gap a stock GT500. Also when you build a car you should factor in the cost of when shit break as well. Something youtubers rarely talk about.
got a 2001 GT at home with a 4.6 2 valve I also want that same Turbo kit any heavy duty transmission options you have for sn95 or recommendations excuse me
The question is unfinished. Whichever the question the answer may change. The answer is relative to the question. If you are asking which is better bang for the buck when it comes to horsepower/racing then the 5.0 is the clear winner. If the question is which would you prefer then that will boil down to the taste of the person answering. If you are asking which will hold its value better then the Shelby. The answer will change depending on the question.
I got a 3.7L but I got a lot of things I want to do to it imma freak it and leave the 3.7L badge on it getting a engine build bout 1200 hp whole new make over changing the interior braking system tires change exhaust with fire spitting
if im gonna use the car to race the 1/4 mile yes I will buy a GT 5.0 and build it as I want but if what I want is the car for the looks and to use it to go around take care of it because 20 years from now will be a classic? I will go with the 500 eyes close and no remorse, not everything is about race and being the fast car in town.
So pay alot of $$$ and don't drive it so it holds it's value (GT500) or buy a 5.0, spend half the $$$, and have more HP and drive it without worries. Yup, I love my 720whp Procharged 2020 GT. Even better, at car shows sitting next to the GT500, there is no mistake who made the better smiles per miles decision. If I wanted an investment I'd put my cash into the stock market, not a car.
As much as I like your TT, I like the aggressive style & performance of the Shelby, performance that is covered by a warranty 😉 I also added the hood struts for $100 😆 If you want a track/sleeper car, your car is a beast and extremely desirable, but if an all around performance car with all the bells & whistles is what you want, GT500 wins no question, but as you said there is no wrong answer, it's all subjective to the owners wants & needs.
I would much rather have the Super Snake, cars aren't much fun if they're just sitting at the Speed Shop .I've had a couple built cars in my lifetime and you are always trying to get the bugs out of those cars seems like there's always something busted on them ,where the car that has a warranty it's like take it out beat the crap out of it if it breaks bring it back to the dealership and then take it out and beat the crap out of it some more much more fun
Only reason I’d buy a GT500, GT350 or Mach 1 or any special edition Mustang for that matter is to enjoy it stock and hold its value. But if you want serious performance that will honestly leave the above stock stangs for dead and you don’t care about a devaluation asset just get a GT 10R80 and Mod it accordingly.
I never knew Mustang fanboys we're such snobs, "oh the headlights are dealbreakers" Bro they're 90% the same, the average person won't tell the difference, it's not gonna effect the drive, and you can't even see them when you're driving but it's a deal breaker for y'all LMAO 🤣🤦♂️

GT will always be the best bang for the buck. The GT500 is a rich boy toy. You buy the GT500 when money isn't an object. The 500 will probably be a little more reliable than a modified car, though.

Yeah give me the gt500 with the warranty and relatability. "Built not bought" doesn't mean what it use to mean. It use to mean you built that thing in your garage with your hands. Now it means dropping it off at a shop and handing them money. These days it's all just bought. I'll take the Shelby gt500. 100%
both cars are different in there own way one being a turbo car vs a supercharged car, will come back to that n a sec.....built vs bought, it is for 2 different people, that want different things, the one that wants the bought car is probably a person that does not want to build a car, and just wants 2 go fast with the quote on quote top of the line car vs the built guy wants his car to be done the way he wants it just 4 him......the bought guy wants a warranty, however if he kisses that motor with a ham sandwhich such a tune etc, then bye bye 2 the warranty.....honestly turbo cars are the way 2 go if u want POWER......thats why the GTR kills everything, it puts the power down, AWD and when built there is NOTHING that can touch it, UNLESS u have a car that can put the power down as good as a GTR.....the GT500 is cool, but it's nothing special.....ok yeah the DCT and the motor, but i have seen built 6R80 and 10 speeds KILL at GT500 for way less money......so if you have a NEW GT500 u can easily get touched that is 4 SURE, so dont think ur KING and all...lol

If I wanted an investment I'd put my cash into the stock market, not a car.
imo cftp is a must for a gt500. nothing wrong without it but it makes it stand out.
How does it compare to the Mach 1? The difference between a scatpack to Hellcat?
500 all day no questions asked tho i would love to see a test drive of a shelby gt500 king of the road down in vegas 1000 hp
What does a strip kit cost?
A lot of work went into both cars. Both are very fast. I love rowing my own gears. So I guess I will stay NA.
I got my 2019 GT 7k Miles now. But, I like WD Hellcat 4D. 🔥
IMO if the Shelby from 14and 15 are the ones to get.
I would do the gt500 more reliable stock still alot of power.
For alot of people it's gonna be the instant gratification lol.
While a 1000+hp Mustang would be fun, I chose to buy a GT500.
But how much power could the Shelby make if you built it out
GT solely for the 2018+ headlight design. The 15-17 design is a dealbreaker for me compared to the new ones.
Same bro! 🤦🏻♂️, it would look 10x better with the new headlight design tbh
@@goodnoodle4337 i get why they didn't do it, same with the 19+ ZL1, but it truly makes the car look silly.
What's wrong with the Headlights in the 15-17? I think they're amazing
I never knew Mustang fanboys we're such snobs, "oh the headlights are dealbreakers"
Bro they're 90% the same, the average person won't tell the difference, it's not gonna effect the drive, and you can't even see them when you're driving but it's a deal breaker for y'all LMAO 🤣🤦♂️
@@BRAINFxck10 if I'm gonna spend $40k+ on a car, don't ya think I should think it's perfect? That's what I thought. Besides, you were spot on for every point you made, besides the fact that I drive a Camaro...
The GT 500 looks like a bigger car. Wider and taller. Is that just the camera angle?
Starting to find good deals for gt350 in the low 50k high 40k 👀👀👀👀
Hey X, I stay in TX (Houston) my biggest question is if your sleeper TT kit is able to be used as a daily even in the crazy rainy days we get every now and then?
Would like the same kit for my 21 GT, just don’t want water sucked into the under mount turbos
Also if I could, I’d get both a Monster GT sleeper, and a modestly modded fbo GT500🐍
Shelby all day. It's the look of that car
Can you review a 2022 subaru brz
If I could afford to buy the car, I would rather have that for reliability. It seems that built cars always have issues.
Ya thats true but i would say if u want a reliable fast car that would run low 11s all day 5.0 10speed headers and e85 and u will have a car u can commute with and a car that will last
@@UR_AL_SHOOK_UP_21 Good Luck trying top find E85 gas on a cross country trek. I'll pass.
@@thullraven1 good point and I agree. But even headers and a good 93 tune can really wake up the engine. You would be plenty fast and a easy cross country driver.
@@thullraven1 You change the tune from E85 to 93 octane using your on board tuner. You temporarily lose some power until you change back to E85, but it handles your concern.
@@DWH300 It's a pain. Too much trouble. I don't track my daily driver anyway, so it's not worth converting to E85. I have access to a Ferrari when I need a track day. 😁
Both have the Same gen 3 coyote block but the gt500 has more badass internals, heads, boost, and trans
Rear end, axles, cams…. So basically literally completely different engine and car lol.
I choose my V6 challenger,, gas prices are ridiculously high
Hell no 🤣🤣🤣😂👌🏿
@@jrrogersstang4696 my scatpack still cheaper on gas than my old 250 even at these prices
@@hairychesticles1 that's great 🔥👍🏿
I’m lucky in that I’ve driven just 1500 miles last year. For me, gas prices can double again without impacting my budget.
There a lot of Better options for gas then a V6 challenger… you’re slow and still get bad gas 😂
Built but not too extreme as 1000 hp. Maybe around 700hp and a little quieter in the vehicle cabin.
Nice mustang GT 500
i never knew a gt500 was limited at 180 where a zl1 can hit 200. yes gt500s are faster stock.
Does your Mustang have Stock Motor and Transmission ?
Yes it does
Well if it's free or given to me it's the Shelby hands down but if it's my hard earned money I'm definitely taking the modded gt all day
I like that you NEVER show the speedometer
Beasttttt
Personally I’d take a 350 R over both. But if I had to choose, I’d take the GT500 SE bc of that widebody. To have 345s in the rear, that DCT, The Shelby badges and I could just as easily make that an 850hp Grip Monster
I have the same hellion twin turbo kit. On my gen 2 5.0.
Gen 2 All Day 👍🏻
Shelby for the looks alone
The one you wrecked? 😢
Doing hellion twin turbos on my scat pack
GT will always be the best bang for the buck. The GT500 is a rich boy toy. You buy the GT500 when money isn't an object. The 500 will probably be a little more reliable than a modified car, though.
Not to mention that the resale value on the Shelby will likely shame anything built at home.
I’m just happy to have my 19GT with bolt ons lol
Obviously the GT500 its Factory with all that power it's going to be more reliable all day long
The GT500 it comes with a warranty
Gt500 has better transmission warranty looks sound engine plus it holds more value, holds value, modes, shifter , track, features, wow factor/ shock. 500 is the winner no diff
can't afford either one so i'll take both! LOL!
You mean bought then built, vs bought? Still need to drop a stack for a 5.0.
The 500 is sexy but i just dont find them comfortable. Challengers is much better however i prefer the camaro
I feel like starting a channel called Speed Racer 😂
For free I'd go with the GT500 because I'd could get more for it and buy something else besides a Ford.
He said this wonderful 10 spd🤣🤣🤣🤣 idk man but that 10 spd is everything but wonderful but it does makes the car faster
Factory modded always worth more than customer modded. And usually done better! No offense X
No offense taken lol
The GT500 will *DESTROY* the GT TT on the track, so the choice is obvious to me. That said, I find the GT500 front end to be super busy and ugly. So can I get a GT350R Heritage Edition instead?
The GT500 is such a beautiful car ,BUT then ford /shelby decided it needed a big pimple on it and they put that dial in the console instead of a shifter,That has annoyed me since the first time i seen one.I actually would never buy one for that 1 reason,it kills the car for me.
Gt 500 cost is due to it comes with a warranty if you bought your car from the factory making 1000 hp you would be paying a lot more than the Gt500 is really simple
Yeah give me the gt500 with the warranty and relatability. "Built not bought" doesn't mean what it use to mean. It use to mean you built that thing in your garage with your hands. Now it means dropping it off at a shop and handing them money. These days it's all just bought. I'll take the Shelby gt500. 100%
GT 500 all day.
both cars are different in there own way one being a turbo car vs a supercharged car, will come back to that n a sec.....built vs bought, it is for 2 different people, that want different things, the one that wants the bought car is probably a person that does not want to build a car, and just wants 2 go fast with the quote on quote top of the line car vs the built guy wants his car to be done the way he wants it just 4 him......the bought guy wants a warranty, however if he kisses that motor with a ham sandwhich such a tune etc, then bye bye 2 the warranty.....honestly turbo cars are the way 2 go if u want POWER......thats why the GTR kills everything, it puts the power down, AWD and when built there is NOTHING that can touch it, UNLESS u have a car that can put the power down as good as a GTR.....the GT500 is cool, but it's nothing special.....ok yeah the DCT and the motor, but i have seen built 6R80 and 10 speeds KILL at GT500 for way less money......so if you have a NEW GT500 u can easily get touched that is 4 SURE, so dont think ur KING and all...lol
Built 4 me. Doing the work is so satisfying unless you're lazy. Lol.
