I'm not an aerodynamics expert either, but I am an aerospace engineering student who is big into race cars and I might be able to weigh in a bit on the aerodynamics. I think the current body you are using produces a lot of lift, we can see a pretty good side view of the body at 13:25. Lift will be generated behind the driver pod and behind each of the wheel wells as the body slopes downward. This produces lift by creating low-pressure vortices behind these elements which will suck the car off the ground thus producing lift. Real race cars and road cars alike run into this issue as well (If you've pushed your car you feel a pretty distinct moment where it becomes very uncomfortable and skittish at high speed, this is the point where the car is producing enough lift to make it very light relative to the ground and it feels very unstable). Race cars offset this with increased rear and front wing angle, which is trading drag for downforce, but since this is a high-speed car obviously you don't want to create a lot of drag. You should look into getting the lowest drag body you can find and focus your downforce creating elements on the bottom of the car, taking advantage of side skirts, venturi tunnels, and huge diffusers which real race cars are banned from using since they create a ton of downforce and very little drag. If you want to stick to this more traditional LMP looking body you can help manage the lift biggest lift generating structure (the pod) by using a thin vertical wall that runs from the apex of the driver pod to the wing, this is what modern LMP cars use if you google "LMP car" you'll see what I mean. I'm loving the project, I cant wait for you to smash the record!

Kev, I appreciate your sentiment in making this series as you are - Adapt, improvise, overcome. I appreciate how you understand it will take time to do this. What we here in the comments, the engineers of us anyway, are just trying to help you see what obstacles are coming along and to prevent them, or at least know what to do when they do arise. With the amount of drilling and modifying, you need to get this chassis re-made. The holes will weaken the chassis, and with the amount of power you are adding, you WILL end up with chassis flex. It will accelerate so fast that the back end will squat down and it will flex in the middle. One way to prevent this is to make it longer. A longer chassis will add to the aerodynamic stability, mean you can use longer venturi tunnels, utilise a diffuser, create side skirts too, keep the weight far more centred. You could even incorporate largely closed wheel arches to prevent air build up within the body and shape the tub directly behind the front wheels to move dirty air from tyre squirt away from the underfloor using a similar concept to Formula One barge boards. I'm not great with CAD or CAM, but there are people out there who could design and 3D print an updated chassis to utilise so many design concepts. One wrong move with the chassis, one hole too big, one ESC mounted too far out, and it's game over for the whole project. Your chassis or tub or whatever you wish to call it, is what everything else bolts on to, so you need to get it right.

Hi Kevin, here are some ideas on increasing speed once you get to about 150 mph, aerodynamics becomes extraordinarily important, just as important as power. -ideally, change your whole body design to being more long and skinny, if you look at land speed record cars you will see what i mean. -But since that will mean a complete redesign, here are some ideas to improve your current car: -ADD A TAIL!! This sounds really weird, but extending the rear of the car out to a gentle point increases aerodynamics extraordinarily, because it eliminates the low-pressure area behind the car that pulls it back. Lookup "aerodynamic tail" to see what I'm talking about. -Enclose the rear wheels. Tires cause a lot of air turbulence, and hence drag, especially since you are using foam tires. If you can figure out a way to cover the front wheels too, that would be great, but it might be harder since the front wheels have to steer. -Change the batmobile-style rear fins to just regular fins. Again, turbulence. -Try and replace as many parts as you can with carbon fiber. You are right in that weight really only affects acceleration, and not top speed, but you are going to need decent acceleration if you want to get over 203 in any reasonable amount of space. Also, figure out a way to gear the thing down. I remember you said in a previous episode it was geared to 600 something mph. you are going to need more torque to get through the air at 200 mph, at that speed air is very "thick". Gear it to like 250 mph. -Finally, if you start to have issues with the motors overheating, consider adding small air scoops to direct air at them. And by small I mean SMALL! like 3/16th of an inch tall, and maybe 1 1/2 inch wide. No bigger, because they will cause too much drag. At 200mph, plenty of air will pass through them. Also, make sure the air has a way out, otherwise air will build up inside the body.

Kevin, you’re enthusiasm is contagious. I suggest that you not cut out your the wheel wells. This will allow the air to smoothly pass along side the car without entering and exiting it creating drag. Won‘t work... That’s like trying to climb a hill in highest gear. The wheelspeed has to match the desired speed of the car. Otherwise, the motors just stall and the current is crazy high. That’s probably why the other ESC got demaged.
600 mph wheel speed in the air is one thing on the ground it is completely different you lose most of that he needs 203 mph wheel speed on the ground the objective it to have enough torque to reach 203 wheel speed pulling the weight of the car it's a balance you got to figure out easy on paper but a practical application paper is not always right easier said than done
@@chrisblanks1906 That's true, but he certainly doesn't need 600mph wheelspeed. The whelspeed without load (In air) has to be somewhere higher the desired speed, like 300mph without load to reach 200mph on ground. With 600mph wheelspeed, the motors will operate in a very inefficient area at very, very high current. Just take a look at the record holders vehicle specs.
A guy by the name of Matt Marshall from Ottawa, IL (USA) actually did a very similar setup as this using the exact same ESCs shortly after they became available, and used German, Lehner motors directly driving spools as this also--and while I don't know what the current speed he is at, the last time I saw the project he was producing a central motor mount for a solid fuel rocket motor to assist the electric motors. Really, no joke. The rocket motor can only fire once before requiring a new one, though. Very expensive per top speed run. He said the rocket motor would arm if all was going correctly in the run, and then auto-ignite at a specific speed once armed, taking the vehicle to maximum speed (or possible destruction)! I'm going to tell him to contact you, some how, as your projects are very similar.
In other words that electric motor associated with those batteries generates a wheel speed that is about 600 mph on ground... that's why Kev Is about to change the Power unit

Kevin. Love the undertray 👍 if you were to drill a few access holes I think it should be fine. Locked diffs 👍 hope it works. There's always a chance that adding some skirts on the side of the chassis could help with downforce, it'll stop air traveling under the car and help decrease the air pressure under the car. Can't wait to see it go. 👍😷
just some Ideas Kev 1) polyurethane wheels ? they used as racing car engine mounts, can be molded. shoyld be nice grip also 2) seing now you going to have all locked 4wd, steering servo only probably needs to turn like 5mm as sharp turning results to tumble wumble at high speeds. 3) velcro the front body splitter to the chassis incase at speed of 180mph and more a small bump and slight amount of wind gets into the front of the body will rip the body or cause some serious handling issues. 4) make sure the front of the chassis is lower than the rear of the chassis. measure from the ground to the chassis plate. make sure all the weight of batteries and everything is on the car when doing it. Eg: look at all drag cars. front is lower than rear so the front doesnt pick up air and flip the car. PS. Wayne from South Africa 🇿🇦

He said the rocket motor would arm if all was going correctly in the run, and then auto-ignite at a specific speed once armed, taking the vehicle to maximum speed (or possible destruction)! I'm going to tell him to contact you, some how, as your projects are very similar.
This dude said that the wheel speed is 600mph. Next video: "My NEW Project 600MPH RC Car".
wheels will blow before he hits 140 these ones atleast
He will probably have foams
Replies are weird.
You probably missed something in the previous videos and comments.
It's a point already discussed
In other words that electric motor associated with those batteries generates a wheel speed that is about 600 mph on ground... that's why Kev Is about to change the Power unit
I live vicariously through all the cool stuff you do lol, thanks kev
Kev: this thing is going to the moon
Are you jumping it?
Quality project. Cant wait to keep an eye on this. Keep.the content coming
Hey Kevin don’t forget to contact the guinness world records people/ official 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻you will do this mate 😃😃👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
YOU HAVE ME ADDICTED ALREADY SIR. CAN'T WAIT POWER 💯💯♥️🇬🇧👍😋
Mount the wing to directly to the wheels so that all of the down force goes to the wheels and not shocks. It was banned in all professional racing because it was too good
Yes that's what mr mclaren was thinking 🤔 just before a gust of wind hit his special wing at speed lifting his rear tires in the air and flew his car in to a shed
@@carlredbird3054 well that would apply to any wing, no?
@@bananasstuff3344 if the spoiler is tall enough and at an extreme degree of angle, it can actually become a wing lifting the car
Some racing still use spoilers, F1 has front and back spoilers, bonneville salt flats let's people use them still
@@carlredbird3054 well obviously. that's literally what i said, i said that the lifting wing could apply to nearly any aero modification.
@@bananasstuff3344 no F1 cars use wings safely. modern gp motorcycles use wings for stability at high speed. Nascar use small lip spoiler. They don't go flying off the track because of some wind
If the spoiler is made correctly, a gust of wind will not lift the rear wheels off the track. Old style tall and large spoilers can be dangerous
looking good kev cant wait to see more of the car have a great day
Somebody else is trying to get a world record too....
We all know Kevin’s is gonna be better
Lol
I have followed you since I got into the hobby and you are truely a legend mate!
Love your entusiasm and the content you provide. ❤🍻👊
Wish you all the best with this project and looking forward to see you break the WR!
Keep up the awesome work bro!
Idea: find solid rubber wheels with carbon fiber rims
Dude! I absolutely love how you don't give a shit about what other people tell you that you can't do. I love proving people wrong also.
May I recommend a drag strip? When in doubt get more esc’s and S’s. This is going to be so awesome👍
A drag strip is also perfect because the surface is prepped with that sticky compound for better grip.
Looking good Kev, can't wait to see the next video on this machine 👌.
I did some math and that beast now has 68 hp!
wait 68 hp in an RC?!!?!??!?!?
My Ebike has 0,25 hp nice
What's the math? If its really 68 hp thats crazy
That's silly
@@Sebastian-xr4wz it probably has 0.25 KW
good luck buddy. will be here to see you do it, i got faith
That’s a pretty expensive power system! I guess it takes money to go fast! Lol 😂
Ski is the limit!
Wow, great build Kev. Can't wait to see you break that speed record. Good luck.
60 cell! This thing is going to the moon!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣 thats why lm here 💪💪💪💪
Go get it Kev!! I'm 100% positive you can crack 200 mph!
That’s gonna be an expensive crash.
I fear it will crash stability at high speed is what matters
Nope
I can’t wait...GOOD LUCK BUDDY. If anyone can do it, you will!!!
Anyone else getting a "monty python holy grail" vibe from the time lapse?
👇
hi those esc's are so good I really hope the car hits 203 mph I really like the series I can't till the car hits 203 mph and your so close to 800k
the x maxx is better for stunts but the kraton is bette for speed. also he is at 766k but he is close to 800k
Thanks. This thing is going to the moon!
Lol 60S.. my god that's gonna go!
You should paint the corvette black and yellow. That would look AMAZING😊
“They only cost a couple grand”
Kevin forget the haters you do you and break the record mate! Im with you all the way! Love your stuff and looking forward to the new record.
When's the next vid
You can do this Kev!! As long as there’s tea there is Hope!!!!!!!!!!
When’s the next speed run coming
looking forward seeing you BEAT the record. enjoying the process.
Has anyone paused and read the email he sent kev ?
Nick case Seems a bit salty..
yeah, noticed that too lol
this.
lol
Man, Kev! You use of CAD to make your new belly tray is impressive! Cardboard Aided Design at its finest!
Just leave the plastic chassis off until you’re going to test run it instead of taking it on and off bro
It's going to be awesome Kevin!! 👍
I'm going to get the monster truck done soon.
Spends 2k on esc's
Awesome video kev and do your thing thats why we watch you😁
That thing has more power than my car
I definitely can't wait to see this monster move.mind blown .🤯👍🔥💪
I don’t see a “Tumble Wumble” t-shirt.
Same :(
I wish there was one, but i could make my own one.
Can't wait for you to exceed the record.
lmao way to make it seem like Nic got in touch with you. Clearly the way the email reads, you got in touch with him first, asked for help, and now you're saying naaah I'll do it myself. WHAT?
Probably because the dude was a dick to him in the email.
You look good with a hat.😀👍👍👍
Agree!
I've always wanted a rc car but I can never afford it
You should save up for one they are really fun
Try to do simple things Like clean your parents cars and things like that to get some money and eventually u can afford one
Me too
I have money but i can't take care of it
As expected Kevin! The idea is different!☺☺☺☺☺☺👍
I am so impressed with your drive and ambition!
At the moment I am converting my Arrma Granite into a Lawnmower and its hard work.
I love this style of video Kev! 👍
Keep up the good work Kev! Definitely gonna follow this project.
just some Ideas Kev
1) polyurethane wheels ? they used as racing car engine mounts, can be molded. shoyld be nice grip also
2) seing now you going to have all locked 4wd, steering servo only probably needs to turn like 5mm as sharp turning results to tumble wumble at high speeds.
Wow Kevin you have some excellent ideas on how to make that car faster . I can't wait to see you beat that record and I have no doubt that you will 👍!
I love to watch you work
this madlad is doing it, I'm calling it
