listen, i have some sort of experience with aerodynamics and as much as you want minimal drag you need at least some downforce for it to work well, the body alone isnt enough. increased downforce means that the car wont take off, can accelerate faster, can keep control and can shovel air better. Having a rear wing will keep the back from spinning out and putting some proper air spitters, cannards and air dams can keep the nose down and allow for better transfer of power from the wheels to the ground, you cant go fast if your wheels are just spinning in the air. i also notice that your body has a decorative top air nozzle that is covered over, cutting it out and letting air flow into the car will help cooling and its small enough to not be a huge problem but the car will be fast enough to get enough air in there. for example running a formula one car without any downforce compared to with downforce makes it slower as the wheels arent able to stick to the ground and the tires just spin. i recommend at least having 2/3 bodies with different levels of downforce addons and cooling slots to test for results yourself but i find that there is alot of benefit to sacrificing a little acceleration for a higher top speed (edit: also increase the rear suspension a crap ton! letting the nose lift for a second could be catastrophic at those speeds, tight rear suspension coupled with cannards will help the nose stay down)
It takes a lot of guts to follow-through with a project like this. It takes even more to admit you failed. I admire that, Kev. You have a ton of solid advice in the comments section that will make this project successful. You can make this a success.
Kevin, I really like your enthusiasm but let me say that your gearing is waaaaay off! I’m not a nay-sayer, I love what you are doing but look: 3300KV motors, 12S Lipo. That‘s roughly 150‘000rpms (no load) at the motor. If your differentials have a 3:1 ratio, you have 50’000 rpms at the wheels. You have 100mm wheels, so they are 31 centimeters circumference. That makes 261 meters a second or 586mph at the wheels. So, either you need new motors with around half the kv or some kind of gearboxes to get a wheelspeed of something around 250mph or this wil never work. Edit: That probably is also the reason why one of your ESCs and LiPos broke down. The current must be crazy high with this setup. This is like trying to climb a hill in highest gear - you are stalling the motors so to say. I love your idea of the direct driven differentials but if it was my car, I'd try it with 1200-1600KV motors and 8S, maybe 12S later on. I just looked up the world record car setup: He uses a 1875KV Neu-motor on 12S with a 240A castle marine esc. Gear ratio looks similar to your car.
Well that rc car definitly don't need more torque and the motors won't rev that high anyway. The problem with the high kv motor is the high current will kill the ESC, Li-Po and overheat the motor
Couldn't he try just using less cells instead of motors half the speed? I know it won't change the gearing issue but at least there would be less power to kill the ESCs
@@thunderstormrc that is a big issue here. I would keep the motors but go down in lipo cells, maybe 6s on each, Just cause an esc is rated at 16s, dont mean you can 47n any motor safely, we only run 4s in offroad 1/8 with 1900kv. Anything over 6s needs to be low or it will draw too many amps for the esc. Like I ran a 5600kv castle on 3s and the the 60 amp esc cant run that motor on 3s, larger amp draw than a 4300, ect
Add a kill switch (some kind of pin with a pull tab) that completely disconnects the batteries accessible from the outside so you don't have to pull the shell off or fiddle with it if its acting up (or on fire, lol).

Two ESC's in parallel running 12s or 15s does not equal 24s or 30s, it means 12s2p or 15s2p. You aren't doubling the voltage running two individual ESC's at 15s each.
Yeah but he's running a single esc to each motor with whatever it may be either 6s 12s or 15s technically if he's running 12s to one esc and 12s to another there is still 24s total powering the vehicle even if only 12s is going to one esc/motor and another 12s going to esc/motor i mean am my missing something because regardless he's running the batteries in series and if there is 24s total in batteries powering the truck regardless if its split between 2 esc's there is still a total of 24s no way around it

If you do the math you can find out that the gearing is way off with those high kv motors and the spur and pinion deleted. The theoretical top speed comes out to be around 500mph on 12s. You should aim around 250 to reach 203mph. Also if you use two motors two escs, you should connect the two escs or the two groups of batteries in parallel becoulse the rear motor does most of the work while accelerating and the front motor when braking which charges the batteries. You could possibly overcharge one of the two battery groups, and we know that's not good for them. Oh and please do not say once again 16s, 24s, 28s or 100v, unless you can measure that voltage on the car. it's two independent systems in the car, and it's not running the voltages you are saying. Ok, so we are going the MGM way, this is going to get expensive(ier) real fast! :D Just a little advice: Add a (big) capacitor bank to the new ESCs. With such a high power setup, and all those long battery wires, it is really a must. It will save your ESCs life (or at the very least extend it). Installing motors with half that KV would also be more realistic. Or try the ones you have with 4S, which is near the max rpm they can take (~50k rpm). Otherwise, you will not be able to use full power, which will most likely kill the ESCs in a short time (ESCs don't like to be working half-load for too long. they heat and burn). Don't take me wrong, I want this project to succeed as bad as you do, I just wanted to minimise the chance of electronics failing (that is not fun to watch, we want to watch real crashes! :D) Best of luck. Keep up the good work. We want more real soon!

Hey man, yeh I know, I quickly worked it out in my head to be around 600 mph!! I can get 1600kv motors or just not pull the throttle trigger all the way!
@@KevinTalbotTV Running half throttle means the motors can't run at high efficiency. This car deserves better gearing and you will fly past the record eventually. I recommend 1600 kv and 6 s to start with. With 8 s you probably already reach your goal.
No load speed is useless, this is maximum load.
@@Spedley_2142 high end brushless motors don't drop all that much at a given voltage.
@@hanskoot6254 i really hope he listens to you. reading all the comments, this the general consensus. smartest way to go honestly.
Kev...ur gonna do it...its that simple..u have the will and attitude of a pure born winner..if another can do it..u will..simple..NEVER give up..
What a pleasure seeing a father and son enjoying a hobby together
Who else was waiting for this the whole day ?¿
6:42 this was the scariest thing... I literally jumped out of my seat in reaction. By working with drones, and frying way too much equipment that seriously gave me a lot of trauma and kicked in my reflexes of wanting to immediately pull apart whatever was in my hands.
I just sent my mouse flying into the side of my pc.
Instead of saying he can’t do give him some examples so he can make it better
He needs to cover the wheels the reduce turbulence; look at all the land speed record vehicles in recent years
@@DavidBrown-bs7gg he has already said he can change the body at any time
Man... I respect your work so much
Soooo awesome brudda kev 💪!
he doesn't crack the whip any more...):
he mustve lost it (lol)
This comment made my day. 😅
@@stuff7245 must of broke off up his ass. 😂
I like that you're trying Kev, but you need to know your electrics first. The difference between parallel and series is basic, then currents and ratios. Do the math, (or science if you will), then approach this from your findings. I see many helpful comments here, use your community. :) Best of luck!
If you've watched this guy videos, you'd realize he is the Jeremy Clarkson of RC cars (despite looking more like Richard Hammond) - Mildly entertaining but clueless about electronics and mechanical engineering. I remember encountering other students at university who thought they were kings of electronics because they played with RC cars before, but completely shit themselves when they were introduced to LVD, EMC, RED compliance because they only knew about brand manufacturers and not design concepts.
The guy has the money BUT NIL IDEA .....
@@user-kc2ru5xo4k Yup. Although it can be entertaining. :)
Damn that thing is going to really rip when you get the bugs worked out. Did you see the front end lifting at like 80mph! Kevin will beat the record sooner or later. 😎
He can do it for sure.
That was crazy! The front lifting with all that weight even...💯😵
Yeah he can do it. It's just a matter of time.
Amazing the customizing he did to it. It really came together at the end. I'm starting to think he can really pull it off.
@@NotoriousCoke Yeah I have faith in him. The record has stood for a long time but I don't think anyone as determined as him has tried to smash it yet.😎
I don’t care how old or recent your videos are they are awesome!
This is a very fun project to watch - thanks!
Why do you keep posting titles saying 203mph? Has it even hit a hundred yet?
because his goals is it beast the record which is 202
Good luck to him.. he ain’t beating nic
He really isn't. I don't think he has watched Nic put that car together... He could skip the stock wheels/tires and that body if he was serious.
@@bdbeckstrand He really doesn't stand a chance. Nic's Bullet is a masterpiece of research and fabrication. He even deleted suspension to eliminate squatting.
This dude has an amalgamation of off the shelf parts thrown together with fingers crossed, unfortunately throwing money at this project is just a waste as he doesn't have a clue.
Cuz its the project name duhh
First, when will you make another video on the TRAXXAS UDR I'm missing it
Crazy fast 200mph car can't wait to see it go
Running 2 sets of 12s does not make it 24s or anywhere even close
126 volts. Lol . Too the moon!!!! Literally. Awesome car Kevin
Simon L it’s what he said . I didn’t do any math
Nothing can stop Kev when he is on a Mission. I take this as a success, it works Car goes forward and Backwards Frame held and tires didn't blow. Speed controller was known to be the weak link but Kev likes to Blow things up so no Fail Here. I wonder if more downforce will help the front from lifting like on the Pikes Peak Hill Climb Monsters?
Imagine killing an esc that costs as much as a really good rc car. LOL, great video!
0:12 thats not a car thats literally a speedboat lmao
I feel like the batteries should go in front of the speed controllers.
We want more real soon!
i loved this video !!!! keep the good work up ! I cant wait to see the video when you brake the world record!!!!!
That’s why F1 and Indy cars have front wings to keep them on the road.
And a suspension, min ride hight bumpers, well balanced center of gravity, wheel tyre combination that are balanced to gramms and mountend in an angle that is correct to tenth of an degree. So yeah similar but different.
U don't say....
Kevin: nooo you can't break ESC
ESC: Haha ESC go snap
I clicked so fast hoping for a unplanned disassembley
Awesome video i was waiting for the test run. Sorry about the esc and lipo cell but thats where all the fun is😜🤙. Rebuild and come back better than ever lets goo
DAAAAMN kev can't wait for your next video!
If richard hammond was homeless:
And a virgin...
kev: only 16s we will run 24s in a different video, lol
If that esc had held up, it would have easily done at least 150 even on the batteries you had. This car is definitely gonna hit 200!
Like the Goatee Kev!!!🔥💪🏽
got to say I like you being constructive a lot more than when you're being destructive. Got my attention, and joining your subscribers. Good luck Kev.
“I don’t recon these are going to hold up when you hit 200”
Let’s be real here... he’s not going to hit 200.
Debbie downer here lmao
Caleb Sowell It wanted to flip already in the video. 3:09 It’s not going to make it to 200, it’s just not aerodynamic enough.
Anyone else watch him when your bored
Yea ,but I was actually waiting for this
Oh yeah, we’re just gonna try it on 16S Lipo.😂
Regardless of what anyone says, and wether or not you can beat the record, I for one will be following your journey to the end. Your love for the hobby and your never give up attitude is what it is all about 👍👍
it's ok Kevin, trial and error to get it right. I am rooting for you!!!!!
Hi
It’s kasch hi
Everyone watch the video 10 times full so he has enough revenue to pay for it 😂😂
Someone needs to let you run this on an actual asphalt race track!
You'll pull it off man i know it don't know when but you will and I will no doubt be here waiting for the video of it when you do love the videos keep up the great work 💙💜💚
Best of luck with it and be careful! My last vid is a reminder just how dangerous these speed runs can be.
Once you get the downforce and esc figured out, are you going to be ordering special tires? I’ve seen most tires fail between 130-150mph.
gonna try make my own wheels and tires
Kevin Talbot good for you man! Can’t wait to see the progression as you go faster and faster. You’ve built an incredible machine! 🤙🏼
Imagine being a micro human and owning that rc car.
lol x infinity.
I think it can go 200 it would be pretty funny if the speed tellers didn’t hit 200
Kev, I love your attitude about the build. You arnt cocky with it, you know theres gonna be ups and downs. Keep up the work, I have no doubt you will break the record.
It don’t matter how long it takes! I only care and want to see you reach your goal My friend! Good luck ! And keep pushing forward until u reach the moon👍🏼
Good luck Kevin and never give up on your dreams and goals
Awesome!!!! Glad to see it out and running lol hopefully those new ESC's will hold up
I like the new found positivity in your channel Kevin. Thanks.
its easy to be positive when you love what you do :) Thanks
Best rc vids ever 😁👍
one day at a time buddy. one day at a time. we will be here each step of the way watching it unfold. good luck
That thing is the most epic rc car ever built, Kevin.
I feel that you will totally destroy that record. No problem.
You sir are a mad genius! Nasty Nasty build. I'm sure you will get it dialed in and break records. If anyone can you can
Great video as usual. Keep pushing the limit...to the moon🌝! I sincerely hope you set the new record, we all support you 👍
wooooooooooooow 😱☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️
Waiting for next try already. Keep good content coming 💪
