- The Ragnarok is a chunky, fat sounding pickup that’s also devastatingly tight and aggressive; a hot ceramic pickup with a smooth top end and incredible clarity.

“If the Juggernaut is a surgical tool, the Ragnarok is a sledgehammer.”
I love it already.
Not a huge fan of Periphery, but I’m a huge fan of Mansoor. His intelligence and commitment to the guitar tone is second to none. It’s people like him who will save metal and the guitar in general
The guy just makes some riffs for demonstrate the pickups, and it ends up becoming one of the best songs of your life.
Such an eargasm!
Dennis Koore if Periphery does not use it in a new song il lbe pissed haha it sounds sooo good
My dude!
I think it's more like a soundcloud misha post haha
Heey sup man!
inb4 some of these riffs end up on Periphery 4 and we'll be back watching these videos realizing it
Gonna leave this comment here as a reminder
Bump
leprechaun
Still not out yet
maybe on p5 ...
3:48 that is one of the most gorgeous chord progressions I have ever heard
Me too. Do you know what song did he play?
Moo Panuwat hmmm it sounds very similar to Garden in the Bones chorus but he changed it up a little
@@nmularoni1 Hmmm, there's a hint of similarity. Thanks!
Moo Panuwat hell ye 😎 gosh you made me feel like fucking Superman tonight
Reminds of a band called "The Intersphere". Cheers
I'm going to get mine personalized with Chris Hemsworth's face on them.
I hope you did it 🤣🤣🤣✌
Misha is the new Billy Mayes, I need him in all my ads now
Hope he overdoses on coke :3
He threw up in his mouth a little when BK told him to smile and say Djent 3 times like it was cool.
He'd do anything for that money lol
ruclips.net/video/wPMWcAM2mwM/видео.htmlstart=187
I love watching this avidly chuffed Misha teleport around the room
The type of people who would order a set with the 'Djent Djent Djent' covers are the same people who drop their pants to their ankles when they pee.
this^
Gotta air out the balls n crack somehow eh?
evolution of djent kids>
stage 1, the djent kid: woah djent duh djent djent does it djent huehuehue
stage 2, the pretentious hater: djent is such a dead meme and a bullshit genre *listens to slayer
stage 3, the grand master wizard of metal: djent is whateves, its heavy and interesting and lots of bands use it tastefully and I'm not gonna get triggered. djent was at first cool, then it became a hated dead meme, now people djust use the word ironically, but the music still has the passion of progressive metal behind it.
PSSHHH, Why would you ever pee any other way?!?!
gotta set them balls free
Any chance of getting DIs for both juggernauts and these? Both sound great but many of us would like to hear how they sound through our own setups.
you know, it's stuff like the instrumental at the end that gets me inspired
Love to here a comparison between these and the juggernauts. Esp on an 8 string :)
MrNickRowe this is the greatest idea ever
Well... they are rare but I do have them at least once a decade lol
This. I really want to hear the two sets back to back
The way I'm interpretting these to be compared to the juggs are:
higher output
smooth top end but not necessarily as bass heavy
tighter
so basically a high output ceramic with the top end of an alnico
where as the juggs are lower output, more bass heavy, and overall just flubbier.
An 8 string comparison would be great though.
Mason Stanley thank you. Listening to the sound bites on their site I have drawn a similar conclusion. Pleased these offer a good clean tone too and look to be what I want for my 8. Still a direct 8 string comparison would be great
I'm so glad to hear the word "sledgehammer" describe this, because I bought a pair of Dimarzio Titans last year and the reason I bought them was because they sounded like a sledgehammer smashing through a brick wall. Definitely gonna get these for my 8 string!
Dat last riff tho!
I like them all. A lot of time was put into those riffs, and they're not very basic/straight-forward, thus it seems like they're already part of a song, so I theorize that it's likely that we'll hear this on their upcoming record.
The drum parts seem a lot like Halpern's writing style, which is a good sign.
Yup... Garden in the bones
How tha hell does he manage to get so much air and space in his mixes while still being so fucking heavy?
isnt it the pick up?
3 years of playing later, some of my impressions are
1. They’re a LOT of fun to play - quite forgiving, but not at the expense of all the dynamics
2. They’re warm sounding (pair terrifically with my maple dominant guitar)
3. They clean up remarkably well. It won’t be quite Suhr SSV, ML single coil split, but the cleans have a crystalline feel which I love
Just ordered my sledgehammers last week, can't wait to get my hands on them.
Somebody needs to do a shootout with these and marks alpha omega set. The ultimate showdown
Finally ordered the neck version to accompany the bridge. Man they’re expensive but sound damn good!
I'm sorry...... I just can't take misha seriously in this 😂😂😂
Let me guess, these sound the best when going into the Precision Drive?
Lol. I won't even deal with Bareknuckle anymore, they can't even take 5 minutes to respond to my questions. I've sent them 20+ emails over the past year, nothing.
Being an owner of the precision drive I will say that it makes any pickup/guitar sound better. 👍
really? they literally respond to me within 24 hours and i've asked them countless questions
Can't even get a single response from their sales or technical service.
Really? they always respond to me within a day
I was not expecting these to have such an incredible clean tone
That ad- videos. EMG 81-7, Alpha, SD Nazgul, SD Invader, SD Distortion SH6, Ibanez Inf 4. My list of the best. Since 20 years trying PU's thats it for my high gain a standart tuning sounds.
From what I heard in this video, this set seems to nail the original Periphery tone (P1 and P2) whereas the Juggernauts seemed to be catered to the sound that they were trying to go for with the Juggernaut album.
Do you guys sell Nolly, wtb Nolly ! He makes all guitars sound 11/10.
You can tell having to say "djent" just pains Misha.
it sells lol
If these shipped default on the sub 1000$ Jackson signatures as they do with the Holcombs I would get the guitar no question!
I hope SO much that the music starting 3:40 is gonna end up on the next Periphery record!
That last riff was NASTY! \m/, Gonna put these in my next 7-string for sure!
One year later and this fucking riff at the end is still fucking killer!!
I'm calling it now 10 seconds in he's gonna pull out his horizon devices precision drive
Gotta say, I'm a bit doubtful of these pickups. I'll stick with Titan/Alpha-Omega/Juggernaut pickups.
The man, the myth, the propane salesman... Anyway, agreed to an extent. Currently using alpha/omega, those are great. These are probably worth a try, but honestly don't think these will top juggs or AO. Hell, might end up being really surprised by them. Never really cared for the titans though. They are still better than most pickups for the price, but def prefer marks set over the rest.
I have the titan set, honestly I really like the neck pickup, really full, fat but still tight sound, and it's also louder than the bridge pu which is not so big sounding but it's really balanced, full and clear, but in the end I think mark's set is better
From the show, you would never know Hank had such brilliant pickup taste. I hope they are great, i just put my order in today for Ragnaroks with carbon fiber covers.
The difference is similar to the old warpig to the aftermath. ragnarok is huge fat punchy deep while juggernaut is tight sharp precise.
Love seeing misha's salesmanship
The song you wrote for the video is amazing! Is it on Spotify?
Been checking these out. Think I might get me a set of these instead of my favorite nailbombs for my next custom. Been enjoying the clips and videos. I think the ceramic bridge design might be better in these. We'll see. Can't wait to hear them in action!🙂
That riff at the beginning is so fucking melodic. It really reminds me of "Clear"; especially, "Zero". I love it.
Awesome! I really would like to hear to these demo clips on soundcloud or anywhere else.
Edit: it's not the point of the video but i realize that Misha's mixing have improved a lot! They're not sounding "overcompressed" anymore, i really like it!
I'm even more impressed by them bass tones :D
i literally just bought a juggernaut and then i find this...
PL AN ES Band how much dude?
where you happy with the juggernauts?
I just tryed them a hour ago in my corner- 200meters away from home- musikstore, with a boss katana.I spend a hour playing riffs. That amp and that pu's sounds great. Next payday goes into that. Monday a Boss- tech does a katana- show- day. Thats cool. In my littel store happens not much.
man I'm pretty sure misha could sell me used tampons lol
No kidding, he's turning into quite the pusher
1:29 Misha Gilmour..
Looking at the specs, those are crazy hot pickups, I really can't believe how good of a clean you get, I feel like you must got a lot going on with the Axe FX to get dialed in that good. And while they are temping, I'm just too damn happy with my Juggernaut. Combining Alnico and ceramic in one pickup is just about the most genius thing ever done in the history of pickups.
Im wondering what happens when putting a juggernaut in the neck and a ragnarok in the bridge. Thoughts?
I had the Ragnaroks in a pro series juggernaut Ht6 and wasn’t happy with them, I didn’t get this “warm and purr” tonality Misha described. They were quite bland, they would also get harsh and abrasive as any ceramic magnet pickup, opposite to the juggernaut which is my favorite pickup ever.
There are are a ton of misconceptions and negativity regarding active pickups. Although MM mentions actives in the video, he probably is referring to an EMG 81. That is a great pickup. But...if you want to be truly blown away, try out an EMG 57. I promise you that the 57 will blow apart any of the negative opinions you have of an active pickup, Power, punch, clarity, smooth top end. organic and real sounding. I will say that these new Bare Knuckle sound incredibly good also.
I kept on expecting Misha to say, "But wait, there's more!". He was full on infomercial here.
I bought a ragnarok because I heard good things about them. I didn't know it was Misha's gear
Can't lie. Those sounded rather tasty. Great pickups Great video!
Sounds goddamn heavy! Odin Thor and all the Vikings would be proud of that! I havent tried Bare Knuckle pickups yet. Think soon im going to try these. Have always been using EMGs..Dimarzios and Duncans. 😎🤘🤘🤘
The Black carbon fiber cover looks like the Nazgul and Sentient by Seymour Duncan. Sick!
I literally only like bareknuckle pickups but I'm too broke to afford them. Every time I hear a guitar tone that blows me away, sure enough I look it up and its fucking bareknuckle.
thought you were talking about the movie.
and re the note in the beginning: glad you didn't equip the guitars with nazgul and pegasus pickups to record a ragnarok video 😂
Dang, this seems like it would be my pickup. I'll have to get it one day.
great demo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that guitar was it factory installed with those wonderful pick ups !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The orange pickups are actually the very first set of Ragnaroks that we made, they stayed in the guitar after we finished the testing / development process
I'm still very much interested in getting a warpig set, but it'd be nice to hear a a/b of the two
I constantly hear from people on the outside of the aggressive-mid, snarly, heavy side of guitar looking in, that none of the pickups ever sound any different, and for a while I started to see what they were saying. But seeing this is quite a breath of fresh air, as you've made your Juggernaut pickups that punch through a mix of 2 other guitarists, a bassist, and drums, which in and of itself was impressive, but now you've made pickups that sound completely different in tonality, with a chunky blend of lower mid, low end, and mid range punch. I am humbled and impressed by your strife for new colours to a creative palate.
Im wondering what happens when putting a juggernaut in the neck and a ragnarok in the bridge. Thoughts?
People who say these pickups doesn’t djent don’t even know what Djent is
I think I'm going to put these in my Mayones Duvell 7
2:49 you're a weeaboo and you don't even know it
C2 pls
Was thinking the exact same thing... C2 needs to see this
ayelmao
But there wasn't any pizza...
C2 senpai
It's ironic that I just found this video when I was starting to plan on buying a couple sets of Seymour Duncan x Mark Holcomb Alpha & Omega pickups 🤔 well looks like I might buy a set of Ragnarok pickups 🤘🏻
NAIL BOMBS are still my fave! they are awesome
3:11 sounded wayyyy more distorted than juggernauts, but id love a comparison between the two in a mix showing a bunch of periphery songs!
Just ordered mine!
Pisses me off people saying he sold out. 1 he hasn't whatsoever all his products are amazing.
2 he said himself periphery makes next to nothing so he is a smart business man.
holy shit i love the sound of this thing
Love the Marshall he has
you are freaking good at guitar
So it is aggressive and forgiving but full and rich and without sacrificing detail and clarity and it is even amazing on mid-gain and clean tones. Did you just basically say it is the best in everything in 400 words? :D
2:41 the guitar solo to Bulb's "Far Too High" featuring his brother Axel Mansoor on vocals.
Bulb starting to sound like fuckin game show host.....
It's called Ragnarok cuz it will be the end of all pickups
This really makes me consider replacing my C-pigs for the Rag. Wonder how they clean up in A tuning(7-string)
I guess it's kinda the bareknuckle version of the Fishman Fluences..cool !
Seems to be quite dank. I'm tempted.
Woooo you sound damn confident here 👍👌
what is the song name at the end... it was a MONSTROSITY .... and if someone could tell me the tuning please????????
Looks and sounds like a drop C to me.
Periphery 6 String tuning is mostly Drop C
Drop C!
F A G D A D#
Actually I believe it's B A G D A Db. Gotta get that nice explosive pick attack.
Juggernaut vs. Ragnarok dilemma .. Which pickups put into the Gibson Les Paul Custom from 1977 for Drop C tuning? I would like a fat, clear, solid sound and also a nice clean channel. I don't have any personal experience with Bare Knuckle yet .. I'm thinking about Raganarok, Juggernaut or Black Hawk.. Some idea?
Hey Štěpán! My first though would be the Ragnarok, if you want to cover all of those points with ease! It's got a broad midrange which will work well with your LP without getting notchy or nasal and will deliver a tight thud in the lows, with plenty of depth and warmth on the clean tones.
@@BKPickups Dear Bare Knuckle guys, thank you for reply!
So they're basically BKPs answer to the Fishman Fluence moderns, interesting I'll have to try some out if I can
Djont Djont Djont buy those covers with this set!!!!
My custom pickup etch will be
"Am I Djent Yet?"
Get your noise gates out boys 🤘🏻
New Periphery song sounds amazing!
Wouldn't of picked Mansoor to vouch for passive pickups, maybe I'll look into the Ragnarok as my first active.
I have pretty much only ever used passive pickups, and these are passive as well!
Guys 2:22 is rather gorgeous too.
when i've thought that nothing can go over juggernaut ... great work guys, keep doing astonishing products :D
Already avaiable for 7 and 8 strings???
sounds good sir
Barecankle Kakarot pickups are cool
Sound gnarly through my mesa....nailbomb is the best tho....
And a sales man was born :D
Little late but got mine lol
It's never too late!
I wish they really sound like they do in this demo. They are on the bright side and kinda harsh in my pro series juggernaut. How knows if they sound how they should on the USA juggernaut
Hi Oscar, I'm sorry that you're not getting the kind of result that you want from your pickups. There's no special production trickery used in this video, so you should be able to get similar tones from any Ragnarok set; we don't make them any different for Misha than we do for any of our customers! Drop us an email to sales@bareknucklepickups.co.uk and maybe we can talk through some ways to get them sounding better for you.
@@BKPickups I sold the guitar a while ago, and got a new Jackson pro series juggernaut with the stock Jackson pickups. The difference between the stock pickups and the Ragnaroks was very subtle, the rags were a little bit more defined and spanky but that was it. They did not have the fat and huge tonality they are known for
Just ordered a Ragnarok bridge!!
So, why no comparisons to other pickups with the same signal chain and mix?
sounds like a hotter nailbomb to me. that crunch is there
man it sounds so awesome.
Does the Ragnarok reduce string vibration because of the magnet? I heard high output like the Rags reduce the sustain. Should I get low output like the Polymath/aftermath for better sustain?
It's not so much high output pickups that pull harder on the strings, but very specifically those with a strong magnet set. The Ragnarok does have a fairly powerful magnet in the bridge, but so does the Aftermath. Neither of them are likely to strongly impact on the sustain of your strings when set up at an appropriate distance. The effect that you will notice if the magnets are pulling too hard on the strings are "wolf notes" which are howling frequencies created when the magnetic pull creates a false harmonic. These are most commonly associated with the neck pickup sitting too close to the strings.
With Ragnarok VALHALLA IS COMING ! XD
dat last groove doe...
Sick jams
I thought this guy was going to start explaining why he thinks the Twilight of the Gods is upon us.
I want the pickups with 12 pole magnets with polymath or ragnarok sound :(
