Picture cruising down South LA on a sunday afternoon at 6:49pm with this song soothingly playing while you're riding around those palm trees and that breeze as you turn towards the sunset and see those same palm trees cover all the scenery in such a picture perfect moment.. California never cease to impress me.
I remember getting stoned to this song everyday when I was 15 just wanting to leave my small childhood town and see the world. Now 24, live the otherside of the world and have seen a fair bit in the last 9 years. Time goes fast but good songs are timeless.
I have listened to this guy's music for a while now, and I didn't realize he stared in a lot of my favorite films. Man I cant believe he quit. His music is great.
Being a 4 year old kid first seeing Biker Boyz and The opening scene to this with all the nostalgia graphics and transitions and the SOUNDTRACK of the movie 🔥🔥😈 I’m 25 now and everytime I hear this song I watch the movie right after and it’s the reason I have 2 Suzukis right now 🔥🤘🏾
My suggestion list brought me here. Then, realized it was the intro to one of my favorite movies growing up, (Biker Boyz). Loved the song, just didn't know who it was from. little did I know till now it was one of my favorite artists... loving it
For me this song reminds me of the film ‘Biker Boyz’ It’s one of those songs that instantly takes me back to a specific time in my life where things were good, it’s crazy and unbelievably amazing at the same time how much music can impact us all and effect us in 100’s of different ways but that’s just the pure magical thing about music! 💯
The flow the smoothness homie growing up watching biker Boyz I ain't even know the actual story to it just some guys racing man❤️now that I'm older I know the meaning
This is such an iconic song. It takes me back to my younger days when I first got my bike and would dream of going to meets like in the movie. In lower AL. this didn't exist. I make it a point to watch this movie at least once a year. Burn rubber, not your soul!

Maybe when an artist write a song or compose a beat, principally on hip hop, they just don't imagine all the people that are gonna feel like they'r in heaven listening to their sound. This kind of music is limtless, infinity.
I remember being 4 years old and biker boyz came on I’ve been hypnotized ever since. That movie and my dad (RIP) made me wanna ride to this day. My first bike coming 🤞🏾
*Música do filme Corridas clandestinas. Esse filme além de foda, tem musicas boas. Curto muito essa aqui e também a música Don't Look Down By David Ryan Harris. Lembro que quando eu era pequeno assistia direto no DVD.*
The moment I heard this song playing in the background of Biker Boyz, I was hooked by this song so instantly. It’s so mesmerizing and hypnotizing. Each time I listen to this song I get goosebumps, and it takes me to another place.
When beats and the right voice comes together the lyrics don’t need to make clear sense it’s the energy and vibe put out by artists making the listener feel a real genuine feeling and connection to a song. Fake fabricated music can not recreate these feelin real artist make you feel All praise the real ya can’t fake the funk 2020 vision lol
The song you're hearing without the vocals is Mahavishnu Orchestra - You know, you know. They are a jazz rock fusion band from late 60s, and 70s. Containing the legendary drummer Billy Cobham and guitarist John Mclaughlin, along with the electric violin player Jerry Goodman. If you digged this, check the original stuff out ;) PS: Mos Def is a legend.
Yeah, but Mos wasn't playing any of the instruments. This was ripped from a 1971 Recording of a track You Know You Know from the album Inner Mounting Flame by Mahavishnu Orchestra. This recording of the music was done before dumbass was even born. He's just a lousy singer/rapper trying to take advantage of other people's hard work and dedication to music.
@Elijah I just know that the music today is mostly garbage. I grew up where you had actual musicians that all knew how to play a musical instrument. You study either self taught, private lessons and/or going to a music school to learn how to play. It's a lot of HARD work to be able to reach a level where someone will call you up and get paid to do a gig, etc. It's a LOT of work. Taking a sample of someone else's work is easy. Any 5 year old can learn how to do it. And the problem is there's not much in the way of intelligence, heart, soul and emotion behind taking a sample of someone else's musical performances, taking a couple of measures out of context to THEIR music and then cut, copy, paste, paste paste paste is just a few mouse clicks. The whole concept of learning to play a musical instrument and become accomplished in a variety of different styles of music like Blues, Jazz (different styles), Latin, and other music forms from around the world, can actually be combined into new forms of music. That's where things become new and different. But you have been educated in computer based music and how to effectively plagiarize someone else's hard work and act like it's YOURS. I'll bet you any amount of money that 99% of the people that listen to this song NEVER heard of Mahavishnu Orchestra, NEVER heard of the song it's based on, and NEVER knew that the music of this song was created by other musicians and you think Mos Def played all of the instruments or created it all himself. His vocal part sounds literally like he sat back, smoked HUGE amounts of weed while he raps some stupid lyrics, tries to sing, but can't and it just sound stupid. But since you are so attached to Mos Def, someone like me comes around, exposes the truth and you take it personally. Don't. I'm not attacking you, I'm attacking someone with no actual talent effectively stealing someone else's hard work and making money from it and probably more than the musicians involved with this song. is that fair?
@Elijah Then you are being really naive. No, it's not a competition, but there is such a thing as good music and bad music. There's also a thing about being AUTHENTIC vs PHONY, like REAL vs PHONY. There is also music that has intelligence/high level of consciousness and various types of emotions. Is it based on anger? Hate? Love? Passion? You can list a lot of different types of emotional words that can be applied to music. Does the music relax you, motivate you, excite, etc. There's also things about exposing yourself to as much music as you can and listen to level of musicianship, styles/cultures, forms of music. Can you identify certain music forms in music that combines many forms of music into one? And lastly, there is a thing about an artist (true artist) and a con artist. Some based their playing styles on someone else vs being an original.
@Elijah Well, that's what you need because your other statements were coming from a place of ignorance. Maybe in 10 or 20 years from now, you'll understand if you can't. I grew up listening to Mahavishnu Orchestra and have seen different versions of the band live, have listened to each of their recordings thousands of times since the '70's. So when some asshole takes a sample of a couple of measures and creates another song and ruins it. IMO, by putting stupid rap and horrible singing on it, he basically, to me, took a shit on it. That's what is offensive to me. Just being honest.

Picture cruising down South LA on a sunday afternoon at 6:49pm with this song soothingly playing while you're riding around those palm trees and that breeze as you turn towards the sunset and see those same palm trees cover all the scenery in such a picture perfect moment.. California never cease to impress me.
He's the only east coast rapper who actually pays homage to my California 💯
I remember getting stoned to this song everyday when I was 15 just wanting to leave my small childhood town and see the world.
Now 24, live the otherside of the world and have seen a fair bit in the last 9 years. Time goes fast but good songs are timeless.
I have listened to this guy's music for a while now, and I didn't realize he stared in a lot of my favorite films.
Man I cant believe he quit. His music is great.
He quit because the rap game is garbage.
Why waste quality talent? Respect Mos Def.
+Sushant B. nall his green card got denied whenever he tried to come back to the U.S.A after being gone for a year.
He didnt quit. Search Yasiin Bey. It's him.
Yasiin Bey He just retired
***** Oh wow! Wikipedia stated that, and I didnt know that he continued to make music! Im gonna search it up now!

Being a 4 year old kid first seeing Biker Boyz and The opening scene to this with all the nostalgia graphics and transitions and the SOUNDTRACK of the movie 🔥🔥😈 I’m 25 now and everytime I hear this song I watch the movie right after and it’s the reason I have 2 Suzukis right now 🔥🤘🏾
I HATE that this song isn’t on Spotify..😩😭

Mahavishnu Orchestra - You know you know. Not this song, but the sampled one, the song is an expreience
you can download it as a local file with ytmp3.cc and then use it as local file in Spotify.

This song is what California is all about. Excitement, Relaxing, great music. Every trip there this is bumping to and from.

This song is literally one of the only reason I like Biker Boyz lol
I heard People think Mos definite is stupid, but how can he be with music like this and more. He's a legend and he will live forever.
This is such an iconic song. It takes me back to my younger days when I first got my bike and would dream of going to meets like in the movie. In lower AL. this didn't exist. I make it a point to watch this movie at least once a year. Burn rubber, not your soul!
Unfortunately not. Just moved to AL from DC. Wish the bike meets were prevalent down here like they are back home.
This is the place... they say
People come from far, far, far away to find their dreams
Chasin' down these meteors and comets
(chasin' 'em, chasin' 'em, chasin' 'em down)
Called dreams, in the sky of life
(chasin' 'em, chasin' 'em, chasin' 'em down
chasin' 'em, chasin' 'em) There certain hot spots
Where these meteors and stars have tendency to fall
And legend has it that California is one of those spots
I believe that to be true
They say this is the place stars are born
They say this is the place (place) legends are made
They say this is the place where angels congregate, ay ay
They say that this is the place where it all can happen for you

California knows how to make dreams seem so sweet

How Black Dante aka Mos Def recreates samples from other artists and does them justice if not best, is mind blowing and that to me is what an Artist is! We're not gonna be lucky to have more like him.
Don't forget Mahavisnhu Orchestra start the feel here.
Mos Def brings the rest. Great feel

I will never forget this song. It's the intro song to one of my favorite movies ever and it's a deep song.
These are tracks by Mos that i enjoyed also very much growin up: UMI says, Climb, Travelin Man, Modern Marvel, The Panties, Life is real
Just to name a few. God mode :)
thx for recommendations
Hugo Voss the boogieman song 🔥🔥🔥
Maybe when an artist write a song or compose a beat, principally on hip hop, they just don't imagine all the people that are gonna feel like they'r in heaven listening to their sound. This kind of music is limtless, infinity.
Listening to this while im on my Gen 3 Busa… shit makes me float 💯 i dont feel nothing, see nothing but a tunnel, a real out of body experience
I love to see music bring us together, no matter the race. It’s beautiful 💯
Timeless music. Definitely not just a song. I lay back and just vibe
I feel like getting on my motorcycle and riding all night to this song
I remember being 4 years old and biker boyz came on I’ve been hypnotized ever since. That movie and my dad (RIP) made me wanna ride to this day. My first bike coming 🤞🏾
Biker boyz brought me here
Same here, love that movie.

This song just takes me somewhere else
I love it whenever mos Def sings he has a beautiful voice. I wish this was on streaming services
You're a star...keep on shinin'
*Música do filme Corridas clandestinas. Esse filme além de foda, tem musicas boas. Curto muito essa aqui e também a música Don't Look Down By David Ryan Harris. Lembro que quando eu era pequeno assistia direto no DVD.*

Guys, are you still alive? 💀💀💨
The moment I heard this song playing in the background of Biker Boyz, I was hooked by this song so instantly. It’s so mesmerizing and hypnotizing. Each time I listen to this song I get goosebumps, and it takes me to another place.
i always feel at ease wen i listen to this
This is sooooo smooth and chill
When beats and the right voice comes together the lyrics don’t need to make clear sense it’s the energy and vibe put out by artists making the listener feel a real genuine feeling and connection to a song. Fake fabricated music can not recreate these feelin real artist make you feel All praise the real ya can’t fake the funk 2020 vision lol
Mos Def is so underated......a true living legend !!!
Best movie intro behind Belly!
If you digged this, check the original stuff out ;)
PS: Mos Def is a legend.
Ouais...
the correct terminology is sample, thank you.
How are you gonna exclude Jan Hammer, legendary keyboardist and producer of the score for Miami Vice from this ensemble?
Ty I always want to explore where the artist got the sample
Only real music like this can take you to another place 💯💯
@Elijah If you learned nothing, that's pretty sad.
This gone always be a beautiful song
The state of euphoria that this song puts me in is unmatched. Almost 21 years later and this song aged like a fine wine. Well done, Yasiin Bey.
This song is a time machine. I look in on my past life when I hear it.
this would definitely be on my "rainy day cruise through the city" soundtrack....
