    Congrats on your find/purchase
Back in the early 1980s I "almost" purchased a big block 1969 MACH I, cost was only $2900 for a rust free example (gosh have times changed).

I hope you get lucky and find the original 428 CJ . A friend of mine bought a 1970 LT1 4 speed Z28 . It was missing the LT1 and he knew who had the engine . The car was kind of famous in the area so he knew the engine whereabouts .

that's a great story @davedavis775 we have a possible lead to someone who might know more about the original motor

The 428 would be great, but that 351C is a great motor to build, so you have options if you cant find the 428!! I'd put the 4 speed back in though!!!❤❤❤❤

No such thing as matching numbers on Ford's so you can just find a date match 428 and call it good

The 1969 headlights are not in the turn signals locations as you show. They go outside of the 1970 headlights

3:56 One of the best insulators is "air-space", and there is significant air space between the black louvers and the vehicle interior (not to mention the rear glass).
The shade provided does help keep the vehicle's interior cooler due to overall solar loading.
While white is one of the best colors to keep surfaces cool in temperature, that color would look ridiculous were the louvers painted that color.
So, in the case of the louvers, style and continuity won out as the louvers match well with the blacked-out front hood.
BTW, the hood is painted black to reduce bright sunlight reflection, so again, style and function won over (verses choosing a white hood to keep it cooler).
