    For someone who was never meant for this world, I must confess I'm suddenly having a hard time leaving it. Of course, they say every atom in our bodies was once part of a star. Maybe I'm not leaving... maybe I'm going home.

      i think after going through so much, he might have fallen in love with the journey hence bonded with Earth and its inhabitants and environment and formed a bittersweet sentiment for it.

      This and City Lights are the films I identify when my friends and I talk about craftsmanship. Gattaca is a brilliant example of music amplifying the visual.

      If I only could choose a OST it would be this one. The departure and The other side are simply perfect. They represent all the sweetness and madness that Nyman can deliver.

      His music is great art in movies that are built around artistry and craftsmanship. No dinosaurs, exploding planets, or giant robots. Hollywood cares about box office and popcorn sales. Brilliant music takes a back seat.

      Same year as Titanic... I think Gattaca' sountrack (and movie) was better, top 3 movie and OST on my list, but Titanic had to win it all that year... But the fact it wasn't even nominated... that I can't understand (only nominated on Golden Globe).

    The only way you can succeed is to see me fail?.... I was totally blown away by this movie and this Micheal Nyman masterpiece fully narrates the story perfectly. After 20 years I'm still blown away. The human spirit can exceed the potential of any limits defined by the genetic code. A true statement till this very day

    Profound and poignant. Truly epic soundtrack to a beautiful and inspirational movie. Love the solo piano simplicity at the start of this version. There is definitely no gene for the Human Spirit nor substitute for the Human Dream.

    During the last scene on his last urine test. The sampler spoke of his child, saying he's a big fan of Vincent. That child is us. Vincent isn't famous, being an Astronaut must be common during that future. How could that child possibly know Vincent, because we the fans have seen what Vincent has done. And it's inspiring, who knows what we can become.

    Gattaca would have been a good movie without it, but with this score the intention and the feeling were made that much clearer and more poignant. This music resonates with me as much as anything I've ever heard..
    That last line from the movie, though - "Maybe I'm going home" - if you don't quite get it, it sounds like a bit of cheap nonsense... and the thing is, I don't quite get it.

      ThePoonDoctor In the movie, he says: For someone who was never meant for this world, I must confess I'm suddenly having a hard time leaving it. Of course, they say every atom in our bodies was once part of a star. Maybe I'm not leaving... maybe I'm going home.
      Meaning that his body is made of atoms from space, so he is going home (into space)

    • @MrIrishMoore1
      @MrIrishMoore1 9 лет назад +8

      ThePoonDoctor His true home was among the stars - it's where the atoms in his body came from, and it's where he's wanted to go all his life. He comes to realization that he is returning to the true place of his origins, to his dream.

    • @68404

      He didn't fit in on Earth. Things had changed and he did not belong in this new DNA mapped society. Hence maybe he was going to his real home.

    • @aaabbb8812
      @aaabbb8812 2 месяца назад

      His comment is bas3d on the ieea that all of the elements that came together to create Earth came from outer space... The idea that ultimately, we are all made of stardust. If from a scientific standpoint that IS the teuth kf our origins, then going into space is going BACK into space in fact, in which case, we are moving towards our source (star material) so in essence, we are going home.
