    Before starting this tutorial I recommend that you make the 2 images of Earth (day and night) exactly the same size! This will make your job a lot easier when you're trying to layer it on top of eachother, I wish I had known it before. Thanks for the tutorial anyway, I'm happy with the end result.

    • @curiousrefuge
      @curiousrefuge  7 лет назад +2

      CoRE -eu great suggestion. As long as the earth doesn't need to rotate this would save a lot of time!

    • @CoREeu
      @CoREeu 7 лет назад

      I still have it rotating, so in other words.. I'm gonna run into trouble again soon? Haha.. I adjusted all the settings though so I don't think I will run into trouble :) I'm having so much fun with AE, but I'm also studying Animation and Film so I feel the urge to get better, but there's so much to do and learn it's insane, I just want to do everything you know... Like.. I open 1 tutorial and then 10 more pop-up, which also look very interesting.. that's actually how I ended up doing this tutorial too. Thanks for the fast reply, awesome!

    When you add in the star background you lose the atmosphere edge. I put the atmosphere comp layer to 'Screen' instead of 'Soft Light' and turned down the opacity a bit to get it back. Not sure if anyone else noticed but hope it helps for those wondering :)

    Hey, this was an incredible tutorial. Extremely clear and well explained. Please keep doing more like these, you were a massive help! It is sad to me your audience hasn't expanded more yet, you definitely deserve more subs. You got me! If I can suggest one thing, no one seems to do this, but it would be helpful if you explained what each perimeter does as you adjust them. Thanks again!

    Following through this now and enjoying it. Thanks! If you bring the day, night and clouds images into Photoshop first and make them all the same size, you can save yourself some work in AFX. That's how I did it anyway as I am faster in PS than AFX.

    • @curiousrefuge

      You could probably fix that by precomposing your comp with the camera and applying the masks in the final comp.

    Hey man!
    Big thanks for this incredible tutorial!
    But as i understand laws of physics i have few questions about how to make it more realistic:
    1. Glow from the Sun will be different for Water and Land
    2. There should be shadows from the skies. And they should change shape as sun moves up
    3. I know you mention how to animate cloud layer, but i don't understand what you mean.
    Could you help me, how is this possible to achieve with AE?
    Sorry for the questions, as i novice in AE and don't know how to solve this on my own.

    HEY BROTHER. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS TUT. I WAS ABLE TO FINISH THE WHOLE THING. YOU EXPLAINED EVERYTHING SO CLEAR. I HAVE A QUESTION. CAN I MAKE IT LONGER THAN 10 SECS? HOW WOULD I DO THAT? IN COMPOSITION SETTINGS? IF DONE THERE WOULD IT MESS UP THE WHOLE TIMELINE? PLEASE HELP BRO. I NEED THE EART ROTATING FOR ANOTHER 5-10 SECONDS WHILE THE SUN IS UP. THANKS SO MUCH

    • @curiousrefuge
      @curiousrefuge  7 лет назад +1

      +Rahsaan Rees thanks for the kind words. You can very easily extend the animation by changing the composition duration in the composition settings window. Then just extend the key frames by holding down the option key while you drag all of the key frames to match your new composition length.

    • @r335
      @r335 7 лет назад

      Brother thank you so much. I'm gonna make the changes today. I know this tutorial was done a year ago but this is the best one on youtube and looks the nicest. Is there any way you can do a tutorial that continues this effect into a zoom to earth effect? Like how it goes from Earth right through the clouds into a location? If not that's cool bro. But thank you so much again. I've learned so much from this!

    • @r335
      @r335 7 лет назад

    • @curiousrefuge

      +Escape Subterraneo very interesting. Did you set the transfer mode of the stars to screen?

      Thanks for your reply. Yes I have set the transfer mode to screen, however it does not seem to make any difference and If I not mistaking the atmosphere got lost on the tutorial as well. what else could I try? Like I said before I can see the atmosphere when hiding the stars layer. Regards Emilio

    • @curiousrefuge

      +Remobanism Sometimes depending on your hardware and project configuration you might have a project that is simple too much for your computer to handle. When this happens to me I use a render farm service to export my AE projects. It is literally 100x faster. I'll do a future tutorial on how it's done. I typically use Pixel Plow.

    • @Jurr

      For me it helped to lower the Bits Per Channel (bpc). In your Project tab, at the bottom, it will say either 8, 16 or 32 bpc. Hold 'alt' and click on the number to change it (for me it was still on 32, and setting it to 16 did the trick. But you might have to set it to 8 depending on your PC).
