i'm a beginner in adobe after effects and i can honestly say it was fun doing this altho i think i may have messed up slightly but still i thin i did an excellent job for a beginner loved your vid on this
thanks for the this I did but I stopped at the flare cus I don't have that video copilot plugin I tried to make my own flares but didn't work out as good
The power that these computer programs give us to be able to create such beautiful and immersive work is astounding. If I had the skills to do what you do as fast as you do, I would never be broke.
What an amazing piece of work! I'm a long way from being able to follow your directions, but it does give me a goal to shoot for as I learn how to use After Effects. Yours truly, Old geezer dog trying to learn new tricks
Thanks Keith, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I do have a couple of videos which go into the essentials of After Effects for beginners if this is too advanced. Also let me know if you have any specific requests of things you'd like to learn 👍😊
Thank you so much man. I remember leaning about this in my class, but I had forgotten most of it. You just recapped a whole unit in an enjoyable 22 mins. Thanks for reinspiring me to practice AE
Thank you so much! This is the best ae-tutorial, I've ever seen. I'm an absolute beginner and was easily able to make this tutorial! You are absolutely stunning! Keep on!
This video tutorial is amazing, I didn't know you can make things like that with after effects. The way he explain step by step is amazing, very professional. Thank you for this tutorial.
Wow. I am going to say, you do this for a living. I am an Actor, slowly trying to venture into Writing and Directing and I wanted to see, how hard it is going to be trying to use my new SFX Program and 4K Camera and equipment. But you are truly talented and I need Allllottt of practice, if I want to understand even a little bit of what you just did. But again Great job.
Thanks for this, did a trippy space adventure, edited again with premier pro, and added "Rocketman" to it! Thanks a lot for the guidance. I'm a newbie here, just been a week
Im good at premier and that stuff but I really wanna make a sci-fi space movie soooo time to pick up after affects, thanks this inspired me to do so thanks!
Damn that turned out really good, thanks for the video! I couldn't quite follow everything, as I'm extremely new to AE, but this really showcases how powerful AE can be!
well I definitely over estimated my knowledge clicking on this „advanced“ tutorial! Edit: After looking a few things up, I actually learned so much and got along quite well. I posted my version on my channel.
You're good. With my help, you could be the best. Haha, kidding, animation is not my field. And this was so awesome I shared it on my FB page. Very impressive
Exceptional video! You've got a great way of keeping us at ease as you go through some fairly complex features, thanks so much!- Quick question- I'm using all the resources at my disposal to try and master these tools in my free time. Are there any books/guides that you'd suggest are particularly helpful for improving these skills? Many thanks!
Loved the tutorial. Thank you so much 😁. Subbed! Also, I managed to do the flares with Lens flare since I didn't have Optical Flares and I managed to get the same result 🤓.
Hi thank you for providing the amazing tutorial ..I'm following this now but I have a little problem in the Optical part . I'm using after effect 2017 There is no source cartegories in the foreground layers of optical flares to choose "effects &mask" so I just put the Opticle layer on the earth layer but the result isn't as natural as you did .. is there any solution? Your tutorial is really amazing.
Great Tutorial, but i have one tiny issue with the Flare effecting the Spaceship and the Glove mask i did. Even though the Shuttle is not on the image while the Camera moves backwards the flare starts to flicker like its mask is hitting it. Tried to redo the whole thing and got the same allignment as you do but the Flare is still kinda hitting the mask way to early. Hope you can help me even though its already 2021 lol.
So rare to watch a tutorial made by someone doing it not to show off and precise in his explanation. Just talk a little slower; don't forget you may have foreigners watching your great work.
very cool BUT - when that space station blocks the sun, theres no trace of the sun outside of it. I would think somethign THAT bright would have some sort of brightness? Not sure the solution here
You could duplicate the spaceship layer, bring the duplicate into photoshop and paint a rim light on the edges of the window the sun will pass behind, then fade that layer in and out of opacity as the sun passes behind it. I'm sure there's a better solution but that's the fastest/easiest one that comes to mind to get a rim light
yeah i think that would work. Thanks for this tutorial. I feel like i'm just scratching the surface of AE. And when i see something like this where i'm pretty sure i know what to expect, you show some technique that i wasnt are of!
DOD Media gracias amigo...de verdad me da congoja porque tienes mucho talento y ese efecto esta mortal si me puedes recomendar un youtober que hable español y haga este tipo de efectos te lo agradecería muchísimo...saludos
You need to create your own stars. Not use some Stock photo. I could clearly tell they weren't real just from the opening. Use Element 3D and replicate a bunch of small planes and scatter them. After that, add a slightly sky blue glow. Bam. If you can't buy element, use the Starburst effect and make it a 3D layer
Great advice. The point of this though was to teach the compositing part with the ship, but certainly if you want to go the extra step on the background, you need to simulate it.
Всё хорошо. Но направление теней на раме окна отличается от направления лучей солнца. И подтёков на стекле МКС, в силу невесомости, не может быть. Грязь на стекле может оказаться, но не подтёки. Это некритично, но почему-то сразу заметил.
This was a very quick job to explain how to do it. It's down to you as a creator to take these skills and make the product perfect. The shadows might be in the wrong direction, but you can spend more time finding stock imagery that has them in the right direction. Same for the dirt/smudges on the glass. Maybe an astronaut ate some chicken wings and then put their hand on the inside of the window :-)
Who made it through this one? 🙌 I think I need to polish up my Green Screen skills before I do a tutorial on that 😅
I made it through this one. You are a great teacher, I really learned so much just following you 😁.
Made it through, and thank you! And I'd love to see you do a tut on green screen.

great tutorial, I think even if I was just starting I would be able to understand everything you do.
Thank you so much! This is the best ae-tutorial, I've ever seen. I'm an absolute beginner and was easily able to make this tutorial! You are absolutely stunning! Keep on!
You're very welcome!
This video tutorial is amazing, I didn't know you can make things like that with after effects. The way he explain step by step is amazing, very professional. Thank you for this tutorial.

well I definitely over estimated my knowledge clicking on this „advanced“ tutorial!
Edit: After looking a few things up, I actually learned so much and got along quite well. I posted my version on my channel.
Were you able to follow along though?
DOD Media yes! It was very well explained, just kinda out of my current league. I‘ll come back to it later though. Tanks!
You have inspired me to add something like this into my year 12 major project.
Great to see someone from Dublin showing it like a pro ... usual question what’s the best spec. For after effects, do you need to sell you’re house?
Thanx man u nailed it perfectly. Just subed ur channel

lots of fun!
Perfect!
great tut brah
Thanks!!
It’s look amazing 😉
amazing !! that's the tutorial man :)
Can you instead of using a preset flare, make your own flare and mask it step by step so it fits the spaceship and glove?
Oh course! Once you have the source of the flare placed, you can do whatever you want to it.

What are your specs mate? Your AE render incredibly fast!
Nice video
Wouldn't it just be easier to switch the blending mode to Screen or add?
awesome
Could anyone show me how to do this in blender for a school project
You rock
Can you please show me how to create a projector projecting photos in after effects......
Thanks
Only ythe intro already made me sub lol
I should make more like this huh!
A m a z i n g !
I try to make it looks to get through but I fail, please help me
can you rotate around a axis instead of panning out for more 3d shots
You'd have to assemble the spacecraft differently, since this is a series of flat layers over a Z space. You'd need to make walls.
Can you upload a link with a footage of the spaceship? PLS
Amigo excelente video...por favor explicalo o traducelo al español para ver tus tutoriales...yo me suscribi saludos desde colombia
