Brainstorming is good for manga, for example Who/characters - family, friends, animals/pets, enemies, teachers, personalities, gestures, emotions, thoughts, catch phrases, etc.. What - power, weapon, clothes, objects, brands, companies, vehicles/transport, rules, laws, hierarchy, size, colour, texture, shape, etc When - time, year, day, in between which events, past, future, present, etc Where - home, school, job, location, country, planet, lost items or person, events, where something happened, theme, background, etc. Why - reasons, motives, intentions, revenge, experiments, tests, being controlled/ manipulated, lying, goals, dreams, ideas, why something happened, missions, tournaments, etc How - explaining how things work, how you got there, how you won or lost, how you escaped, how you made something, strategies, plans, etc... character>personality>like > dislikes > hobbies > weakness/strengths > powers > skills > family > pets > what type of pet > names > gender > species > backstory>achievements or feats> friends >
one of the things ive learned for world building is basing a world off of a basic idea, like for me, i made a world based off of a belief that the soul resides in the eyes and made a magic system based on it
Yep in my story, everyone lives in a large underground world and the main character’s group is trying to fight against the nigh dystopian government keeping everyone underground. People have adapted to living underground, they’ve developed ways to grow trees underground and have developed technology to get around from layer to layer of the cave. It’s not necessarily that important to the story because the main character doesn’t really go down the cave depths but it gives the world a cool aesthetic and makes it seem more realistic.
Hey can you draw 20 style art figure characters or background of Coryxkenshi send your artwork on his Nov 9 birthday that be awesome because your favorite RUclipsr from past experience with this mail please 🙏 options make it in time for RUclipsr channel best of luck
Watching this video just confirms that my stories could actually gain a fan base, I just have so many ideas and don't know how to organize them if that makes sense.
If your planning on making manga, or mangaesque then i recommend looking at articles by Silent Manga Audition, i also recommend trying Jump Paint, they have manga lessons by some of the most popular mangaka.
10/10 This was straight to the point and informative. My favorite video from you this year. Thank you for approaching the authors half of making comics/manga. There are tons of authortubers but most aren't artist with illustration in their stories. Hopefully we get more videos like this in the future Whyt
I'm definitely more of a fan of a medium magic system, where certain aspects of it are very clearly defined and rigid, such as how one goes about creating their own unique spells and the process someone has to go through to do that. But then you have the spells themselves which could be literally anything the person wants to create and is only limited to their personal restrictions such as total mana, available resources for spell-crafting, view on how magic should be used, or the purpose of the spell itself. Hard: How they're made. Soft: What they can do, allowing for creative freedom in what spells are used by who and when.
Honestly that idea is COOL! I love metamagic and things like that, where the user can actually manipulate how their magic works, itself, rather than just using the same rigid spells over and over like in something like DnD
My favorite worlds are those that are somewhat of a new but now too far from what you'd expect. I like those where it's bright full of buildings like cities but mixed in with nature and space. I love when the view of sky. Filled with places that are share similarities but differences. Like the world you showed in this video, it's one I like. Overall something that can make you want to stop and look at the world when reading or gaze on while watching it.
Thank you so so much for not wasting time just to get to that 10 minute mark. You actually use all of this time perfectly, and if anybody is wasting time it is me writing this haha. I can see everybody else agrees with me but still...keep it up my man
Really appreciate the "within 10 minutes thing" thanks for that! :) Also I think my favorite worlds are the ones in media like Game of Thrones. I just love big medieval fantasy like worlds
My favourite worlds have to Fallout, The Witcher and Warhammer 40K. Fallout (particularly the games up to NV) and The Witcher because they are very well developed and morally grey, especially The Witcher series. 40K I love because it's just so over the top and massive that it's hard to find something you don't like, and being an older franchise it has encyclopedic amounts of lore (whether that's a good thing or not I leave up to debate).
There has been an idea for a story in my head for quite a while, and until I watched this videonI didn't know how much my fictional world actually laggs in certain aspects. Great video ! ^^
Favorite World, huh? Fullmetal Alchemist is up there, Naruto's is interesting, Anne Mccaffrey's Pern books had some great world building, Mystborn series, but my favorite would have to be the Myth Adventure book series.
My favorite world is in litteraly anything in escaflowne! The movie grabbed me in, since i could really relate.. From the buildings to the music, the names to story line... Its got major history with me.. Also the series isn't bad also.
I didn't notice how important world building was. Looking back on shows I love like Attack on Titan and FMA, I realize that their world building is godlike. Thanks Whyt!
does the uniqueness enhance the mood over all or are you just being different for the sake of being different.. man, that's a good one, really makes you ask yourself is this world's lore you're about to make is as believable and in depth as it should be.
Love your Artstyle man. I wish I could draw like that. Sadly, most of my "Skill points" if you will, went into writing. So I have no struggle writing 10 to 20 pages of story just from the top of my head. Yet, sometimes I feel a bit cornered. I don't know if you yourself ever encountered that problem or a similar one but as for me, I often get into the problem of "transfering" what I see in my own imagination to the script. I know that creating your own image of what certain things look like or happened like is a huge part of the readers personal imagination, which can be crutial in purely text based storytelling. But the kind of stories I write mostly work good as visual based storytelling. You could say that I am writing novels in the power fantasy / adventue genre. Or in simple terms "shounen" if it would be manga or anime. So fights and power systems do play a huge role in my stories. writing what you want people to "see" can be complicated. Ps: Sorry if my english isn't good. I am not a native speaker. I am actually from germany.
I feel you,i'm in a same sitation, I have so many great ideas i can easily write a whole 100 chapter manga but the problem is art.I'm not good at drawing. Also despite having great ideas I feel like I don't want to create a flaw further on Your English is amazing, You could easily pass as a native speaker.
I feel proud of how many of these points I already thought about. I lack 4 and 6. Great video! Edit. Its 3:30 AM but F- it. Thanks to this vid i was thinking about religion and symbolism and I came up with game- or in this case, story-changing idea. Thanks :D
one piece world because it very different from a lot of other things and creepy and special in its own way. Also it just all around unique show in many different ways.
Im constantly stuck in this mindset that my art is terrible. Ill make a piece of art I think is amazing at the time. Then people shame it and insult me on it and then I delete it. I have spent hours on end on art and have deleted it. Help.
7:36 I feel like the "traditions only upheld by old people are rejected by the youth" story is a overdone idea. Sure it may have some level of realism to it, but I feel like it's overdone. What about young people holding to old traditions they love? (I guess Aang from ATLA could be an example of this.)
I find the world of clannad the illusionary world from both part 1 and after story cause the world plays a roll in the main timeline which threw me off when I saw the end of after story.
I'm watching Saiki K on Netflix right now and it's funny. I'd like to get into Naruto, My Hero Academia, Bleach and Attack on Titan on Hulu. But, Netflix is free for me and I've got to wait till I have more money before I think about getting a Hulu sub. I got my Manga Whyt sub for free though :D
how did u learn to draw towns like this and how Long did it takes u to learn it O.O it feels so impossible for me to learn something like that but i really wanna learn it
Thanks for the tips I was planing to make my world based on science like take for example naruto vs Sasuke (second) final battle like what would happen to the environment or their body what would their battle have effect on them
@Whytmanga Can you do a video on rulers? Haha I just, for some reason, with inking pens the ruler destroys my pens and I'm just failing at rulers right now. Honestly a 2 min video would do
Thanks for your video. But I have some critique.1) You are talking to fast. It is really uncomfortable to chill an listen. As you have a international audience and some of them/us may not be very fluent you should try to talk a little slower. 2) most people on RUclips always say " do this do that you need this " and so on, but almost nobody gives an example. e.g. if I would ask you " could you describe me the world you have build for Apple black" how would you describe your world build and what exactly was your " thinking flow" to come up with this, why did you build it up like it is now?
Damn thats hella sick bro
Ayyyye ZHC love ur channel #ARTISTARMY pls collab

You my good sir have earned a new sub.
one of the things ive learned for world building is basing a world off of a basic idea, like for me, i made a world based off of a belief that the soul resides in the eyes and made a magic system based on it
Sounds like real life. Everyone knows the eyes are windows to the soul. 😉😆

"The world is it's own character" that right there is awesome advise. Strange how I've never heard that before.
Why did you make it a ten minute speedrun???? This information is so helpful and well explained so why restrict it to only 10 minutes?
I already made one that was 30 minutes. it's on the channel.
@@whytmangatv Nice ❤
What are your favorite worlds? Edit: 7 is a variety of ideas of the people.

this was a coincidence i was just thinking of making a new manga and was going over some world ideas
guy ziggy same asf rn 😂
If your planning on making manga, or mangaesque then i recommend looking at articles by Silent Manga Audition, i also recommend trying Jump Paint, they have manga lessons by some of the most popular mangaka.
An example manga lesson from Silent manga audition is manga originality come's from how charming the character(s) are.
This is what you do. You have to feel the world.
Its fate

Thanks man. I hope Apple black gets big! And when my comic comes out I want to calabrantion.
And be friends👌
Keep doing you man.
woah this environment lineart is very impressive! Also I think that you captured all the most important things about worldbuilding.

One Piece is a example of good world building
one ofc the greatest of all time, even
I love making up fictional worlds, and I look up real-world buildings and places as inspirations.
Thank you so so much for not wasting time just to get to that 10 minute mark. You actually use all of this time perfectly, and if anybody is wasting time it is me writing this haha. I can see everybody else agrees with me but still...keep it up my man
This helped me think of a world for my manga
What type of manga your making
Action
David Baptiste for me Immersive World Like Breathtaking World like you Suck in And Can’t Get out
Really appreciate the "within 10 minutes thing" thanks for that! :)

3:52 “The world is a character too.” THIS CANNOT BE STRESSED ENOUGH.
My favorite world is in litteraly anything in escaflowne! The movie grabbed me in, since i could really relate.. From the buildings to the music, the names to story line... Its got major history with me.. Also the series isn't bad also.
Brilliant, concise, and applicable to a wide range of genres and forms. Well-done!

does the uniqueness enhance the mood over all or are you just being different for the sake of being different..
man, that's a good one, really makes you ask yourself is this world's lore you're about to make is as believable and in depth as it should be.
This is a great intro into theme and world design. I am impressed you got so much detail in just 10mins. Thank you :)

I just started watching your tutorials recently--fantastic content my man, subscribed!
Why do i get anxiety when i watch it?😂
Thank you for your tips!
Why do we have to suffer in every video by adding background music... This creates constant noise and has become a style for everyone
Very detailed! Just started watching your videos!
I feel proud of how many of these points I already thought about. I lack 4 and 6. Great video!
