THE 'GLADIUS' FOLLOW-UP HAS A NEW DEMO | Emulated Mind #01 | ZEPHON

- Today we're playing the spiritual successor to Warhammer 40k: Gladius - Relics of War. It's called ZEPHON, which refers to one of a couple of different invading alien races, and it's post-apocalyptic Earth, and we're playing as a cancer patient turned graphics card... If that seems a little confusing it's because I'm still piecing it together, myself.
If you enjoy this 4X goodness then be sure to go check out the demo that's on steam now: store.steampow...

I can imagine the thought exchange that originated ZEPHON's lore: "Come on, we can't possibly create a universe more grimdark and depressing than 40K" "Perhaps not, but we can give it our best shot!"
I have been loving the demo. I fell the same way, I hope this game gets a big audience. I personally favor going human tech over the others, but it’s fun having three lines of units you can choose or mix and match.
Awesome. A good demo of a good looking game. Let's see how it plays.
I don't know if it's like this in gladius, but cover and positioning is huge in this game. You'll probably notice the ai is always shooting from trees or ruins, and it is actually very helpful in surviving. Also its funny youtube detected this game as gladius.
Yup, and I’m aware of it. It doesn’t help us when we get gooned by 3 undiscovered units at once, though :P
Cover and positioning are also a thing that matters quite a bit in Gladius
It's weird, because Zephon to me will always be the second boss in Soul Reaver. Loved that game as a kid.
Name reminds me of Sophons in Endless Space, or Zeffo in Jedi Fallen Order.
Goddamn this looks really cool
First :D also do more gladius with moooore scenarios ... and add higher upkeep to the units that will force the AI to spawn less units :)
He needs to do Necrons in Gladius he hasn't don't them yet.
This game looks superb
Makes sense to create the same game again, with all the work already done and without paying license to GW. :))) Smart on their side.
Surly growing potatoes will produce chips?
moar zephon
I think hijack applies on the death of the mechanical unit, not the death of the reaver? That's how I interpret it anyway.
So you could say you're playing as some sort of... Data Terminal?
Wanna know if they plan to release both Gladius and this on consoles.
I like the idea and setting of Zephon, but I dont feel the open faction designe
You make it sound like all factions are the same but they’re really not. Each leader has very particular benefits that change how you develop a lot. You can be a jack of all trades but you’ll be really slow to get your late-game tech that way. Having the option to be flexible is interesting, though
Wasn't my intention to make it sound like that. Its more that its my personal preference that I would like it better if the factions had some deeper Identity displayed by the troops they deploy and not primarily by the modifiers (including those through techs) and incentives they get, aside from their city designe, even with the game kind off being focused around to create your factions own story. It kind off got old quite fast with each game for me (mind that it isn't the release version yet) as I personally rather enjoy telling/playing a story with the factions identities rather than rewriting "faction" every time anew. But thats just a personal preference. And yes Im happy that it still feels more like gladius with the techs and gameplay than pandora: first contact or any of the civilisations games or homages (to not say clones)
Played the DEMO, totally better than Gladius
what would you say makes it better?
