Mahk vs Bank of America

- This video is based on an actual Bank of America experience.
The little guy vs big banks. Milton Berle once famously said to Richard Pryor, "Pick your spots baby." This scenario is a classic example of knowing when to pick your battles. Sometimes it's easier to let the bad guys win. Then again, maybe it's time to start holding banks accountable for their actions. Perhaps Mahk's approach wasn't the best way to do it, but it's a start. The question is how can you defeat something that's "too big to fail?"

The American way!
Omg I hate them too! Really? Go to a different bank of America?! What the fucking fuck?!
My story is too much to elaborate but I completely boycotted them and always tell everyone I know!
You are getting paid exactly what your work is worth to the people you are working for (unless you make minimum wage, then it’s more than what it’s worth.) you are paid the lowest amount required to keep you there. That is how the system works. If you think you are worth more quit and go get that other job that you are using as a standard for how much you should be paid.
gunsandcarsandstuff you think you are proving a point, but you just reiterated his. Companies are selfish and greedy and do everything they can to make money including screwing their workers. We are all on the same page.
It's not just fast food workers who is underpaid its teachers, administrators etc. who dont get raises and keep the same stagnant wage while everything else in the world becomes more expensive. Any, company is going to pay their employees the lowest they can banks, colleges, hospitals. That's why you make our own company or become a doctor or lawyer and set your own wage.

This is why you don’t bail out failing companies. They just keep failing.
Well it depends on the company, if it's one of like 15 banks in the area then you can and should let it fail, if it's the one big car manufacturer or steel mill employing 70% of the town and bringing people in to the area etc, then that's a different matter
@@andyt2k Remember when the post office did banking so small towns always had a bank and the post office always had funding?
And paying executives ridiculous amounts of money for their failures.
andyt2k nope let it fail no matter how big or how many people it employees. Doing anything other then that is cronyism and distorts the free market. Vary few times will a company go bankrupt and have a factory or some other capital go unsold/un-utilized if it was profitable to do so. Inefficient factory’s in expensive labor markets need to fail for the market to correct itself.
E Wood well that’s up to the board to decide and I wouldn’t have a problem with it if it wasn’t our money being given to them.

Bank of america is the fucking worst. I finally gave up and used paypal via ACH. Which ended up getting stuck in limbo because paypal decided i couldn't verify my account without a utility bill at a permanent address in the country i was JUST FUCKING VISITING so i lost 300$ and had to transfer money again to a random girl i met on tinder via venmo who so graciously allowed me to eat that week because my hotel stopped allowing me to run a tab for room service.

“My tax dollars kept you in business”
AINT THAT THE TRUTH!!!
You do realize that BOA is a publicly traded company and has no connection to the government, right?
Uh, how utterly clueless as to how the REAL economy works... BOA, Citicorp and a dozen other “banks” that mingled their funds with Investment Houses they should NOT even be in business today... or did you miss 2008!
The Government they the Fed and AIG - made a deal with these “banks” to ignore generations of lending practices, create mortgages for people who couldn’t afford them and them mix this toxic paper with actual secured paper and float them in derivative markets as mortgage backed instruments. Of course they went south the minute the interest rate rose on a critical mass... but the GOVERNMENT assured these corporations that IT would “cover all negative arrears” ie LOSSES... and, once the melt down started, that’s exactly what the GOVERNMENT did.. a “bail out”
AND HOW DOES THE GOVERNMENT GET THOSE BAIL OUT $$$
You do know that every American Citizens is now responsible for our $22 TRILLIONS in operating DEBT and that will be paid.. one way or another... becomes its DEBT.
So WHO paid to bail out the banks?
@@TheGeoDaddy Too bad you don't understand the situation as well as you seem to think you do. You are connecting things that were unrelated and/or simply misunderstand. You may want to do some research before offering up conspiracy theories and baseless information. Let me clarify...
TARP is what you are trying to discuss. However, you have it all wrong. Most of the (big) banks that took TARP funds didn't even need it...but hey, when offered virtually free money, why not take it? Problem is that the money budgeted was all gone by the time the small and medium-size banks that really needed it got to the table. Whats more is that with very few exceptions, the borrowed TARP money was paid back to the government, plus interest.
Here is the financial meltdown in 2007-08, in a nutshell. In the 90s, our elected officials wanted to tout increases in homeownership, so they loosened lending regulations. There were no "deals" as you mention. The loosening of home-lending regulations coupled with the prolific investment in derivatives based upon mortgage securities created a house-of-cards effect, especially when some banks took things too far (low/no doc loans and fraud). Investments in the faulty residential mortgage-backed securities hit insurance companies hardest, as they were the largest single group investing in them. THE GOVERNMENT DID NOT COVER LOSSES of those companies. In the cases of some banks that also had large positions in MBSs (like Washington Mutual), the FDIC either sold their assets to other banks or dismembered them otherwise.
Again, do your research. You are correct about the current amount of U.S. Debt at ~$22 Trillion. However, you'll be hard pressed to find any TARP-1 or TARP-2 related funds in that figure. That was gone from the debt maybe 6-8 years ago or more. The vast majority of public government debt has came about from the sale of T-notes/T-bills and also trade deficit. NONE OF WHICH IS INVESTMENTS IN BOA.
George Rady Not really, he could’ve been dead since 1990 and it would make not change anything regarding the bailout.
People need to chill with that my tax dollars bailed you out, pay your salary, and bla bla bla.

"Let me put you on hold real quick"
The actual worst sentence
Some days I have to answer phones at work, and deal with shitbags, and thats definitely the most satisfying sentence.
Sometimes i get calls like that at my work even though i dont work phones and i tell them i'll put them on hold but idk how so i just set the phone down and run around like a chicken with their head cut off
Lol ranks up there with “ your call is important to us please Continue to hold” hey dipshit, if my call Is sooooo important to you youd pickup post haste!
The proper way to ask is, “Do you mind if I put you on a brief silent hold?” We can still here you. We just mute the mic so you don’t here us cussing 🤬 ourselves on your incompetence and why we need to help you move 20$ from your savings to checking to cover that dildo you purchased. That or we are asking another associate how we can resolve your issue.
stauner32 I'm so happy this thread is filled with people who've actually worked at call centers and know why we use that line :) You CAN'T take another call while you're on one, first off. Second, why the fuck would I want to?! What if I get tied up with two difficult customers? That's just asking for trouble. Finish one problem before moving on to the next. Three, as others have pointed out, putting someone on hold or mute is great for censoring yourself and getting yourself together when dealing with a difficult customer. And four, sometimes we DO need a moment to look something up but we don't want a customer breathing down our necks the whole time we're doing it. When I encounter a difficult situation, even if the customer is pleasant, I'll ask for a brief hold to go ask a manager for help or to research the problem. I try not to use holds excessively as that indeed is rude and on most calls, I don't use it. However, I appreciate having the option.

had the same scenario when trying to pay my mortgage with BoA with a personal check from BoA at a regional office. Cannot believe what their response was, " we don't accept mortgage payments here" , I mean it was the regional bank in a large city. Finally got a manager who accepted the payment, next month i was hit for late fees for non payment. Then i went to auto pay and they were taking two payments directly from my checking. I remortgaged my home with another bank
Over a decade ago my ma’s brother died tragically and very suddenly. My mom missed her payment by ONE DAY because yknow HER BROTHER DIED and they charged her a $140 fee even after she showed them his obituary. Bank of America can catch these hands
People are selfish monsters. God will destroy the world again. Man chose to rebel. Man's fault.
I read about a family who had a mortgage thru bad for america. they were on a plan where bad for america automatically withdrew the mortgage monthly from their account. The family banked with boa and had the mortgage loan thru boa. well, the mortgage was almost paid off and so boa "forgot" to withdraw the mortgage payment. So they FINED the family a shit ton of money for not realizing that boa hadnt withdrawn the money and when the family couldnt pay all the fines, boa forclosed on the house. Gary Oak yea this comment is weird why would you cash a 37 cent check
@@Carl_McMelvin Because I used to have a mostly forgotten account with Bank of America and they applied a whole bunch of low balance fees to it right to the point where it went negative and they demanded I send them money.
I couldn't close the account at the branch office because none of the tellers would take the fees off. So I called them explain the case and they got rid of the fees closed the account and sent me the remaining balance of $0.37 by mail. And money is money so when I was next to a Bank of America branch the next week I tried to cash it. And this is why all of my cash is now in credit unions. but given your dreadful response to this by all means put all your money in Bank of America they're the best bank ever!

Snap-On Auto Tech that’s just your average scam letter, not the bank I’d bet.
+Snap-On Auto Tech I would be curious to know if the customer service they called was the number given on the letter they received. If so, it's gotta be a scam. BofA would already have that info when they applied for the card. Most of these financial type scammers are out of India (Idea for you Mahk) They speak English well enough & Americans are used to the voices as corporations have been outsourcing customer service jobs to India for years now. Other common scams are contact from IRS (any excuse given for owing money) & they threaten arrest or court. If it's a local scammer, they'll say they will send an officer to pick up the money. If out of country they'll tell you that you can pay in iTunes or Giftcards & stay on the phone with you until you read them confirmation numbers. One more scam out of India (some Africa as well) is the malware that hits your computer from "Microsoft" & they'll fix it for you (and steal your info on computer, install viruses as well) The high tech version is the one different country agencies got where they froze the computer & would only unlock for a fee..that's a ransom & the virus is called ransomware.

n o it's the damn Bank secrecy Act. They treat everyone as criminals.
I got one stating I had an overdue balance on a bofa car loan I closed 15 years ago. It was a scam. If you look up the phone number it comes back to some fake storefront in arizona or something where 10,000 other shady businesses have a "phone line". They sent these things for about 4 months before they gave up since I wasn't going to just send a check. Funny enough I played the SAME GAME AS MAHK trying to get someone on the phone with no account number. Finally got a live person and she hung up on me because I couldn't give her any account number info so I had to start all over.
On the wall behind Mahk: "Thanks for the Bailout Money suckers!!"
In New York, banks charge up to $8 to cash a check, so they have an incentive to cash a check (from their own bank so they know it will clear) but take the same check over the state line to New Jersey, and state law forbids the charge. Changes the outlook from the bank, state to state.

It's the subtle details like the newspapers, signs, and objects in the background that make these videos so F'in awesome.
Right after the video ended, an ad played saying something along the lines of “if you’re considering the Chevy Silverado, instead consider the ram 1500”.
I’m dead!! 😂

“My tax dollars are the only reason you still have a job. Cash the check!” 😂😂 yesss👍
Bank of America is a shady company
My family used to live in a small Town House and the people who owned it had their tenants pay them through Bank Of America, and they always sent my Mom's Checks through several days late, and the Bank blamed it on us
She went up one day and threatened to sue the bank if they didn't start sending her checks on time, and made the manager hand write a letter to the owners of the town house explaining it was the banks fault, with his signature and everything
hell yeah dude your mom's a badass
Danny Blue Too true. Pence just broke the tie in congress and said that we aren't allowed to sue banks. We have to go through forced arbitration. We had a chance to get to sue banks... >:-/
EagleEyes20_20 yeah i dont believe that she wrote a letter and signed it
EagleEyes20_20 if you were using the online banking to pay the bill. It can send a check out and it has like a 3 day delay
you sir are "woke" they average joe doesn't know that, even when they can just look it up on youtube or go to a channel like secular talk.
I have been there so many times... "Operator operator OPERATOR!!!! A person could fix this so easily, let me speak to a real person!"
I love the nod to Kill Bill towards the end. 😂
I tried to pull all of my money out of my account and close it and they literally told me no. This was in 2008. They actually refused to give me my own money and close my account. They even charged me to close it in the end. Fuck Bank of America.
Jon Rivera it was 2008
I had 30 grand in a business account. They refused to close the account. They even said they didn’t have the money on hand to give me cash and refused to write me a cashiers check. I had to write a check at my other bank and drain the account then I went back and closed it with like $5 left.
This was 2008 back when they was failing and they started charging my employees to cash their checks. I thought the whole fee to cash a check was crazy. Now I guess they charge even more.
Stuckgrenadepin As one who worked at a Bank of America call center last year, they'll waive those for you if they failed to close the account before you were deployed. They can be heartless but they at least try to do right by service members. If you did run into hell though, I'd say on this issue that falls on the rep(s) and not the bank's policies. Then again, I worked there last year until the very start of this year so not sure if that policy was in place back then.
Jason Hannsz That is something I've always wondered about, removing large sums of money. I've never had more than a few grand in a bank account and the largest purchase I've ever made so far has been for a car and the down payment. But I figured the money is dispursed around in some way so that they indeed don't have tens of thousands to give all at once. If someone had the $250,000 limit the FDIC insures in an account, I think that branch would fail to exist if someone wanted all of it in cash all at once. I don't know the specifics but I think any of our money in a bank is actually being shared with others and maybe helps to fund loans? And then the money that is paid back, plus interest, replaces the money in your account...? I'm probably totally off base, lol. When I worked at BOFA's, call center, I mainly just argued with people about overdraft fees, lol.
Yeah, maybe that's how all banks work. And maybe that whole "economic crisis" is also related to how banks work. Fractional reserve banking
As soon as BoA took the bailout money, I pulled all my money out and put it into a bank that didn't fuck up tremendously.
Which...which one is that?
Sayem didn't know santander was in the USA
Love the signs in the background - "Cant Help? Put em on hold!" "Typo? Its our house now bitch" lol

Put your money into guns & gold
Don't tell nobody.
Ja Z yes
Ron Swanson?
Why tho?
I understand the gold but not the guns. why guns?
i watch u when u sleep : Democrats are always in office when the market goes for a noise dive. One of the first things Democrats will do is put restrictions on guns, parts, ammo and sales, so that makes what you have stock piled worth 5X the price you bought them at. Also if shtf you can hold your own.
So know mater how scary a monster may think he is, he has no idea of the monster staring back.
