    NO TWIST! We want a straight drop. And if the spike is 500’…. That doesn’t make it a 500’ coaster unless every single rider reaches said height. They can make the spike 800’…. But if my body doesn’t reach that height, it doesn’t count

      WT was the tallest impulse coaster for all but one year of its life at 215 feet, so I don't think that logic is sound.

      @@coasterfreakjr. I know it is true that the spikes are 215 feet, but the OP said EVERYBODY in the train has to reach 500 feet for it to count as 500 feet. Wicked Twister and its record is my argument that is simply not true.

    A non-twisted spike would be scarier going down. Maybe they can even add a little slope to the top of the spike that way you gives you some ejector airtime. And maybe they could add a little bit of beyond vertical to the spike to make it even better like 91° or something like that. It sounds like it would be good to pay tribute to wicked twister, but I don't think it'll be scary to go down and they already have a section of track that is twisted.

    • @coasterfreakjr.
      @coasterfreakjr.  Год назад +1

      Yeah, I think you're right it would be way scarier if they did that. And the idea of adding some ejector at the top I would love to see that implemented top-tier ideas!!

    I don't see a backward launch with that kind of acceleration. That is asking for whiplash lawsuits, unless they put a padded restraint in front of your forehead, which would mean redesigning the restraints in a fashion that I don't think has ever been done before. Not impossible, maybe, but I would think improbable.

    Each "wave" in the shoring is around 2 feet. That's probably a pump or maybe a generator inside (green box). Those are 5'x2'ish. using all that for scale, I keep coming up with an enclosed area about 30'x40'x50ish
    It might be a spike, but it ain't gonna be a record breaker.

      @@coasterfreakjr. it would be crazy to see if they extended the layout not only with a vertical spike and a kingda ka hill at the end, but imagine after the ride where you go through the vertical spike and the top hat you ended with around 15-20 seconds of banked turns, bunny hops or even inversions at high speeds. That would be crazy to me but it’s most likely never goona happen. But then again this is cedar point so you never truly know.

    Spike should be approx 520ft so the train will reach >500ft at the top of spike! 😉👌🙏... this way they can legit claim a 500ft height record for any coaster.
    I feel that a non-twisted spike would have more impact (would be amazing to look straight down and drop 90 degrees at that height). Keep the twist going down the tophat. I think most folks (speculation 😉) would like the initial launch to lead to a roll-back on the main hill, then up the spike for final a launch up and over the top-hat.
    Most folks would probably also appreciate a 🐰 🐇 hill or 2 or 3... added somewhere in the layout for a bit of airtime (also speculation 🫠).
    Thanks CP! Love ya!

    A Intamin engineer who is working on Dragster right now said they are adding a swing launch with a 510 foot spike ! And that they are adding a switch track. The track will be repainted and theme changed to F1 racing. Also the Que area will be moved to the South West side of Iron Dragon.

    • @TommonSensePro
      @TommonSensePro Год назад

      I almost believe you...until you said the queue would go to the southwest side of Iron Dragon...That would be a congested nightmare with Iron Dragon, Rougarou, Millennium Force, AND TTD:R right there? That leaves only Corkscrew's queue to be in that midway.

    • @MrHaaspaul
      @MrHaaspaul Год назад

      So people will still need to go by the TTD track to get to the queue and risk getting hit by a once in a million piece of metal? Unless of course there is a tunnel which would solve that issue.

Sounds kind of boring and a waste of money versus just fixing the launch and re routing the queue line... with that said I hope this is worth the wait and that it works out, most of their rides they do a good job on, and I hope this continues with this remodel!!

    • @Frankenberry
      @Frankenberry Год назад +2

      @@TommonSensePro Well, I think no matter what you do, adding a spike is going to lower capacity... But, I'm assuming they'll probably do some sort of turn table loading platform, or a slide over deal like on Ice Breaker or something, to allow them to run mulitple trains... Otherwise, I think you're looking at at something with extremely low capacity no matter what. Just having any kind of a swing launch is going to cause that automatically.

      @@coasterfreakjr. I just can't wait for it to be back lol... It's been my favorite coaster since it opened. I live in southeastern ky, so its a bit of a drive.. but its worth it. The year it opened, I was at Kings Island, chillin' in the line for White Water Canyon at about 8:30 on a friday night, and got to talking to this dude, we were gushing about all our favorite coasters, etc.. and out of the blue he says, "Have you heard what Cedar Point opened this year?"... And I'm like "No"... So, he proceeds to tell me how CP has just opened the tallest, fastest, coaster in the world... Its built by Intamin, and it launches you at 120 mph. I almost pissed myself😂... I turned around to my girlfriend at the time... I said c'mon... We're leaving lol.. We got out of line, got straight in the car... Drove to Sandusky, found a room in the dumpiest motel I've ever seen in my life (Kings Inn, or Kings Motel, something Kings lol)... and at opening the next morning I was waiting in line to get a ticket to get in and ride it lol... The lines were so bad and the ride had so many technical issues that day that I only got to ride it about 4 times between opening and closing... But that was it... I was hooked, and had found my still to this day "Number 1" :)
