Let’s take a minute to appreciate how cool is Gibson TV to show a 73 nice Fender Strat and compliment the flamed neck. That’s what this is all about; good instruments despite of the brand. Gibson it’s a hella good guitar company, so do Fender. Nice play, guys. Respect for that.

I really enjoyed this segment I have been corresponding with Howard about my 73’ J-50. I know ( it’s a Norlin era) but It’s a special order guitar and an odd one, it has rosewood back, mahogany sides, Sitka top. I think it was made as a personal guitar for a Gibson employee, anyway extra care was taken when made for sure, It’s a super light guitar as well and has volume and tone for days. Howard is going to do an appraisal for me soon. Carter vintage is a legend in Nashville and rightfully so. 🎶

Lorie Kemmeter Wow. That is a great story. I got my first guitar when I was 14 (in 1986). I didn’t get my first Gibson until 2017, but it did come from Carter Vintage.

But I missed out on Gruhn's (still at the old Broadway store) and Carter's because we came after business hours. Must be heaven in there. Someday I'll even buy a guitar there. For now it'll just have to be shirts and hats. Can't wait for my next trip to Nashville so I can stop in again.

If you want modelers, rack gear, Floyd Rose shred guitars, or any of that type of gear it takes less than 10 minutes to get to the nearest Guitar Center (on Thompson Lane) from Carter Vintage. I’m definitely not a fan of Guitar Center in general, but that location is tremendously better than any other Guitar Center location I’ve been in.
Mark, great job with the Ryman. I have some memories there, too....some great stories. I'm getting older, now.... thanks for reminding me of those good times and great memories, including one of Johnny Cash, on a real special night. Good job. Thank you for this one. .... Crossbow

Did a Route 66 type trip with my dad last year, started in Nashville and ended in California, Carter vintage was the best guitar store we went to. Would've been nice to see the electrics and amps that's there in this video as this video does no justice to that side of what's there, literally rare and random amps just laying around like it's nothing, the same type of things that would be the main show piece in most places. Absolutely amazing place, hope to go back some day.

Carter Vintage is the bomb. Such nice folks and some really special instruments there. Went there in February while I was in town for a Tedeschi Trucks band show. I spent a few hours there lol
My son loves this place. One day while hanging out there, Joe Bonamassa walks in carrying an old Gibson; he wanted the history and an appraisal. What was cool, a couple of other shoppers knew who he was and simply left him alone. I think "famous" people appreciate that more than we realize.
Arnold's restaurant across the parking lot is an absolute amazing place to eat! That's how I discovered carters. We went to eat at Arnold's and I seen carters and my life hasn't been the same since.
When I visited Nashville I stopped in at a number of the name guitar shops and Carters was by far my favorite. The fellow I dealt with was friendly and knowledgeable and the selection was great. I worked in a guitar store myself for many years and I appreciated the vibe and inventory. There were quite a few unusual and interesting items for the collectors. I later signed up for their online inventory email and ended up buying something that I was very pleased with.
Terrific store. The staff is extremely welcoming and they are happy to hand you a guitar that costs as much as a new car (or more) and let you play it.
Great video and great interview. The shop is just incredible.....never been there, on my to-do list. So much history. I'll bet the place smells awesome! Nothing like old wood. I don't think i have ever seen an interview with the owner and his wife. They seem like very nice, unassuming people and their philosophy of letting people play these instruments and not being all snooty about it is refreshing. I have been in shops like that and it isn't fun at all. I hope there are more pieces like this. Really enjoyed it!
I loved that my local guitar store never made me feel like I couldn't play anything. I came in there when I made $50 a week as a kid and played guitars that I'd never get to touch without a down payment at some places, then when I got a job and started playing out more, I made sure they were the store I bought from. Love the vibe of a good local music store

@@gibsonguitar If you don't already know where their singer came from go watch Rock Star INXS (youtube has all of the episodes). The house band was absolutely killer, especially the drummer. Brooke Burke was too :) And Ty Taylor (VT vocalist) was a contestant on that show. Very young then, but so much pure raw talent - quite clearly someone to watch.

Respect for not being shy of showing your compettitors guitars. I don't think Fender would have done the same. In fact I was blocked by Fender's Social media by saying the Telecaster was in my opinion superior to the Stratocaster. (Yes, nowadays people can even be offended by compliments)
One thing they don't mention... The staff! The inventory is impressive, obviously, but at any point in time you've got people like Poncho and Drew Smithers who are massive guitar masters in their own right. The reason this is "The Hang" is because there is always someone there to join in the spirit and nerd out about any piece in which you have an interest. The energy of CVG is one thing: Incomparable. Make the pilgrimage.
I was lucky enough to stop in a couple years ago and spent over 2 hours in there and never felt I was in there to long.Meaning like over staying my welcome.I can't remember if I bought anything but god they are NICE people.

That original Orville Gibson acoustic didn't get enough attention in this video. What a piece of History.
I wonder if the neck is slightly hollowed? I know he did that on some early instruments.
I don't know that's the first time I ever saw that guitar. It didn't get enough of love from Mark. Sometimes you have to lose your cool.
I looked on the entry for it on their website and it didn't say but it has that look. It's currently listed for 25K.

Yea! Vintage Trouble - excellent! And Carters is insane (in a good way).
Yes to both Vintage Trouble and Carters!!!
Visited Nashville one month ago - went to several guitar stores - I really enjoyed Carter's. Wish I spent more time there. Very cool. Bought a t-shirt!
Love that place!
What a tremendous video. Thank you. And what a tremendous store! I could spend hours (days?) in there just admiring all of those amazing instruments. Fantastic. And nice job by Mark showing so much music history knowledge and then throwing in some sweet blues picking like no big deal. I also love the way you guys appreciate the full history of instrument making in this country, including those from other brands. Looking forward to seeing more from this series. Oh, I almost forgot to mention the great camera work. Nice job!
Thanks for watching
Went there last year. NICE store!! Its a "Must visit" place if you are near Nashville!!
We agree
Thanks you! This video pleases the eyes and warms the soul.
Thanks for watching
coolest music store i've ever been to!!!!
That was a good watch!
Big big Thanks! :)
Totally agree!
Thanks for watching
Cool looking store. I hope to visit one day. Particularly enjoy the Carter's vids featuring Joey Landreth. Cool guitars, even cooler playing.
it's the definition of paradise!
Yeah it’s a great looking place!
@ipmala mmm I don't think so
So Mr Impaled..err Impala what is your definition of Paradise then? It's an opinion and I agree with it,Norms is also amazing, what do you like? Just asking.....you didn't say, just shit canned Eddys comment.....why?
@@angusseletto1511 Why do I have to answer to somebody who is only insulting me??? I have my own ideas, you have your ideas, so please respect me as I respecting you
Eddy you've totally missed my reply,it's to Impala, not you,I agree have another look at my comment,I'm a supporter of what you said.....silly billy
I’d drive another 9hrs from home just to visit again!
Wish I would’ve bought that black Gibson acoustic! It was featherweight light and sounded fabulous! Wish I remembered the model!
Pretty amazing store. Would have loved to have heard what that acoustic made by Orville Gibson sounded like===what a piece of living history!!
Respect for not being shy of showing your compettitors guitars. I don't think Fender would have done the same.
In fact I was blocked by Fender's Social media by saying the Telecaster was in my opinion superior to the Stratocaster.
(Yes, nowadays people can even be offended by compliments)
A cool guitar is a cool guitar!!! Thanks for watching
I love his store.
Nice job Mark. I can't wait to visit Carter's in October when North Dakota takes on Penn State at the Bridgestone Arena. Go Sioux!
Love the Scene!!
Thanks for watching!!!
Beautifully shot and edited and Mark continues to develop as an interviewer. best one yet!!!
Thanks for watching
Like that shirt Mark!
The jeans jacket is a nice change too! 🤓
I was lucky enough to stop in a couple years ago and spent over 2 hours in there and never felt I was in there to long.Meaning like over staying my welcome.I can't remember if I bought anything but god they are NICE people.
I love those Gibson videos.
My fave hang when I lived in NashVegas
Can't wait for Mark visiting Norman's
Just went today and had them put aside my first les paul!(a beautiful goldtop standard)
Wow! This look worth a trip from Minnesota to Nashville.
chicago & the burbs of chicago got some hidden gems
I visited last year and it was amazing. Great staff and awesome selection. Grabbed a few pedals and a really sweet ballcap!
