Coming from working in both start ups, corporations, and startups that got acquired by corporations - not trying to make offense but the people that stay behind to run what's left of an acquisition of a start up or small/mom n pop type company is exactly what you just described. Not only that, there are a an insane amount of new families produced after acquisitions if you run the statistics on childbirth in acquired company's employees lives between the before/after what I like to call the "responsibility" curves and the contrast between "active" and "passive" parenting as your kids age. Some people get too happy and just retire after that; others simply stay long enough to get retention bonuses and the brood out of the toddler years and then dive back into another start up. Contrary to popular belief, the lives of most startup employees is actually pretty great and fully flexible but it's balanced against risk management, which is why, a solid stint bringing your expertise to a venue that really could use it and can at least appear forecastable or sustainable is good for your family and your "career". There's a lot of stuff I *had* to learn that I probably never would have if I wasn't *made* to, and only part of that is of value, really. Instead of taking it personal and being angry or something, I knew it for what it was and when you can get good opportunities with a lot of freedom to flex, teach, and demonstrate, as well as grow your abilities and knowledge - there's something cool about watching a super enthusiast get a gig at a place that thrills their soul - I am glad they let you build the place. The demo shop is amazing too - everyone grab a demo shop guitar before they just aren't there anymore...at least there won't be the pile they're whittling down *right* now. Amazing stuff and I probably already used that somewhere. Anyhow. Sorry for the novel but as a person who's been through it all, professionally (a different field but a technical professional and a leader in my fields none the less), just loves and is secretly thrilled every time someone gets to spend corporate money on stuff that EVERYONE digs. Congrats Gibson for being smart and persuasive. :-)

Make the best guitar possible for the correct price point (you know their guitars DROPPED $500.00 US after JC took over, yes?). Labor rates in the US drive the bus here and I think they've done an amazing job. I've played the new original guitars and my belief is that they're exactly on the right path to reclaim their position as the market maker in the US. I admit to a personal bias: As a kid, I baled hay for Maybelle Carter ("Wildwood Flower") and grew up in an area where "That's a nice guitar, but it ain't a Gibson" was the ethos. I am, and remain a die-hard Gibson player, and as soon as I can convince my CEO of 33 years, I will own a gold top with P90s to round out my "collection". Now that I've closed my architectural business and I'm retired, I get to annoy people here in my neighborhood every day with my 76 custom run through either my Supro or Fender 57 Twin Deluxe. Life doesn't get any better! I watched Mark at Norm's on the RUclips videos. Never went there because I knew what would happen. I'm ecstatic for him and his success in Nashville. I honestly think that bringing in a guitar player to run the company was the smartest thing the board could have done. AND, I'M PLANNING A TRIP TO NASHVILLE TO WALK THROUGH THE GARAGE. Just wanted to write that in caps to prove I'm serious.

Right now they have a Maestro exhibit too showing the relaunch of their pedals! If you have the chance, visit the Gibson Garage, you won't be disappointed! Well done Gibson!
I've really been considering trying to get a job with them or another guitar factory in nashville...but it's a 2 and a half hour commute for me.would you do it?

If you feel like thats something that you want to do the go for it and who knows you might end up moving closer if you end up liking it. Luckily im in the air flying fighters so i dont have to do a lot of traveling back and forth to work unless we are overseas.

When I started playing guitar at 8 yrs old, I was excited just to buy a can of Gibson guitar polish, so I could own something that said Gibson on it. Now many years later I’m fortunate to own several Gibson guitars and still inspired by the brand, just as I was when I was a kid. This showroom is killer! Great work Mark & Gibson!
I can’t wait to see this place. I’m hoping to get out to Nashville for vacation next year. This will be my #1 thing we have to do there. Gotta check out Carters too.

I was fortunate enough to be traveling through Memphis for work and booked a tour of the factory. It was pretty cool to see how everything was made. At that time, they we're just doing the Semis. I must say Gibson has gone all in on this new place in Nashville, very impressive!
I had no idea the Garage had all this behind it, I got the opportunity to visit the garage in September of 2021, and it is absolutely incredible. I’m fortunate enough to only live two hours away, so if I wanted to buy a new Gibson/Epiphone/Kramer/Mesa, It would just be a short road trip to get it from the source. For those of you who don’t live near or around Nashville, but love playing music or just music history in general, I highly recommend stopping by. Its right in the heart of Down Town Nashville, and is a wonderful experience. The staff and everyone I interacted with was incredibly nice, and overall it’s just a great experience. Mark absolutely hit a home run with this one.
Wow! This is marketing and customer experience at it’s very best. Retired now, but I was in world wide marketing and product management for several healthcare companies and this best them all! Every aspect of the garage invites the customer in and brings excitement to the Gibson brand. The conveyor belt and wood selection are over the top. Makes me want to play better to get to the “Green Room”. Congratulations to Mark and the Gibson team to keep this word class brand alive and growing. Keep the videos coming!

Great place. I visited the Gibson Garage a few days ago. It was one of the hottest days in Nashville history, and it was still worth the walk from Broadway. I didn't want to leave.
Thanks to the guys at the Garage, visited yesterday, April 14, 2022. Played a couple Les Pauls, including one from the Custom Shop. Sounds so nice in that room. The staff couldn't have been less pretensious or judgemental. Just down home courtesy and encouragement. Also got to play a Petrucci Signature 3 channel Mesa amp, (with headphones). Once again, Nashville people in general are very friendly. I'm from California

If anyone really deserved to be snagged as a newer helpful employee at Gibson, it's Mark, he's one of the most important assets to move the company forward while looking back at the past, he's a true historian & knows how to set up new artists from all genres

His knowledge of Gibson guitars is astounding, I've only met one other person with that much savvy on the history of the Gibson & he's got a Les Paul named after him! I am English, living in England. I ordered a GLP Custom Left Handed ‘57 Reissue Black Beauty with Triple Hums and a Bixby. I ordered it in October 2020. I’m still waiting for it and the latest delivery update from the London based Gibson rep is end of May 2022!

This must have been a project of love. The love for Gibson and music alike. If I wasn't at the other side of the planet I would go there NOW. So many great ideas in one place. How cool is it that the guitars hit you first but then all the small details like stickers, casette tapes etc.
Mark. you have really outdone yourself! After a semi-lifetime at Norm's already having played many Holy Grail guitars you create the ULTIMATE guitar HEAVEN! The vault was the best. Hope you and the family are well and enjoying Dad's new life in Nashville. You did good!

I am English, living in England. I ordered a GLP Custom Left Handed ‘57 Reissue Black Beauty with Triple Hums and a Bixby. I ordered it in October 2020. I’m still waiting for it and the latest delivery update from the London based Gibson rep is end of May 2022!

Great video, I love it. I'm loving what Gibson is doing. Fantastic Experience, this is incredible. My only pet peeve is, that isn't country music. It's a guy singing over a hiphop backing track.
