The LeFay D-Tuner is both priceless per his experience and due to the fact that that they have updated the designs and model names a bit since the early-mid 2010s through about 2016. You can still get one that looks and functions nearly identical, but you'll need to dedicate your life to your art if you want to attain the sort of mastery that Charles has over it.
As for the video, while they're all masterfully played, I think the Glarry J-Bass definitely stands out. Playing like that, you could probably go out busking and make more than $85 for an upgrade to something that doesn't have pickups made from an alnico infused potato, like a Yamaha RBX170 at around $200. I could see the physical exertion put into trying to extract tone. It would be cool to see an eventual longer reshoot with more representation in the sub-$1000 (MSRP), yet greater than a potato that category. Just the fact that there is a bass that retails that low is incredible (and I'm sure 'for the price' it's a steal), but somewhere in the middle is some great, and even iconic options from the likes of Music Man, Ibanez, Yamaha, and Schecter.
As for those $1359 MSRP Schecters, most can be had for about a grand retail, and if that is within your budget, they're a fine instrument irrespective of price. I saw the 8-string a couple of major stores for $949, and now I feel obligated to buy one.

The "priceless" ones are both LeFay Herr Schwarz D-tuners I believe. Basic 4-string model starts shy of $4000, but they don't do the D-tuners anymore and that mod itself could cost you upwards of a grand on top. That and the big block pickups are well over $500, custom wood finish over $600, block inlays around $700, and that's just the optional extras I can spot. All in all you'll probably have a tough time getting these models for under $6000. Hence the title including $6500 bass without the price actually being in the video, because sentimental value and the wear of countless hours of playing by none other than Charles himself is indeed priceless.

    Those stilettos are great.
I'd say for most basses the sweetspot is around the 1000/1500 range in sound vs price.
But I have to say I was impressed by the sound of the 85$ bass. It lacked a bit of the high-end for slapping but I think it'll hold up fine in a rockband.

It's how you use a tool rather than the tool itself that lies behind success. Congrats & thanks for posting!

i can see why u like the Left D~turner.....u could drive a car thru the string spacing.....which is excellent for the solo bass style used... i'm a fan Charles much respect for ur skills

Lotsa Schecters....I own a Schecter Stiletto Studio 5. Not a bad bass, but not my fave either. Just thought it was neat seeing the 6 string version of one of my basses in a video. And I used to own a Sterling. Breaks my heart that I lost that bass. Like yours, it was a real Sterling, not one of the cheap "by Music Man" Sterlings.

From a Glarry to a Schecter? Quite a jump for a first step! But I almost cried when I saw the value of the Music Man.. About 3 years ago I saw one at a yard sale for $400 and because I didn't recognize the brand (nor did I have 400 on me) I let it slide!

You need a Daphne Blue bass, the sound quality will blow your mind! Fascinating video...I'd like to see more comparisons at different price points, good stuff!

Hi. Hard to say without playing more systematically same thing, crude, on each one. I will try again with headphones and in the car (my private bass station)
However, you are playing all tapping and a nice music with kind of ongoing crescendo that makes an evaluation very hard. And, your tapping technique is amazing (I guess you know) from 85 to priceless
I’m very impressed that tapping after long jumps is indistinguishable from tapping on near keys. Really crazy

That's a nice rasher of Schecter basses you have there. I think they are one of the best bang for the buck basses going. I love my C5 Diamond 5 String.
