Which bass is your favourite? 👇🏻
The music man definitely! Always wanted one.
Edit: nice TAPP arpeggios there..
Acoustic bass in underrated in my opinion
BITE Custom Bass
The fretless
The one that is a basd
This is amazing, bro! So glad I finally got the Schecter bass (they sent a 5-string :p) and very happy you were able to keep yours
Hi, I have a bass channel too, do you want to check out that one too? Little bassist😁🤟
Yeah kind of a win-win right?!
@@CharlesBerthoud totally 😂
Hey Charles, your a very cool bassist RUclipsr, today i made a video of a song i played together with a video of you, i hope you will like it! ruclips.net/video/IHrzVsJzJcw/видео.html pls reply and tap like😉
Who are these people sending basses everywhere?
02:14
Just wow, amazing. So nice man!
could to a one our leap of that!
Now I want another 8-strings bass solo
bass ukulele lol
Ngl a little jealous of that 8 string xD. I love that sound
is this available on spotify?? if yes, what's the song's name?
Anything sounds nice in your hands!
I was thinking that, even the $85 one sounded good
Hey what is that song at about 3:00 with the fretless guitar
For whatever reason, I associate LeFay basses with Charles. I love that they were the "priceless" ones.
@Barry Lab - From 4500 US
They are literally some of the best basses you can play, I would pit them up there with fodera. But as with anything if amazing quality the price is heavy
They cost close to 5000 dollars
Did you really go from 80$ to 999$ like there was nothing in between lol.
And for me those 80 dollars are still quite a lot
@@azas118 with 999 you could almost thirteen 80$ basses
Completely agree. I was suprised too. I thought there had to be a couple more basses in there before you reach the 1k mark.
@Mailroom Clerk I mean those LeFay basses are pretty much priceless for him
@xDominoDoodx neither have I, I was hoping to see some good ones.
Guys, I think Charles likes Schecter basses
Schecter basses are great, I own a Stiletto Stage 5 and it's awesome.
I think Schecter basses like Charles... *wink*
@@M2Mil7er And schecter plays Charles.
@@freakblow schecter basses and guitars are just phenomenally good.
Waited all the time for...: **This video is sponsored by Schecter*...^^*
That 8 string sounded awesome. And man I just wanna say, I know a huge number of us came from Davie but I think it's hardly up for debate. I think you're a much better musician. Don't get me wrong I like Davie and he is very good but I see him more as a youtube personality and you more as a musician. And honestly since subbing to you I've actually enjoyed your content a lot more. Keep doing what your doing
There's a bass battle of Davie and Nathan Navarro and Davie got absolutely smoked. I hate to say it, but I almost feel like he's overrated
I have to agree.
Well.. As we can see, in the hands of a pro, any instrument can sound awesome. xD
Well...the cheapest Schecter sounded horrible. The 80 buck one sounded way better than that one.
Send me the $6500 bass, and I’ll make it sound like an $8 bass.
And I thought that I had cornered the market in making great instruments sound bad!
Did you really think you are better than me at being the worst?
@@gemyellow sounds like a bass battle is required. 🙂
I dont know why but i read as Davie504’s voice
No
Halfway through the video, I realized that Charles wasn’t just playing each bass - he was adding the new bass over the last bass he was playing. That must have taken a lot of work! Bravo! 🤯
Whilst this whole arrangement is amazing 2min 15 secs onwards is one of the best arrangements I’ve ever heard….i can’t stop listening to it….and that fretless sound is simply divine! Amazing work!
"Value: Priceless"
You can't put a price on something you truly love
True
True
I thought you only commented on anime related vids
What if he strummed his fiance
yeah
I noticed the massive quality jump after the first bass and was like, damn, good value. But uh... The price jump was surprising also.
The LeFay D-Tuner is both priceless per his experience and due to the fact that that they have updated the designs and model names a bit since the early-mid 2010s through about 2016. You can still get one that looks and functions nearly identical, but you'll need to dedicate your life to your art if you want to attain the sort of mastery that Charles has over it.
As for the video, while they're all masterfully played, I think the Glarry J-Bass definitely stands out. Playing like that, you could probably go out busking and make more than $85 for an upgrade to something that doesn't have pickups made from an alnico infused potato, like a Yamaha RBX170 at around $200. I could see the physical exertion put into trying to extract tone. It would be cool to see an eventual longer reshoot with more representation in the sub-$1000 (MSRP), yet greater than a potato that category. Just the fact that there is a bass that retails that low is incredible (and I'm sure 'for the price' it's a steal), but somewhere in the middle is some great, and even iconic options from the likes of Music Man, Ibanez, Yamaha, and Schecter.
As for those $1359 MSRP Schecters, most can be had for about a grand retail, and if that is within your budget, they're a fine instrument irrespective of price. I saw the 8-string a couple of major stores for $949, and now I feel obligated to buy one.
Yes mate
I am sure Charles can make any Bass sound technical! Amazing work, and hope all is well!
So when is that La Fey signature model coming out? 😂
Now I understand why the last bass has been my favorite of all your basses since I discovered you on RUclips. Not only does it look stellar, the tone is so beautiful... combined with the hipshot style tuners and how you incorporate them into your songs..... EPIC!
This vid is actually one of your best yet in terms of just playing the bass lol
02:13 that strummed section, and the arpeggios 🤯🤯🤯🤯
With your love for Schecters and LeFay it astounds me that you do not have a 004 or Stargazer! I love my 004! Model T was my favorite, reminds me of Dusty Hill's Telecaster bass.😎👍
Dusty hill is a god
Shout out from Rio, Brazil. Amazing song. Stoked to learn you have albums on Spotify. Checking them out right now.
I've watched this 563 times...lol so beautiful and am still watching...
Awesome video and congrats on the album!
We need more of the 8string!
The musician that most inspires me is Charles, he got me into tapping, i just love his music

Wow they do sound different but you bring them to totally another level! Priceless instruments met their priceless professional player
I think that the photo behind you shoud be updated
It takes a few years for the basses to earn their portrait...
Dude that Schecter SLS Elite-5 looks and sounds so amazing. Need to get me one of those! I run a Spector NS Legend on my youtube channel
I think that might be been the longest Charles intro I've seen yet
I am not a bass player but I am really enjoying you playing the bass.
It is just beautiful!
Thank you for uploading this video.
wont lie, i have never considered an album from a youtuber before until now. im gonna go give it a listen later on for sure.
Just listened to it, if you watch all his videos, you’ll recognize a lot of the songs. Good stuff.
It is awesome seeing all of the Schecter basses getting love on your channel. I love my C5 Apocalypse.
Is there a way to make it so the sounds of your bass come out with a delay? I love trying to play even simple songs on keyboards with a 0.5-1 second delay to mess with my head. If so I challenge you!
Yes, they have bass delay pedals. One of those with an Octaver or Envelope Filter and a fretless is a hoot to play with! You can get really good synth bass tone like that.
I always like hearing the different tambers in videos like these. it's crazy how much different the tone can be from bass to bass
That fretless hit different.
Mom?!
That Schecter Stiletto Studio-8 is bloody majestic!!!
LeFay needs to hook you up with a signature model ASAP.
Sadly LeFay stopped making d-tuners a while back, and dropped all references to it with their site redesign apparently. Plus the d-tuner was already a signature bass for Grant Stinner.
That LeFay D Tuner you often play on the channel is beautiful.
I’m gonna have to send LeFay a message about you not being a sponsored artist for them... they must know about you!?
I own a LeFay Herr Schwarz 4 from 2006... It‘s a maestrous piece of art and I love the sound!
It's not actually the bass its about the skill of the player.
the Stilleto studio 8 and Muckelroy were so impressive. I want to ear more of that 8 string Schecter ^^
It’s doesn’t matter how much a bass cost any good player can make any bass sound good
I discovered you on RUclips several months back.
I am a massage therapist working mostly at a chiropractor‘s office and I play your stuff on Spotify as my background music much of the time!
Since I love the cheapest basses, I'll go with the red LeFay 😂
Been a big fan of your play too, cheapest bass guy!
Awesome playing. Will check out your albums on Spotify.
Even the cheap bass sounds acceptable, but how does playing on it feel?
I got the same one it's nice I have never played any other bass so I imagine they probably feel better but I have had mine for about a year now and it's still going strong.
It's top tier for the price. Of course, it's not perfect, but it's perfect for beginners.
Been listening to the new album entire day now and planning to do the same tomorrow.. Thanks for the music man.
It doesn’t matter what’s under the hood, the only thing that matters is who’s behind the wheel. (Dominic Toretto)
Same comment I left on Davie’s channel when he made a video like this.
i love the 2nd to the last bass, but still i believe its not the bass instrument but the wilder of it make it sounds priceless for me. good job sir

I really like how the Schecter SLS Elite-5 sounds!
I didn't know you could play bass
yeah me neither
Same you know. Had no idea.
Don't think thats a real comparison that felt more like a beautiful tribute to his favorite basses?
Whatever it is I absolutely love it!!
I loved the music, but I have to be honest - it was difficult to compare the instruments when you used a different playing technique on each one and made it into an arrangement.
Scientifically inaccurate, perhaps, but definitely beautiful to listen to.
Unbelievably brilliant bass skills and musical creativity!! Thanks for posting.
... that's the difference between you and davie504. You're a musician and Davie504 is a bass entertainer. Great music. We don't need to talk about your technique ... unbelievable.
I think that black Le Fay is the one you use the most.
Priceless guitar for priceless fingers
504 like lol
My mouth was opening in amazement throughout the video. I got conscious after 2:14 because my mouth was wide open😂. Amazing solo. It made me feel ecstatic. I hope I can get close to this level
Pro, I challenge you to pin this comment
Whoa, all of theses basses sounded amazing, but what made it awesome was your playing!
Yea once you started playing..
The comparison is not even on my mind anymore.
This guy is that good a performer and a musician.
I enjoyed it very much. Thannk you
Your playing skill releases the sonic essence of all these basses.
Glad to see that someone is a fan of Schecter! Great company!!!
The Stiletto Studio 8 has a sound not often heard out of a bass - I could see a duo using this to fill in for a third musician in a way. The SLS Elite 5 has a great B-string tone. The most valuable (priceless) is the one I most associate Charles with - it's kind of his signature bass in a way.
All of those basses sounded amazing... but holy crap that eight string gave me chills! I want it so bad now!!!
You are the man, Charles. I really liked the look and sound if that fretless.
Fuck, it's impossible to me to choose one. They are all different and you make all of them fir in the music, with different style of playing and emotions put in them... That's just priceless and breathtaking
Cool! Schecter Model T Session and Schecter Stieltto Fan Fret are my favorits.
Yes, that Le Fay D Tuner is definitely the best bass, by far. The sound quality shows through. That Black Le Fay is awesome!
All the basses sounded great. What matters most is the person playing it. Charles is the man.
Schecters all have incredible sound. Pretty funny going straight from the first to a Schecter. Kind of like going from a toy glider to a jet, not even going to bother with a Cessna.
The solo sounded so beautiful on the Scheter Model T session. Charles is really good.
Funny, the bassist in my band has used a bass that was under $120 for the last decade. It just works really well for our style of music (doom metal). He owns a Schecter SLS Elite-5 (almost identical to the one you play here), but it doesn't have that low, low "buzz" that we need. Cool video!
That schecter studio 8 is insane, how have i never seen anything like that before
Great vid as usual. Just picked up the new album on iTunes. Looking forward to checking it out!
Very fun video, thank you Charles Bxxrthood
that bite bass both looks and sounds amazing
My favourite bassist is Charles birthhound just for playing that peice towards the end it touches deep into my soul and take me to lost loves ones
Love the growl in the BITE custom bass
I still have my mouth open since that mesmerising moment at 2:14
The "priceless" ones are both LeFay Herr Schwarz D-tuners I believe. Basic 4-string model starts shy of $4000, but they don't do the D-tuners anymore and that mod itself could cost you upwards of a grand on top. That and the big block pickups are well over $500, custom wood finish over $600, block inlays around $700, and that's just the optional extras I can spot. All in all you'll probably have a tough time getting these models for under $6000. Hence the title including $6500 bass without the price actually being in the video, because sentimental value and the wear of countless hours of playing by none other than Charles himself is indeed priceless.
Those stilettos are great.
I'd say for most basses the sweetspot is around the 1000/1500 range in sound vs price.
But I have to say I was impressed by the sound of the 85$ bass. It lacked a bit of the high-end for slapping but I think it'll hold up fine in a rockband.
It's how you use a tool rather than the tool itself that lies behind success. Congrats & thanks for posting!
i can see why u like the Left D~turner.....u could drive a car thru the string spacing.....which is excellent for the solo bass style used... i'm a fan Charles much respect for ur skills
I really enjoyed the fact that Lefay basses are priceless
Lotsa Schecters....I own a Schecter Stiletto Studio 5. Not a bad bass, but not my fave either. Just thought it was neat seeing the 6 string version of one of my basses in a video. And I used to own a Sterling. Breaks my heart that I lost that bass. Like yours, it was a real Sterling, not one of the cheap "by Music Man" Sterlings.
From a Glarry to a Schecter? Quite a jump for a first step! But I almost cried when I saw the value of the Music Man.. About 3 years ago I saw one at a yard sale for $400 and because I didn't recognize the brand (nor did I have 400 on me) I let it slide!
¡You are amazing! I am a beginner bassist who have been playing for 4 years and hope one day can be near the super high level you are.
You need a Daphne Blue bass, the sound quality will blow your mind! Fascinating video...I'd like to see more comparisons at different price points, good stuff!
2:15- till the end, OMG, I love IT :) You're the best Bro
the Scheter Model T Session sounds great!!!!
How glad that I found you. Nice work!
I really like that Schecter Model T. It had really nice tone.
Hi. Hard to say without playing more systematically same thing, crude, on each one. I will try again with headphones and in the car (my private bass station)
However, you are playing all tapping and a nice music with kind of ongoing crescendo that makes an evaluation very hard. And, your tapping technique is amazing (I guess you know) from 85 to priceless
I’m very impressed that tapping after long jumps is indistinguishable from tapping on near keys. Really crazy
That's a nice rasher of Schecter basses you have there. I think they are one of the best bang for the buck basses going. I love my C5 Diamond 5 String.
I like that Schecter model t. Not my favorite but i like the look and sound. That Schecter Elite is really nice too
