I preordered the vinyl, just got it a few days ago and it's great. I think they were over-hyped going into this release so some people will be a bit let down, but I'm enjoying it.
Spiritbox is literally the best. Maybe most amazing is Mike Stringer writes and records ALL THE INSTRUMENTS. ALWAYS HAS. He programs all the drums and always has. Zev did come along and contribute some fill stuff but Mike is a goddamn prodigy.
Zev, just like Ryan and Michael (ex-IWABO drummer) before him, contibuted on a consulting level, but yep, Mike is the man behind the instrumentation. Watching him grow from simply being a musician in his first band Fall In Archaea all the way to being a composer now… brilliant.

FYI, Mike actualy writes all the instruments, including drums. He then sends it to Zev to record on an electric kit. Zev also adds some stuff on the songs, but the main drum line is written by Mike! Also, Zev is only 20 years old!
I’m in love with Spiritbox. Eternal Blue and the new Sleep Token album are the only thing I’ve heard this past two weeks. I seriously cannot get enough of it. As there won’t be any singles in the near future, maybe you should check out The Summit, which is my favorite non-single from the album.
I don’t know Evanescence so I cannot confirm that, hahahaha, but I can totally hear some more experimentation on that song, something a bit different from the others, and that’s why I love it.

This whole album is 10/10. One of my favorite this year. The problem is there are WAYYY too many good albums that have come out so I can't pin it as my AOTY no matter what. Between the Buried and Me takes that spot with Colors 2.
The greatest debut album I heard in a long time is called "Eternal Blue" this band has a lot to show in modern metal, waiting for this be a new definition of "mainstream", happy for this new sound there, and like always, I love learn with you, songs I love so much, thank you 🙌
Discovered this band earlier this year and have just been obsessed. Fantastic band and I'm glad they are finally getting the recognition they earned and deserve.
Honestly my favorite lyric in this song will always be that opening scream, "We are failing in crisis mode, mutually assured destruction" and right after the bridge "I have learned to love the embrace in this mutually assured destruction". Also if you ever can't understand what the lyrics are, every song they put out, the full lyrics are in the description (makes me love Spiritbox as a band even more tbh, not many bands put the lyrics out with every song). Been listening to the album non stop, just can never get enough.

These drums are actually programmed by Mike the guitar player. Mike records guitar and bass and writes the drums and then Zev adjusts a cpl things. So mike basically writes all the music. He records bass and guitar so that they blend as well as possible.
Hell yeah. The new Spiritbox album is definitely my album of the year. My favorite song off of it is Silk in the Strings, but I love every single song on it. Recommendation: And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope - Ne Obliviscaris

ever since being introduced to Spiritbox with their single Holy Roller, i been HOOKED on Spiritbox, instant fan! her cleans are Angelic and her screams are Demonic, total night and day between them.
Zev is such an amazing drummer! Mike, the guitarist, used to write all the drum parts but now that Zev joined it’s a collaborated effort! also, Zev joined the band over a year ago at the age of 19!! he’ll be turning 21 next month. the rest of the band are in their 30s. he’s also the only one who doesn’t live in canada and due to the pandemic he tracked all of the drums for their new album from his home while on video calls.
Eternal Blue is one of the best Albums i've heard in a long time. This Song is basically about making the decision to stay on a sinking ship. You know its gonna sink and kill you, but you stay on there because you have this toxic Dependance.
Spiritbox's new album just came out and they have a song featuring Sam Carter from Architects. Song is called Yellowjacket and its the best of both bands coming together
Don't have any answers but Courtney seems to be interested in the hurting, suffering and how that can be a pleasurable experience, for someone at least. I would urge you to check out what I believe is the first song they put out, The Beauty of Suffering. There's a studio version online and a live Courtney one take vocal. It's MY favourite track of theirs and the live vocal performance is just.....it brings a tear to the eye, every time.
eternal blue is such an incredible album, it'd be cool to see you react to silk in the strings or halcyon from it (two of the heavier ones aside from holy roller). they're touring with every time i die and underoath soon and i'm so gutted it's in the usa so i can't get there. with that in mind, i am here once again to request a teeny reaction to every time i die. since i last asked for post boredom, they've dropped another song called planet shit. both pretty different in terms of tempo, theme etc but they're amazing. etid are my favourites and i'd love to hear what david thinks of them

If the lyrics are hard to understand first listen I usually put the closed captions on first time thru a song. Helps learn the worlds even tho they’re using unclean vocals or something hard to understand like lows
I love what you say about drummers making the band. I'd highly suggest Arctic Monkeys please, a British band! That statement might as well describe them (not forgetting the leader singer and lyrical composition). Any songs from their debut album 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not (2006)' or the second release 'Favourite Worst Nightmare (2007)'
If you like drummers... Sleep Token... Vessel 2 is beastmode... Vessel 1 is pretty good at what he does too (major understatement)... But to repeat others - Spiritbox, Sleep Token, Thrice and Eidola in a 2 week span has been serious sonic candy.
