- I feel like there should be a drumroll...
This is the LAST episode of the Spur Cabin building series! Eleven months have gone by since I started this build, and it all comes to a conclusion in this episode.
In this video, I'll FINALLY paint the door, stain the deck, and I'll also install a solar light on the outside. But that's not all! I'll take you for a quick stroll down memory lane, highlighting a scene or two from every month of the build. You won't want to miss a second!
Thank you to everyone who has made this adventure possible. By everyone, I mean YOU, the viewer. Without you, this channel would not exist. So thank you again, for bringing all of this to life. I appreciate you watching @LifeontheMoose. Come back next week for a brand new build.

I think I have said it before...I am 73 female...and you inspired me to build me a little garden office. My son picked up the door I built out of 2 antique windows ,,that is about all the help I have had. it is coming along. You inspired me to do this.....PLEASE NO SQUARES OR LEVELS ARE ALLOWED ON PREMISES. lov from south alabama.
That really touches me. You’re awesome!🙏🙏
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just realized I have spent almost an entire year watching some random guy build a dry cabin half way around the world from me. NOT EVEN A BATHROOM!!!!
Worth every minute. great job Pat.
That means a lot! Half a globe or not, I really appreciate it.
I’ve been watching since I had my stroke in November. You’ve inspired me to get healthy and build my own cabin by myself. and I am fully on my way. Thank you.
Wow what an honor. I’m deeply humbled, and couldn’t be happier that you’re on your way. Let me know how it goes. 🙏
The old and new video interlaced rather than just all 'before' and all 'after' separated....was really smart and well done. Love it!
Wow thank you so much! 🙏
My favorite was when you built the floor and flipped it so the underside would be sealed. That was cool. Thanks for taking me along for this build. I’ve told you before, you are one of my top five favorites. Thank you again. See you next week.
Aw thanks so much! I’ll take top 5! 🙏
Would have been higher if you had a couple young hot girls in shorts actually helping but then your channel would be like too many of the rest. It is fun to watch you build without distractions. Thanks for taking all of us on the trip.
@@richardgabel33 I don't think Mrs. Patrick would have appreciated it if the channel was like that! 🤣🤣🤣
Hi, Patrick! 11 months? It seems to me so quick, and here we are... 11 months together enjoying each minute of cutting, painting, sanding, etc... This makes many of us a close friend of you, working together (at least in mind, but certainly for many of us with the wish of really be there giving you a hand, or both hands 😁). I can't wait to see the next adventure at Life on the Moose.
Thanks for continue bringing us these wonderful moments.
See you soon, my friend!!
Keep safe! Hugs from this Brazilian friend. ☺
Btw, just to let you know, we, here in my house, paused the video to grab a cup of coffee to toast the end of this project with you... it was fun! 😉 So, Cheers!!
Hey that’s so awesome. Thanks for that toast! And thanks for being a part of this ride. 🙏
Can't believe 11 months of anticipating your Friday Videos have flown by. Have enjoyed each of them as well as learned something, most intriguing is the subfloor/ insulation and admittedly have watched it a few times, it's such a simple concept you'd think everyone would do it that way. Can't wait for the next project. See you next week! 👍🙂
I appreciate that! 🙏
I'm not a builder. I was really impressed on how you built the foundation. built it upside down filled it with insulation, and installed the flooring. I like the whole cabin. Great job.
Thank you! Appreciate you being here.
Patrick, what a wonderful cabin to enjoy the rest of your life. Congratulations and thank you for taking us along.
My pleasure! Glad you were here for it. 🙏
Congratulations on the completion of your cabin!
We are looking forward to following along and upcoming projects.
It is difficult to choose just one favorite video from this build, but when you installed the roof by yourself, it kept us on the edge of our seats.
Keep the videos and humor coming we love it.
Awesome. Thank you!
Great series
I may never build a cabin, but still loved the series…
Favorite episode: Ridge beam installation…
Thank you so much! 🙏
Thank you Patrick for an awesome journey throughout this cabin build. Me and the missus look forward to your next project.
Thanks to both of you! 🙏
I always love the roof framing videos. They're a whole system unto themselves. I like them because it means 'dried in'. You get to work inside out of the weather. I loved the whole series!
Thank you! I was ready to move indoors, as well! 🙏
Nice job Patrick…enjoyed every week!
I’ll stay tuned! Congratulations!!!
Thanks!! 🙏
And what a thoroughly enjoyable 11 months it was, thank you Patrick.
🙏🙏
I’ve enjoyed every moment of your build! The cabin is fabulous! I’m looking forward to whatever you have coming next… 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I appreciate that! 🙏
Every video I watched of this makes me dream of doing this. Thank you for sharing this with us. You are Awesome!
Mission accomplished! Thank you. 🙏
Hello from Midway,Texas, it’s a bad day in America 🇺🇸, hope your and your family are doing well…. Patrick you have always left me a little message and I don’t know how you answered all of them, I do understand if you don’t, I’m just real sad what has happened to someone I believe in that can fix a lot of problems for America 🇺🇸 🇮🇱…. But I sure hope you’re doing good, I’ve been watching your videos every week and really enjoy them… it helped me yesterday for sure…. God Bless you Patrick…..
Thank you! It may take awhile, but I’m still trying to respond when I can. Hang in there, I appreciate you being here.🙏
I know you’re so proud of this build! It looks so inviting and warm. I can’t wait to see how you two dress up the inside. Great job!
I really appreciate that! 🙏
I REALLY ENJOYED WATCHING YOU ENJOY THE BUILD; I DARE SAY YOU DIDNT WORK ON IT A SINGLE DAY! I CAN SEE THAT WHEN YOU LOVE DOING ANYTHING, IT IS NEVER "WORK"!
SO true. 🙏
Thanks so much, Patrick. This series was therapeutic. My hobby is (was) dismantling historic houses and barns (pre 1850) but since I am older now and not as mobile, I have had to slow down and your series brought back such great memories. Thanks again.
I’m honored to be a part of that therapy! 🙏
My favorite part of all this build was the "fencing", of the mezzanine railing, with the curved limbs. 💖💖💖💖🙏
🙏🙏😊
The cabin is beautiful !!! I love the colors of this cabin !!! You did a great job !!!
Thank you so much! 🙏
Boy, time goes by fast when you’re having fun!!! What a pleasure it has been following your journey!!! Now on to the outdoor kitchen!!!
Indeed! I appreciate that. 🙏
Thank you for taking us along on the journey! Watching you sitting there admiring your success I could feel the crispness of the spring mountain air, imagined the quiet breezes, the birds singing and the smell of the budding pine trees. I feel so blessed to have discovered your channel.
Aw thanks so much. You nailed it! Accurate description. I’m blessed that you’re watching. 🙏
Congratulations on the completion of your project. It looks absolutely awesome. Thank you so much for bringing us along with you on your journey. As far as my favorite video is concerned, that's easy 'All of Them'. Well done Patrick now it's time to enjoy the fruits of your labor with Karen. Enjoy.
Aw thank you! 🙏
I have been watching you build this cabin from the first day. What a Gem you have made.
Hey thank you! I really appreciate that.
My husband said to tell you he loves the contrast with the door it looks great. 100% better although it was already awesome. Thanks for taking us on the journey with you.
You’re welcome! Please tell your husband I appreciate that. I like it, too!
I could only dream of having a property and cabin like this. I'd just want to sit out there, listening to some music, taking in all the views. Thank you for sharing this build with us. It's a great to be able to sit on my couch and not break a sweat but still feel the satisfaction of completing a project. Thanks again for a weekly show. You have a great channel! I'd argue that your not done yet. I'd like to see some river rock spread around the outside of that cabin to keep the roof runoff from splashing all over the side of the cabin. ;-)
Hey that means so much. Thank you! Glad you’re here. Right, on that rock. I believe we’ll get some gravel for the immediate area. 🙏
Congrats on a fantastic job. Can't wait for the next project. Where's the finale feast for your neighbors? Apples carrots bird seed?
Good idea!
Hi Patrick, good choice on door colour. That coffee bean colour complements the cabin really well, so does the porch. All in all, a very nice, well-built cabin that should stand the test of Time and still be there for your Children's children in the Future. Give yourself a pat on the back... but do be careful NOT to break an arm doing it. lol. Greetings from Perth, West Australia. Cheers, Frank.
My shoulder is still a bit sore from the painting, but I’ll pat it asap. Thank you, Frank from Perth!
I've enjoyed watching the build from the start. I appreciate the explainations along the way of how and why. Can't wait to see the next adventure you let us share with you!
Thank you! That means a lot. 🙏
My favorite video was you cutting the downed tree, hauling it with the tractor to your saw mill and creating usable wood for this build.
A very rewarding video, for sure. Thanks! 🙏
Patrick I started the cabin with you and have thoroughly enjoyed every episode . I have never made a comment or offered advice because first you appeared to know what you wanted and how you wanted the cabin second you were not building it for me even if you were I would leave it exactly as you built it . Along the way I learned a few tricks which I thank you for. I will return next week to see what is happening on the MOOSE !!!
I can't tell you how much i enjoy watching you. It brings back such wonderful memories of building our tiny house. You made a beautiful house now I can't wait to see Karen make it into a Home. I'm excited for the outdoor kitchen, and can't wait for future projects. I think back on winter and worried about you in the cold and falling off the roof...and the wildfire smoke from up North that you worked thru, but the most relaxing video was installing insulation video..lol...I'm funny that I'd rather put up insulation and sand or Plaine than anything. Great Job and Can't Wait for the next steps.
My favorite video was the one with the pun!😐
Gosh I appreciate that! 🙏
Thanks so much. 🙏
String trimming around the cabin just like our fore fathers did out on the frontier. Nice that you had the perfect wind to take the dust away.
Ha indeed!
I like how you wove the past into the present. Great cabin build Patrick
Thanks!!
I don't have a favorite I liked them all. Thank you
Aw thank you!🙏
Its been a enjoyable journey watching you build this cabin. Some of my favorite episodes were the floor, the siding, and the natural railing woodwork. Looking forward to seeing the design and layout of the outdoor kitchen. Thank you for sharing with us all this journey.
The pleasure was mine. Thank you for watching! 🙏
Can’t wait to move in! 😂😂😂
I shoulda made this place bigger! 😅🤣
Having been here from the beginning of this project, I must say this was a great finale.
Fantastic job!
Glad you liked it. Thank you!🙏
Patrick
They were all great videos, thank you
Thank YOU!
I learned something from every episode. Thank you so much for inspiring us all! I am looking forward to your other projects :)
That means a lot to me. 🙏
came across this series on your insulating the floor video when I was looking up how to build a shed floor. Honestly, got drawn in by the beautiful scenery, but ended up watching all the videos. Got a ton of inspiration and tips from you. Kudos on this great accomplishment. Looking forward to your future projects. Man, what a view you have out there!!
Oh cool! Glad you stopped by and stayed! 🙏
Instead of my normal “Is it Friday already” statement, I thought I would change it up to what Paul Harvey used to say; “It’s Friday”! Great and fun video as usual. I’ve had a wonderful time following this project. Thanks for sharing over the months!
Hey thank YOU for being here!
Good old PH… 🙏
Congratulations Patrick! Well done. It’s been a lot of fun to watch you build this over the last 10 or so months.
🙏
Patrick: My favorite episode was July 2023 when you built the floor. You started it upside down, flipped it over, insulated it then closed it up with the flooring. You had me confused till you flipped the floor over and I then realized why you did it that way. So you could insulate from above and close it in do no critters could get to the insulation. My other favorite was your choice 22:08 of acoustic guitar music throughout the build. Thank you got your build. I am inspired to do something now. Till we meet again…Slainte’ Patrick me boyo! ☘️😎
Thank you! Glad you ran across this channel and even happier you stuck around. 🙏
@@LifeontheMoose it has been a glorious 11 month journey. Looking forward to the next project!! Thank you!
Patrick, all the videos are great. Cant wait to see you in the coming year building a new house. God bless.
Thank you! 🙏
Heb er steeds van genoten👍, bedankt en geniet er nog van , ook van de prachtige omgeving 🥰. Groeten vanuit het verre en kleine België 🇧🇪. Zoals ze in Amerika zeggen God bless you.
God bless you, Belgium! 🙏
Nice door color. It makes sense! All the episodes go together but if I had to pick some (it is a tough choice) I liked the upstairs railings, the removable ladder, and pieces from the old house.
Thank you for being here. I’m glad it was a tough choice! 🙏
I’ve so enjoyed watching you build a cabin. At 75 I’m not taking on any major projects, but I so enjoy watching others build a little cabins and a bigger cabins. But I did buy me a turtle sewing machine last week. But somebody had set some stuff on the top so I’m gonna try to refinish the top of it With the wood. Everything else looks beautiful. I found a place to buy new part so I will beginning a new belt for for sure. And I just wanted it so bad because I remember sewing with my grandmother at somewhere between five and six years old as she overlooked making sure I didn’t put the needle through my finger. I never was really into sewing, but I wanted that Sewing Machine really bad after she passed away, but my parents gave away her sewing machine because I guess they wanted out the garage and didn’t know I wanted it. So this is as close to match that I can findand I’m going to enjoy it when I get it finished and it will be in the house. At this time it’s in the garage but in a particular room is air-conditioned so it doesn’t get beat up so thank you again for sharing your cabin and I’ll be watching more as you post them.
Aw thank you so much! I appreciate your sewing machine story. Great memories about to come to life. 🙏
Thanks for the hours of entertainment....i look forward to working on your next project with you from here with my two cats.
Your welcome. 🙏 Hi two cats!
I love the cabin. You did a great job and the quality of your work is impressive. Thanks for sharing your time with us.
I look forward to your next videos.
Michael
Thank you so much, Michael!
I enjoyed every step of the build, and the reuse of salvaged lumber was cool!
Thank you!
Build well done. Enjoyed every step. I learned a lot. Especially how to calm my wife by learning your phrases "it'll be just fine!!!!" & "It's gonna look great!!!"
I'd come with tools to help on the next job just to hang out and get r done.
Ha I appreciate that! I never meant to be a “how to calm your wife” channel!
You are an inspiration to all of us!
Wow I appreciate that!
Patrick, you're such a kick in the pants! Pop a cork on the bubbly, kick back, and reflect on the accomplishment. Your journey on this build has been very entertaining and a little bit scary from time to time, considering the possibility of you falling and breaking your neck! (But, then again... if you fell and had broken your neck, the episode wouldn't have ever been published. So, there is that.)
Also, I have noticed how precise your measurements and cuts are, so I would like to ask... are there many bloopers of cuts and flubbled tasks? If so, you should consider making a "blooper" video.
I don’t have a tremendous amount of oops video. And what I do have probably includes colorful verbiage not allowed on RUclips! Appreciate you asking, and being here! 🙏
I felt really inspired by this whole series. Everything was broken down into really manageable pieces and projects, and gave a realistic idea of how long a project of this magnitude would take. I'm hoping to build a cabin in the near future, and one thing that I have always felt intimidated by is electrical, so I found that video to be particularly empowering. Every episode I watched had me saying: "I can do this." Great job, and thank you for letting us follow along on this journey.
Oh that’s awesome! Glad I can help in some fashion. Thanks for sticking around!🙏
I look forward for this nugget of common sense and truth every week. Its a nice break from the crazy that is the world these days. The cabin looks great! GREAT JOB! buddy!!!!!!
Hey that means a lot to me. Thank you!🙏
Congratulations, wonderful job. Best feeling in the world when accomplishments are made.
Thank you, and indeed! 🙏
Like most you are a Friday ritual. Love the whole build! Hard to pick one video since I learned a lot. The metal trim around bottom and siding were something I’m using when I build a shed
Awesome. 🙏
Wow, almost a year of watching the cabin build, seems like yesterday you were just starting the road to the cabin! Well, good job! The video that inspired me the most was the one with all that sanding. LOL, just kidding, just kidding!😂 I really enjoyed the subfloor building and the wood mill videos. I actually drank an adult beverage with you when you celebrated, it wasn’t champagne, but the type you used the corks as door handle. Can’t wait for the complete reveal video. Cheers!
Thanks you! Cheers!!
I love it! Thank you for taking us on your ride. It’s been fun! I wish you would come to my place and build me a cabin😊
I wish I could! Thank you for taking the ride.
Purdy brush is a strong indicator of knowing what's up with painting. I've got some from the 90s that have been ridden hard and still work great.
Ha you noticed! I learned a long time ago that the only thing worse than cheap paint is a cheap brush. Neither are worth it!
Excellent. Now the outhouse and outdoor kitchen.
Thanks!
No favorite video, I learned something valuable from every one, and enjoyed each very much
Wow thank you!🙏
Many things you have done but maybe the most item I liked was doing the siding and windows. Over all you have done a great job.
Thank you!
I’m a year into my first solo build and you definitely helped inspire me! I’m milling all of my own lumber and I’ve never seen a mill until I bought one.
Thanks to life in the moose for helping inspire me! I was also inspired by the channel Surviving Ringworm.
What an honor to be any part of that inspiration. Thank you! Congrats on diving in.🙏
Looks great! Thank you for sharing the build. Suggestion: spread a load of gravel around the cabin to help keep the dust down and prevent mud from splashing on the sides when I rains.
Thank you, and yes! We just talked about that a few weeks ago. It’s on the list!
Floor when you flipped over, very ingenious, and metal siding, great ideas.
Thank you!🙏
WOW, that was SO many backaches ago! Congratulations Patrick a job well done 👍 👍
It’s good being back on the job site with you again.
Good choice on the color for the door!
I guess that’s about it for the cabin. What a ride glad I didn’t miss it!
If you have another adventure coming along, will you give me a shout out if you would like to come along. Take care of yourself Patrick.
The method you used for insulating the floor was so helpful.
Glad to have you! …backache or not. I appreciate you taking this ride with me. 🙏
Great job! Thanks for taking us along. I enjoyed watching your progress very much! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🫡
Thank YOU for being here!
Great videos, Patrick. My favorite was the unique floor.
Thanks!! 🙏
You should be very proud, Patrick. Great patience, good workmanship and an awesome design! My favorite video of the build (by far) was the most watched video regarding the flooring/upside down way you created it. Can't wait to see upcoming projects. Happy summer on The Moose.
Wow thank you! I must have accidentally edited in the “patience” part! Just ask Karen! Appreciate you riding along. 🙏
The nostalgic recaps were nice touch. :)
Thanks!!
Consultations and cheers. We learned much and appreciated all the hard work you did. Thank You.
Red Moose Ranch a beautiful property in the mountains.
Thanks! I appreciate you riding along. 🙏
Congratulations! I'm very happy for you! But it’s not much of a pity that we have to part with this project.
My favourite build was the raising of the roof.
Great Accomplishment! Perseverance, determination and a lot of sweat paid off. Plenty of expertise and skill involved too. Congratulations on a job well done!
Thank you! That means a lot. 🙏
super job Patrick....I enjoyed ever episode of this adventure you did.....awesome...go on please and let all of us enjoy more of youre projects youre gonna start in the future....greetings from the nederlands...
Thank you!!🙏
I learned a little something from every video. Methods, techniques and best practices just watching you work - exactly why I watched them all, learn a little.
Thanks for sharing this, and for being a good sport. I think you took away some of the fears some (me included) might have about a project like this. Guaranteed, I’m going to hear your voice “let’s get to work” many times over the next few years!
Thank you;
I really appreciate that. I’m honored.🙏
Beautiful!! Job well done!!
Thanks!!
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for being here!
Congratulations! I enjoyed every minute of your videos. Looking forward to your next project.
Thank you! That means a lot.🙏
Congratulations with project ending! 🎉 This all series was epic..
Door color choice was perfect! Fits cabin..
I have multiple favorite episodes because they share some great ideas.. 👍 Can't pick up single one..
Now waiting for kitchen project start. 😉
Thank you so much! I appreciate that. 🙏
Great job, that was a lot of work for just one man. I built a 32 x 48 foot poll barn in Michigan 85% myself took me 8 mouths, that not including the inside. I makes you feel great when it was done. Keep up the great work,
It certainly is rewarding isn’t it. 🙏
Thank you for letting us join you on your journey of building your cabin. Your dedication and achievements are truly commendable. It was a joy to witness your passion and enjoyment throughout the process.
Thank you, that means a lot! I appreciate you being on the journey. 🙏
My favorite video was the building of the floor also. I thought it was a slick idea. Once I saw that video I was hooked. You have inspired me to do the same type of build. Although your landscape is tough to beat. Can't wait for the next project.
That’s great! Let me know how your build goes. 🙏
The video I appreciated the most was the one in which you showed how you insulate the floor while building it. I had been wracking my brain trying to figure out how to both insulate a floor and keep it out of reach of rodents. Your method looks very promising.
Hey thanks so much! It’s working great so far, here. I think one key is leaving it all open underneath the structure…with no “skirting.” No chance for moisture build-up, and not ideal for rodents.
I would like to see your family there with you to enjoy your efforts! 😁 Great job you did on all your tasks! Really a sweet cabin to be proud of!
Thank you! I appreciate that. I want to see that, too! 🙏
Love the background music
Thank you! I do too, although not everyone does.
I liked it all but I really like watching. You build the cabinets great build !!
Thank you!🙏
Congrats on finishing the cabin. Thanks for making the videos, it was fun watching you build it.
I appreciate that! It was fun building it.
Wow, I can't believe it's finally done, good job! I guess my favorite episode was the cabin subfloor, because it was such a unique idea. (I probably would have been crawling around underneath the cabin afterwards to install that sheeting 😄)
Ha thanks!🙏
Very nice to see the finished cabin all wrapped up and ready for decorating! Awesome job Patrick. I have done a lot of things without help, but never tried something quite this big. My favorite video was probably to do with the siding and the next best was when the tung oil was applied, it really made everything come to life! The most nerve wracking one was when you were putting up the ridge beam. I did a lot of leaning and grunting and did my best to help but in the end you still had to do all the work. Cheers to you on a job well done!
Ha thank you! I did a lot of grunting myself in that one! 🙏
As always, I look forward to EACH video!! Keep up your GREAT work!! always Enjoy!! Dean Sperle
Thank you, Dean! 🙏
Outstanding work, Sir! May favorite parts are the framing episodes.
Why thank you 🙏
Thanks for the inspiration and a few good friends to help me build my dream cabin , thanks again
That means a lot. The thanks goes to you!
Inspiration full tilt! Putting up a cabin now!
Holy cow, thanks! Let me know how it goes. 🙏
14x32. , all 4 walls are up now.
You have done well. The episode I found was the most interesting was the first I saw which was you building the floor upside down...how clever is that and how unique...I never seen it, not even on the interwebs... great idea to build a floor system like that...
Looking forward to the next series of build videos or whatever you decide to put on the channel... be well sir...
Thank you! 🙏
Watching the very end video, there is one things that stands out, and that is the exposed underside of the roof sheeting..particulaylly the front elevation. Maybe stain it like the rest to blend in. Will wait for the outdoor kitchen.
I get that! Many months ago, my wife and I talked about doing just that. And then it faded away from our consciousness I guess!
