It's really cool seeing the opposing team players and coaches, The Hawkeyes themselves and an entire packed stadium forget about the game for a minute and get excited to support the kids.
I wanna help the children as much as the next guy. But the Art of War says when ur enemy is sad give him something to cry about. Youre giving your enemy a golden opportunity to catch you off guard.
As an Iowa fan myself, I think you've entirely misunderstood the point of the wave. It *is* waving at someone in the hopes that they get better, but the Children's Hospital is so good, they'll be just fine. It's just nice to see the kids showing their support to our offense, which is a lot more borderline 😜

Mel Tucker isnt the current head coach at Michigan State; it is Johnathan Smith who coached at Oregon State last season. Tucker was fired in disgrace for masturbating over the phone to a colleague & sexual assault survivor. It gave the university an out to not pay him the rest of his ridiculous contract after an underwhelming 2022 season. The Woodshed name has been a thing since the 80s, apparently; Mel just revived it.
The Northwestern field in the game is actually Ryan Field. Lanny and Sharron Martin Stadium is the name of the lakeside field that temporarily will host Northwestern while the new Ryan Field is built. However, it is only called Lanny and Sharron Martin Stadium when it hosts Soccer and Lacrosse. Northwestern announced for football, it will be called Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium. 5:36

@psychorabbitt I was a kid at the children's hospital back in 05 before they built the new one. But the hospital has always been across the street when I was sick dying in a hospital room watching the game on TV you would hear the crowd cheer so loud before you would see it on TV because of delay and it was the coolest feeling and a great way to distract families from how bad it felt at times. I can't imagine being up there and watching the actual game. The connection between the children's hospital and Iowa athletics is something so special. Hopefully the new OC can bring a few more touchdowns for the kids this year.
Another cool Michigan tradition that isn’t in the intro but can be heard while you are playing a game is the announcement of the Slippery Rock University football score. Decades ago, some schools would announce Slippery Rock scores because the name of the school was kind of funny. Today, only Michigan continues the tradition and Michigan fans cheer when it is announced that Slippery Rock is either leading or has won.
Beaver Stadium (Penn State) is enormous (like your mom) & quite an electric place to watch a game. The student section & alumni section are opposite each other & throughout the game, they chant back & forth "WE ARE ... PENN STATE" alternating - it's a pretty cool thing to behold, hear & be a part of.
Couple of things on Camp Randall from the bits I could see in the images (don't have the game) - the "Jump Around" graphic scrim on the SW ramp is accurate - the sign in the player's tunnel is +/- accurate - You can kind of see it in the video when the team runs out, but the NW & SE sidelines bear the name "BARRY ALVAREZ FIELD" which is accurate - the modeling & level naming for the recently completed South Endzone project is pretty accurate & the level naming is correct - they do not have the lowest level rows of the bowl correct as there are tarps there - the building partially visible (see ~3:39) is the Athletics Operations building - hopefully it is visible in the game, but the South Endzone abuts the Wisconsin Field House which is on the National Register of Historic Places (recent project further connected these buildings) - not visible in stadium, but Sec P & most of the hand-rails were modified/installed over the past few years - there are a few other recent changes but there would not be a good way to model them Love the vids 5-Points
I wished the UofI would have worked with the Peoria tribe’s request to make Chief Illiniwek to honor the Peoria tribe traditions. Such as having a traditional Algonquin ceremonial outfit instead of a Lakota-Sioux, and educational programs on native history and culture. These demands the Peoria tribe originally sought were not unreasonable. No one won because of the university’s decision.
Nebraskas horseshoe was found in the dirt during the creation of the stadium and throwing the bones is a nod to the blackshirts the nickname for the defense 7:09
Fun facts about Illinois. Our Memorial Stadium was built to honor Illinois veterans. The campus ROTC is present for every game. When we score, they do a push up for each point we’ve scored. It’s probably not well known because…well…we don’t score much. 🤦🏽♀️ Yes…we suck. Go Illini.
9:08 They also didn't include Purdue Pete in the intro so they could keep their E rating. It might have gotten a T or M rating if they included those soulless eyes lmao
Nebraska actually switched the tunnel walk that they go out of for the 2023 season. They went out of the North west Tunnel from 2006-2022 and the last time they went out of that tunnel was the 2023 spring game. They now go out of the North east tunnel as of the 2023 season, they made this change because the new facility and lockeroom was on the northeast side of the stadium. Anyways the game still had them coming out of the Northwest tunnel
