Tales of Symphonia, an action RPG and one of the most critically-acclaimed titles in the series.

Do you have any of your own Tales of Symphonia easter eggs, Secrets, or bits of trivia you want to share?
Not only Zelos' weapon changes with the formal outfit. I'm positive Presea's changes to a stuffed animal toy with her Little Madam costume.
@@AlDesentis I've heard rumors of that before but couldn't find any video proof. I honestly wasn't even sure if the bouquet was real either, and was pleasantly surprised to see it appear on my first battle :O
@@WesDoesGames oh yeah, it seems the "costume weapons" have a very low chance to happen, I remember someone saying that Sheena pulls out a fan, but I've never seen that.
Just recently I found that Clara can go back to Palmacosta, after a lifetime of seeing her stranded in Izoold. Symphonia is the gift that keeps on giving.
@@AlDesentis ha! I actually had the Clara bit as an Easter egg and cut it out for time. Yeah, she goes back to Palmacosta, which at that point in the story is destroyed, to go find her family (who is dead). I think she would have been better off if she stayed a monster 👻

Another Easter egg that I've heard about (haven't confirmed, though) is that characters often react when someone close to them goes down in battle (besides Lloyd when they are soulmates). I think the list goes like this:
Lloyd - his soulmate
Colette - Genis, Raine and Sheena
Genis - Colette, Raine and Presea
Raine - Everyone (I think?)
Sheena - Colette and Zelos
Zelos - all the girls
Presea - no one
Regal - Presea
Kratos - Colette (?)
I just got to see the "Palmacosta awards event" when you go back to the city before visiting the Tower of Salvation for the first time. I was grinning the whole time, it was like listening old friends tell you about a silly anecdote they had from a couple years ago. This game has so much charm in it, thanks for giving it a corner of the internet with quality content.

Some more easter eggs/secrets in the game?
When you don't run away until you fight Botta & Yuan together you will get the title "Brave Soul" for Lloyd.
There is also a title for not using Gels and not dying for Genis & Colette up until the fight with Iubaris and Pronyma (Fooji Mountains). Guess which two titles I wanted to get in my Chronicles playthrough simultaniously? Also the character that needs to get the title has to be in the party for it aka Colette for Iubaris and Genis for the Pronyma battle.
When your combined character level is under 145 before you fight Rodyle Lloyd(?) will get another title.
Completing the Red Light, Green Light Minigame with Genis will hand you not only the Strategist title but also, when you do that minigame once around when you get to Derris Kharlan, his strongest or second strongest weapon "United World".
When getting back to Exire in CD2 for GC or after the Iselia Human Ranch event you can find out more about Raine's past and how it explains where she and Genis come from or what happened to her mother in an particular house on that floating village.
When Zelos has the highest affinity to Lloyd when the Altessa Kratos scene happens he will come out to check on Lloyd (alongside Colette?) and starts having his own dialogue about Lloyd's goals.
When you wait in Mizuho during your first visit before heading out to get Volt (afaik) you can get a title for Zelos called "Idiotic Chosen".
While at it, when you wait around on the worldmap and before heading first to the temple of Volt you can get the rare skit "Paw Paw" which gives Presea a title. And that rare skit has another tied rare skit to it which one can get for Regal when one waits before heading into searching Gnome at his place so that the skit "Paw-Mania(?)" gets triggered.
When Genis swaps his weapons 10(?) times in one battle around he can get an extra title.
Also when Genis does nothing at all in a fight he will receive a title.
When Colette does not run and only walk in a fight then she can get another title for herself.
The game rewards the player for each character arriving at level 100 with an extra title for them, including Kratos! And Level 100 is no the maximum level in that game!
There are also two extra weapons for Regal & Presea when they get to level 80 and visit Ozette and the Hot Springs, giving them their best weapons technically speaking.
If one has gotten the Kratos Flanoir scene one can get back to Triet and have a sleepover at the inn for a rare scene with Kratos resembling the one from earlier in the game where one gets more lore about Noishe.
And one of the darker and more analytical easter eggs is why Mithos 2nd phase is so.. "unappealing" and sorta anticlimatic for people. That final boss fight is WAY harder if none of the 3 Welgaia bosses have been defeated before because they reflect a part of Mithos himself and also his lore. It's also the game directly reflecting what Mithos thinks about himself and that it shows how broken he is as a character when you see the three scenes in Welgaia about Lloyd's friends, because it's basically Mithos talking to himself about some character treats he dislikes.
Also there is an additional title for Lloyd if he does.. 256(?) battles on hard mode or higher which gives him the incredible helpful Berserker title, boosting his HP & STR per level up for 10 points!
When you did the spiritua sidequest with Koton in Sylvarant at the Hakonesia Pass and return to him at around the mana cannon/getting all storyrelates summons part then you can get the GOLDEN ARMOR from him, an armor which besides quite high points in defense has additional resistences to 4 elements afaik.
There are quite some more easter eggs, secrets and so forth but I think that's enough for now. If you need more for your video I can name some still!
Raine adds Lemon to all of her dishes when you level them up with her
Also she has a skit where she talks about inventing a new dish, rice stuffed lemons.
Raine's Bunny outfit probably got the ears removed because Playboy Bunnies existed.

If Sheena is wearing her successor outfit, she will sometimes have Hanafuda cards as her weapon, similar to Zelos's and Presea's flowers and bunny plush respectively.
The removal of the bunny ears on Raine's new outfit from the PS2 Onwards may have to do with legal concerns from Playboy more than censorship. Also the requirements to fight Maxwell are a reference to Tales of Phantasia where those would be the only Summons Sprits Klaus would have at that point and were required for a puzzle to summon Maxwell. Maxwell is gotten very early in Phantasia.

i was obsessed with this game as a kid i beat it around 11-12 times just so i can max out sheenas stats because she made my pants feel funny

Back in the day there was something considered the "hard path"? I thought that was gonna be in one of these videos aswell. Regardless i enjoyed both of them alot! This game will forever have a special place in my heart
aka accidently walking to Hima, checking out what is going on there and when trying to get back to Izoold because you remembered the "way across the ocean" hint not being able to take that anymore and thus for some people ruining their savefile that way cuz the hard route is not balanced around taking that route in terms of bosses.
@@Evilriku13 yeah I accidentally took hat route on my 2nd playthrough on the ps3 after not playing the game for years and I was confused why I struggled a bit with the bosses. in a way I think it's cool that something like that is in the game but man does it ruin the experience for some people
About Kratos rejoining the team...i really wish that there could be a way to have both Kratos and Zelos permanently instead of killing Zelos or Kratos staying in Dirk house as a MPC. I bet, with both of them, the game would have been funnier in battles (since i main Kratos because i love him, i'd leave Zelos at the cpu along with Colette and Raine). But hey, with this i discovered lots of secrets i didn't know, so thank you. :D Now i know where's that event for making Kratos's affection higher with the answer "i wonder who it is"

@@WesDoesGames I saw the video on skie of arcadia, all that's missing is baten kaitos with the HD remaster that nitendo will be releasing this summer, it would be a good idea to have a series of videos in the same genre as TOS and SOA!

Something neat you can do is get Genis's "Honor Roll" title in Palmacosta at anytime but becomes unavailable to get once the events of the Iselia Ranch happen (for obvious reasons 😅) But this means you can actually save it for when you're back in Sylvarant with the Tethe'allan cast and see how well they did on the test with the Sylvarant gang. Its nothing extravagant but its just kind of a neat detail you can see if you save it for later
I remember that! There's definitely a ton of fun scenes you could easily miss in this game
Here's a little thing about this game that very few people have seen: In the casino, if you're lucky, you can trigger a "lucky mode" during the slots where every result is nigh-on guaranteed to get you 2 or more lines of triple-7s. This mode lasts for a little while and will net you such an OBSCENE number of tokens that you'll be set for countless playthroughs after that. I personally got over 3mil. However, nobody knows the conditions for its activation or the likelihood of it happening. It is extremely rare. Some theories posit that the casino favors Regal since he owns the whole place, but no data exists to confirm that.

I know this game....upsettingly well lol There's other stuff like the "tech glitch" only available on the GC version of the game, a glitch that causes Lloyd to permanently have the Eternal Sword (no benefit, it's actually a debuff), and a bunch of other little tips and tricks throughout the game. Speaking of...
I love both Zelos and Kratos, but objectively speaking, Zelos is the better character in terms of gameplay. Just to throw my thoughts in regarding what you said about choosing between the two. Kratos's personal skill is crap compared to Zelos's, Zelos has a larger move pool, and Zelos has TWO mystics, the latter of which is super easy to trigger and hit with.
Another Easter egg on GameCube a minor one and missable if u select a different member from the party to be your avatar and u save the game with set character the memory card logo on the GameCube changes like say if u have Lloyd as the avatar the GameCube memory card logo it’s Lloyd but if u have Genis it changes to Genis cool Easter egg

I've heard that there's a gamecube they forgot to remove from the PS2 version of the game. It's an orange gamecube in the elemental research lab in Meltokio and you can only see it during a specific camera angle during a cutscene there.
I remember the gamecube there, funny it'd still be there on ps2 🤣

To be fair I did for a while and till now it's just interchangeable
At least he pronounces Kratos correctly, and not like the God of War character. Way too many videos do that.
I've seen people who claim to be huge fans of ToS still say it like that... Makes me wonder if some video creators intentionally mispronounce words to get people to comment and correct them.
Mithos = Lloyd + Genis
Martel = Colette + Raine
Kratos = Presea + Regal
Yuan = Sheena + Zelos
Zelos dies in every playthrough, sorry I don't make the rules.

If I remember, originally he would die in every route unless you pick him for the Doctor scene. Or at least it was one idea before they changed it
