Been on super sports for about 30 years... I'm now pushing 60 and my back and wrists hurt after every ride, I picked up a 2023 MT 09 SP last summer and I absolutely love it.
Yep just done the same , 20+ years on r1's , last couple years I was ok for 1hr then it started, neck , shoulders knees wrist toes even my bladder 😂 I'm 57 and just got a mt10 🎉😊 .love it , should have made the switch years ago but the r1's are amazing bikes and I am blessed to have been lucky enough to to own / ride & love them and survive..
I personally bought the mt09 because of the comfort. I have been on many bikes from super sports to adventure bikes and I always lean back to Sport tourers and nakeds. Riding those War Machines make my wrists and back hurt 30 minutes in, impossible for a full day of riding without very frequent stops and fiddling around in the seat to get comfortable. Want insane power and comfortability? S1000XR/Mt09/Z1000sx/Tracer9GT All of the options I mentioned are extremely powerful good for track and daily use. But if you really are a die hard rider I would recommend getting 2 motorcycles if you are ok for it financially. I personally intend on getting a second bike soon for those spirited rides.
I disagree about the leaning. Naked bikes are made for the twisties - they are more flickable through tight corners and also get out of a corner quicker since it's a lot of work to keep the revs that high up (hence V4's are kicking inline 4's in moto gp races). Where sport bikes excel is on high speed corners - like at a track or certain wider highways with large, sweeping corners. The precision with which they attack a line a higher speeds is incredible. So it depends what kind of twisties you're talking about - but I believe most of us can agree that there is a difference between the two. Overall, sport bikes are sexy and excel and one or two things, while naked bikes are more versatile and easier to live with. The right answer is - you need both in your garage.. along with a cruiser and an adventure bike. Life's too short to not see one of each in your garage and pick the right tool for your mood that day.
Thanks for your thoughts man. I'm waiting for my 2022 MT09-SP to arrive and I can't wait to ride it. My neighbour has a Triumph 675SE and I was riding that for a few weekends. I don't regret the naked decision as it can tackle both worlds (city riding/commuting and day-long touring rides) and be great in both instead of awesome in one and not the other. Love the videos and keep it up.
Just got an R1. No lie, I regret it. Yes it's fast, but ffs, it's uncomfortable. Should have gone mt09. I never do track or road racing. So it would have been better for me.
I love my 2023 Kawasaki Z900RS, and for being my first motorcycle to ride and buy, I don't regret getting a naked bike, and I love the aesthetic of it.
@omerbendoly7231 Yes sir! No fear cavalry with that bike! The first 2 weeks was a bit sketchy but grew into it. I've done several mods to it as well, and about to give it a tune and sprocket change! Already put 6200 miles on it for being a weekend warrior lol super nimble, quick, and comfortable ride. I've even taken 5 passengers on day trips in rotation after upgrading the suspension and adding on a pillion seat back rest. I still drive during the winter, but that's cuz I live in California. Thanks for checking in broski!
I've owned both an R1 and MT 10. That said, Sport (R1) in your younger years, then, Naked (MT 10) as you get a little older. That's how I did it, but who am I to tell anyone what to do. Just ride. 😀
Naked for sure… More comfortable, wind is pushing at u much more so it feels faster at slower speed so its a bit safer and it slows down a bit better too bcs its less aerodynamic and ofc low torque
Had a 2014 R6. Loved it. Would love a new one. Just bought the 2023 XSR900. Absolutely love it. Im more comfortable and I seem to have more fun. R6 definatley looks best though
I have had big inline 6 cylinder bikes, 1300 inline 4s, some v4s etc. So I bought a MT09 because of its weight since I am about 80 years old. I didn’t realize that I had found the Holy Grail of motorcycles. In the zero to 120 mph range it will stay with anything and usually blow the doors off of most. The bike does big roads little roads and race tracks with equal aplomb. It is very hard not to ride it like a complete idiot because it wants to go. The thing builds speed so effortlessly and is extremely smooth. It handles twisties like race bikes of only a few years ago. Good riding position for me at six feet and 190 pounds with riding gear on. I put a throttle lock cruise control on and a little touring windshield. Cleaned up the tail and added a handful of little bits. I find it will work for a trip bike very nicely. Was concerned about only 3.7 gallons of gas but found if you ride comely ( within legal limits) you can run 180 miles before looking for gas. The fact it has power and torque everywhere means you won’t be constantly shifting. Top speed on my MT09 comes in 5th gear at redline, to produce 144 mph. If can hold on to it a quarter mile takes 9.98 seconds at a trap speed of 119 mph. Love it.
When we are still young : sport, supermoto etc When we are older : naked, adv, cruiser etc Spend your youth with aggresive bikes first then comfy bikes second not the other way around Or like me, superbike for around town and ADV for touring
I have GSXR600 12’ 125HP/torque and friend has a Z1000 03’ 127/71 torque. He can beat my GSXR from 0-100 and I catch him at 120. We swap bikes a lot and my wife likes his because she says she’s more comfortable on longer rides.
I also felt that my mt09 2022 is not stable in high speeds no matter how light I was on the handle bars. I put hyperpro steering dumper and its a day and night difference so so much better. Your video is great as always. BTW for me personally the low end torque of the 600 is a deal breaker and I'll trade in time my mto9 only for 1000 Superbike or something like the touno v4
The mt09 is not built with top speed in mind, it's simply a bad ass hooligan bike and very fun to ride everyday. If I had to choose one bike, it would be a naked. The ducati v4s is on the list 😉
How has your steering damper held up? The head shake I get accelerating on the hwy is freaky sometimes 😳 I’m also very light on the bars, got tank grips to hold on with my legs.
I think the focus was nore in aerodynamics with the latest model. And the power reduction was due to emission standards. That's why they stopped making it.
I think the fz09 looks better, i rather the fz for the reasons he mentioned, plus im not going to be driving around at 200kph for a long time to risking getting fine for stunting
idk I had my R1 for a bit over a year in Chicago and I loved it, lane split everywhere, ripped down LSD and the interstates. I guess it depends what kind of a city you live in. Hell, I even did and still do door dash on my R1
Have both, got rid of the MT09SP to only ride on the track with an R6. MT09 is way better IMO on technical roads in the mountains with a proper setup, aka not the base model MT09, I was going through a rear tire almost every weekend at the pace I was going on the 09SP. It can easily pop the front wheel up coming out of corners and passing traffic, it can be a very capable bike with a proper suspension setup which unfortunately the base model MT09 does not have very good suspension, its very basic and if you are even slightly fast you will realize its not good at all, but its easy to upgrade. I had no issue keeping up with expert group riders on fully setup 1000cc bikes who were riding hard on the streets going elbow down and hard on the gas and brakes every corner because we werent going 100+ mph. On the track is a different story though, the 09 would get smoked. Now I ride an R6 on full ohlins and its fully setup for me. Its the faster bike on the track, the MT09 is not very good at cornering at high speeds but on my R6 I can be near elbow down at 130MPH and still feel comfortable. IMO if you want to go fast in the mountains, a nicely setup MT09 on real suspension will be more fun and can easily hang with 1000cc supersports just because it has so much torque. The 09 just has explosive power on the low end that supersports dont have, which IMO is why its better for the streets. But if you want to ride on the track, go supersport.
Been riding my z1000 for years. Torquey and more comfortable than a full fledged sport bike for sure but sometimes I miss that raw wide open power of a super bike. If you line them up from a dig, the z1000 will take any superbike off the line and stay in front until about 100-110mph, at that point the superbike is in its stride and roars past. It’s all relative to the rider though, I’ve done 1/4 mile runs against friends on bikes like a zx10r and k7 gsxr1000 and taken them just because they really couldn’t launch their bikes and I can pretty consistently run a low 10. But if we ran a half mile it wouldn’t matter if they got on it I’d be left behind and I’d lose every 60-130 too.
I have an R6 and I love it, it's the bike I've wanted since I was a kid (the 03-05 5SL model in blue). However, every time I ride it I keep thinking "this isn't great for cruising around on" and I'm getting more interested in the idea of having an armchair with 2 wheels. Not yet though, I'm still too in love with the R6 to get rid of it.
i love the video quality, its so cinematic! i think supersport is best if you mostly ride on a highway, and naked is best for city/street riding with many stop and gos. with that said, i think supersport bikes look so much cooler, as a naked bike owner lol
naked MT09 any day. Seating position is way more comfortable, and without the plastic fairings in the way for servicing, looks is subjective. Power wise, again naked again. more torque at lower revs.
Ive got a naked bike and it's a torque monster, so fun and practical for quick rides but I'd prefer super sports for a lot of long riding and top end cruising. As for looks I like both but super sports a little more.
I got a MT-03 as my first bike, I’ve had it for 2 years already, looking for an upgrade of power.. before owning a motorcycle my dream bike was a r6 because of the looks and sound and power but now as I watch more content and get more opinions from people that tested those bikes and I drive mostly on street I think MT-09 fits more for me. I like both bikes but the for the look R6 touches my heart.
@@Reincarny I ride in town and outside of town, don’t have a track nearby. I want it for my day to day use. R7 looks great and I’m sure it has enough power for me but is not as comfortable as the naked bike.
I have a kawasaki Concours and i know my bike is fast last week i was taking a little ride around and was not looking for a street race at a red light on my left lane their was a Yamaha mt-09 and when the light turn to green i saw that Yamaha went for a stand still and the next second he was gone so fast could believe it lol its so light weight and fast its a great bike but i love the comfort of my Concours for long trip cant beat it that for sure .Ride safe man
Test rode the MT-09SP at Yamaha Demo Days, and I am intoxicated by its power. I will for sure be buy him next year. I currently have a 21' MT-07 (67hp and 48lbs Torq) and after riding the 9, I am VERY happy with it. I have never been a fan of "super bikes", because of seat positing AND to power that I will NEVER use in the city or highway. I believe the triple power is plenty for daily use. But that's me....#YAMIFAMFORLIFE
I like the looks of super sport bikes, had a Panigale until 3 years ago but I must admit I love naked bike and the exposed engine look❤ Riding a monster 1200s for 3 years now😊
If you r riding it daily, of course naked is the right choice.. But if u r riding it once a week like me , ss can be an option. (an ex Mt 09 , a new cbr 1000rr user)
Yep well documented ! As i ride an MT 09 23 Naked but i push it hard and it's the wind pressure stops me going further and was wondering how much difference does a super sort have ?
I had an r1 and yes passing 4 cars at once was nice but there was 0 power until above 60mph so literally any time I was having fun I was 1 breaking the law and usually 2 committing a felony. Trying to get an xsr 900 now struggling with inventory but I'm not giving up.
one main thing this video did not mention is, a lot of naked bikes if not most, have shorter gear range. which is why they say top speed is like 234kmh, its gonna be more like 220kmh or maybe even less due to shorter gear range. so tbh, i'd rather get a super sport bike and then convert it into a naked bike. its fairly easy to do. simple remove the fairings, replace the head lights and get either a bar riser or rise the clip ons. I did the same with my bike. it's gonna be a more comfortable ride as well as more power being delivered.
Gotta disagree with looks. IMO nakeds look better, especially for street duty. Super sports look like they belong strictly for the track. Great video man!
Yea personally i've always preferred the look of naked. Z1000, Streetfighter V4, 1290R, Speed triple etc. They just look amazing, but more importantly unique. Most sport bikes mostly look the same to me.
I'm researching for mid-range (600cc to 900cc) naked bikes that I will also use for touring in summer (around 4 to 5 hours tours). I am considering the trident 660 as I love its rounded classic looks (the competition has that "transformers" looks that I cannot digest), but is it good for touring? Also the Rebel 1100 (I know, not a naked but apparently a good commuter bike) but I am conscious about its performance for the price.
What would be the best naked-ish bike for touring? Thanks guys.
I love my MT09SP, but miss the aerodynamics of supersport. My ideal bike is MT09 motor, with all the supersport fairings. But don't know if that exists. Probably if R9 has the same engine as MT - that will be my dream bike. Something like a liter supersport - seems like too much for street riding. ( Been there, it's cool, but always get that feeling that there is too much unused potential )
Something like that is probably a Ninja 650. Not as powerful but the torque is in most of the low/mid revs, has fairings and windshield and pegs positioned like a naked, so you have a much more comfortable riding position. In the higher CCs probably there isn't one like that. Maybe some tourer but it's not really the same. Those are bulky, heavy most of the times
R9 sounds like a dream but I’ve got an f4i now and want risers but don’t wanna chop it up and clearance is tight, don’t know how forgiving clearance would be on a hypothetical r9. So yeah, ninja 650 ergos
Thx for this vid was really helpful for the decicion on my first bike, gonna be the kawasaki z500 se then, for a moment i was asking myself why exactly did you straight on just look into nakeds xD
There's pretty much no sport bike out there that looks enticing enough for me to ditch my 1290r. The torque is immense while being vastly more comfortable and having basic luxuries like cruise control and a fuel gauge. Even top speed wise it can hit around 280-290 which is more than enough to keep up with any bike or car on any road, minus the Autobahn.
Great video ! Is the difference in where the power is (low/high rev) noticeable on smaller bikes like the r3 and mt03? I will primarily use it in cities so the mt should be better but man I can't get over the look of the R3 hahaha.
I've been really contemplating on getting a CB650R for city ridding, it is an inline four, but I hear it delivers power around 7-8k rpm, has smoother low end. I ride an MT07 it is fun and all, but at low speeds it is always asking to rev, it has a lot of torque on low end, makes it a bit uncomfortable because you have to ride it hard off of every stop or else the bike is not smooth.
Mt07 is not that powerful anyway. I'm riding 800cc inline four and until it reaches 6k rpm its very peaceful though still powerful acceleration and after 6 k rpm it just flies. Few days ago i rented a ktm duke 990 which theoreticaly has only 20 hp more but man... the second you open up a throttle it has the same acceleration that my bike has over 6k rpms. With duke it is just instant and then if gets even stronger which was absurd for me. I couldn't believe the power it has at low rpms and so does mt 09 or i guess most modern hypernakeds with two or three cylinders, and now i want nothing else than to have this power delivered instantly.
@@siemniak I ended up selling my MT07 and got the MT-09. I love the bike. Way more power than the MT07 but way more linear power delivery. Also way more stable on the freeway.
One question. you said that there is no point in riding a SUPER SPORT bike in the city, but the motorcycle I would like would be a 2017 Yamaha YZF - R125 or I would buy a 2016 KTM 125 Duke if I ride in the city most of the time, which one should I buy?
Dont know about yzf-r125 but i know mt125 from yamaha and i know ktm duke 125. And duke sucks compared to mt125. Its slower top speed slower acceleration and of course the durability of ktm is not something this brand is famous for and i can couch for that. Also mt125 is much more comfortable. Ktm is not bad not gonna lie but the moment i switched to mt125 it's very obvious which one is better. One disadvantage though to mt125. Im 6'4 and i have no place for my legs on mt-125 unless i sit way back whereas i don't have this problem on KTM.
Hello I am considering if naked but can travel. I like daily tidings around 600 km in highways and backroads. Also I like traveling crosscountry and in other country’s. Now I have cb500x. If I buy naked bike can do the same easily or it’s will be harder? It’s better to check in other category like v strom 800 or nc750x?. In the mean time with my finances I think with naked I am buying more motorcycles than other categories and the hornet 750 and mt 09 likes me very much but I am not sure if it’s for my use. I am soft rider 1.70 and I traveling with pillion rarely
I have had 2 R6's and pick up my new MT09SP this weekend, hoping the MT naked. lower revving and with Cruise control will enable me to slow down a bit and keep my licence .....hopefully (57 years old lol)
Naked motorcycles usually have up to 50% lower insurance costs. this is because they do not invite any longer runs at HIGH speed due to the wind resistance. many people think that up to 140-150 km/h is ok....
Both good bikes in different ways. Depends on what floats your boat... 3 cyl muscle grunt with all the rider aids... or a peakier 4 pot with basic aids.
I had a CB919 and I did a 5.5 hour trip on it one time. my neck was DEAD. My R1 is sooooo much more comfortable on the interstate with my fairings and windscreen. also warmer in the winter without all that damn wind!! ya know, if u aint a bitch and ride year round

Exactly what I thought, lower center of gravity would actually help with maneuvering.

I agree 💯%
It's so ugly
Ive got a naked bike and it's a torque monster, so fun and practical for quick rides but I'd prefer super sports for a lot of long riding and top end cruising. As for looks I like both but super sports a little more.
I got a MT-03 as my first bike, I’ve had it for 2 years already, looking for an upgrade of power.. before owning a motorcycle my dream bike was a r6 because of the looks and sound and power but now as I watch more content and get more opinions from people that tested those bikes and I drive mostly on street I think MT-09 fits more for me. I like both bikes but the for the look R6 touches my heart.
why dont you get an r7
@@Reincarny I ride in town and outside of town, don’t have a track nearby. I want it for my day to day use. R7 looks great and I’m sure it has enough power for me but is not as comfortable as the naked bike.
Top quality video bro!
I have a kawasaki Concours and i know my bike is fast last week i was taking a little ride around and was not looking for a street race at a red light on my left lane their was a Yamaha mt-09 and when the light turn to green i saw that Yamaha went for a stand still and the next second he was gone so fast could believe it lol its so light weight and fast its a great bike but i love the comfort of my Concours for long trip cant beat it that for sure .Ride safe man
Ugly battleship that can't maneuver anywhere
@D B I see how some think its ugly but It's not that bad in terms of maneuverability.. you obviously haven't ridden one.
Very clear explanation thanks for the video 🤝🏻 liked and subcribed
I like the looks of super sport bikes, had a Panigale until 3 years ago but I must admit I love naked bike and the exposed engine look❤
Riding a monster 1200s for 3 years now😊
Hey from Canada 🇨🇦 your Chanel popped up while I was looking at MT 09s subbed 👍🏻 great information too ✌🏻
Thanks for watching 🙏
It's criminal how you only have 1.5k... I wish you have more
Working on it 🙏
The D riding is crazy
Come to Western Australia on the Mid-West and the average temperature is 28C
This is next level shooting ✌️🔥
If you r riding it daily, of course naked is the right choice.. But if u r riding it once a week like me , ss can be an option. (an ex Mt 09 , a new cbr 1000rr user)
Yep well documented ! As i ride an MT 09 23 Naked but i push it hard and it's the wind pressure
stops me going further and was wondering how much difference does a super sort have ?
Technically air resistance is causing all vehicles to have a maximum speed. :3
I had an r1 and yes passing 4 cars at once was nice but there was 0 power until above 60mph so literally any time I was having fun I was 1 breaking the law and usually 2 committing a felony. Trying to get an xsr 900 now struggling with inventory but I'm not giving up.
Cp3 is the way
Something like a liter supersport - seems like too much for street riding
Get both. I have an XSR 900 and Im gonna buy a super sport next. Haven't picked which one yet.
Best solution to whoever can afford it!
Mt 09 looks just like the xj6 both 🔥
one main thing this video did not mention is, a lot of naked bikes if not most, have shorter gear range. which is why they say top speed is like 234kmh, its gonna be more like 220kmh or maybe even less due to shorter gear range. so tbh, i'd rather get a super sport bike and then convert it into a naked bike. its fairly easy to do. simple remove the fairings, replace the head lights and get either a bar riser or rise the clip ons. I did the same with my bike. it's gonna be a more comfortable ride as well as more power being delivered.
It's not just about the farings....
I own a 1000cc naked and a supersport - Daily the naked and use the litre bike for track days or weekend runs
6:31 immediately knew how his sentence was going to end
bro Yamaha R7 best supersport bike for city and do whellies its just great !
I'm gearing into Sports Bike for the looks but I know you'll get tired of it eventually. The utility and comfort should be my priority i guess.
Who rides a bike more on the track than the street though? Naked all the way, especially in comfort with the bars
Most sport bikes mostly look the same to me.
love your videos man
Thanks man!
תקשיב אני רואה את הסרטון ואומר לעצמי ״ זה לא חיפה ,בדיוק האית שם אתמול ״ 😂 , אחלה סרטון אחי 🤙🏼
חחח תודה
MT 09 all the way !!
954s love city riding ❤
With the news of the R9 which has the streetbike motor of the MT09 and the chassis of a sportspike. What do you think of it :)?
Great comparison! What kind of microphone/intercom are you using?
@stefanhansen5882 to record the vlog, I used the zoom h1n with a purple panda lav
Great contents 👍, suzuki gsx s1000GT could be an option to get the full fairing looks along with normal position
I have one!!! Its great and very powerful !! Great speed and good fore longer distance !! Low insurance costs
Nice comparision, btw is that Israel?
Thanks, yes it is
Thx for this vid was really helpful for the decicion on my first bike, gonna be the kawasaki z500 se then, for a moment i was asking myself why exactly did you straight on just look into nakeds xD
Why not on Autobahn?
Great Review man Keep it up!!!
Thanks man!
Great quality videos. Keep it up. Subbed
Thanks for tuning in!
Cbr650r it is! Thank you!
Great video ! Is the difference in where the power is (low/high rev) noticeable on smaller bikes like the r3 and mt03? I will primarily use it in cities so the mt should be better but man I can't get over the look of the R3 hahaha.
I honestly have no experience with the r3 or mt03. But I think they have the same engine.
Power band for both is basically identical
just get both!
Good video man!
The 650r is a more powerful bike over the mt07
@@newbierides i am jealous i need to wait another year
I did myself a favor and just got both.
For the environment you’re in a naked bike makes more sense. A supersport or super bike couldn’t stretch it’s legs.
I loved your video before and then noticed you live in Israel (me too) Now I love it more.
Thought absolutely the same!
Aesthetically ofcourse is subjective, but the naked bikes look Skelly af!
Yes please everyone buy Naked... so we can do the difference with the Super Sports.. can't wait to grab my Ninja 636 2005 soon.
uncomfortably after 40min, imagine daily
Hello I am considering if naked but can travel. I like daily tidings around 600 km in highways and backroads. Also I like traveling crosscountry and in other country’s. Now I have cb500x. If I buy naked bike can do the same easily or it’s will be harder? It’s better to check in other category like v strom 800 or nc750x?. In the mean time with my finances I think with naked I am buying more motorcycles than other categories and the hornet 750 and mt 09 likes me very much but I am not sure if it’s for my use. I am soft rider 1.70 and I traveling with pillion rarely
Thank you the video help a lot
quality filming bro
Thank you
That’s Haifa?
MT07 4 life
how do you record audio for this video? Sounds good quality probably not your bluetooth intercom
A lav mic connected to a zoom h1n
@@Moztreet Thank you!!!
The MT 07 makes a way better street bike than r6. 600s suck on the street. No power unless you ring it out.
I have had 2 R6's and pick up my new MT09SP this weekend, hoping the MT naked. lower revving and with Cruise control will enable me to slow down a bit and keep my licence .....hopefully (57 years old lol)
Enjoy it brother
What do you think on Ninja 400 for a city riding bike ?
great beginner bike
האנגלית שלך יפה ביחס לחיפאי 😁
אני אישית מעדיף את הmt10sp שלי על סופרספורט
The MT10 SP is a beast
R6 🔝🔥
Gracias bro excelente video muy útil para saber que moto es la q se ajusta a mis necesidades y gusto
We're you raised in America? How is he driving in Europe, using metric system with almost 0 accent????
Yes I lived in USA as a kid and been living in Europe for 20+ years
Hey what about insurance differences? Does it make a difference with the insurance prices?
Naked motorcycles usually have up to 50% lower insurance costs. this is because they do not invite any longer runs at HIGH speed due to the wind resistance. many people think that up to 140-150 km/h is ok....
Mt09 or z900?
Both good bikes in different ways. Depends on what floats your boat... 3 cyl muscle grunt with all the rider aids... or a peakier 4 pot with basic aids.
Ah for. Me paps whether city or highway I will ride sports bike commute, city or highway ride IL go sports bike like 450sr
תודה אחי

👍👍👍
I had a CB919 and I did a 5.5 hour trip on it one time. my neck was DEAD. My R1 is sooooo much more comfortable on the interstate with my fairings and windscreen. also warmer in the winter without all that damn wind!! ya know, if u aint a bitch and ride year round
