First I was watching these videos for lolz and memes but now I've actually downloaded Blender and started learning 3d modelling and now I'm actually using these videos as tutorials and I'm scared what's next

That said, there's usually a degree of effort that you can put in, too- like, you COULD just slap the texture onto some cubes and call it done in 2 minutes, and it'd get the point across, but IMO it's a lot more rewarding to take a while and make sure everything's projecting nicely.
I would import it as a model from blender so I could put it anywhere, but I would have to make it in 2.7 I have tried in the past to do these tutorials in blender 2.7, and it didn't end well...

Really is a powerful idea once you realise you don't have to recreate everything to an infinite level of detail to make it look good, you just gotta make it 'look right'. Like a painting, you can make something look like a leaf with a single brush stroke if you get the shape and colour right, you don't have to mechanically recreate everything bit by bit.
I believe Mark Twain once wrote something along the lines of "Apologies for the long letter, I didn't have time to write a shorter one." These videos are a testament to the depth of your knowledge and skill that you can distill things down to the lengths you do. Amazing work!

I have this personal project I'm working on where I want to make a city that has been abandoned and that nature is reclaiming. I don't want the city to look like a war zone just old and overgrown.
if you still struggle with this. You don`t have to find that option because it`s just the name he used for the object. What you do is just add particle system,to the city and instead of beacon choose your red cube, or just point at it with eydropper.
