Beautiful home! It's so refreshing to see someone like you here on RUclips who does not destroy their old home trying to make it look like the garbage they build today (if you want a new home, folks, buy a new home). I can tell you respect the historical nature of the home and a lot of love has gone into what you've done with it. What a wonderful place to live! You are lucky to have found such a warm, charming home in such great shape that hasn't been gutted or totured. A home like yours might be bad for me, though... I would never want to go outside!!! Ha. No matter... I'll have one someday soon.
Thank you so much. My main goal has always been to try to keep our house as authentic to its time as possible. I even considered bringing back the back staircase and butlers pantry. At one point the stairs where closed up and a bathroom was added. I love that the old stairs still exist in the walls though. It is so neat to see them with the original wallpaper too! Thank you for watching and I am so glad that you enjoyed my house tour.
christocr I absolutely agree!! It is very special to hold onto the history as much as possible. I’m so glad there are still a few of us left that want to preserve the past.
The key is creating a garden landscape that reflects that Victorian era, perhaps a beautiful green house. People took time to enjoy everyday life and the little moments. It’s a great way to live.
I almost didn't watch this because I thought it was going to be the usual renovated old house as in one that's been ruined. I'm so happy that it was not the case. This is my favourite era. Our home in UK is a mid terrace victorian 1851. it was built for the captain of the local silver lead mine. we are hoping to acquire the original deeds. thanks for the tour. you have a beautiful home and a gorgeous family.
Thank you so much for the positive feed back. I am glad that you enjoyed this. We try so hard to keep our old home well preserved and true to its time period. Thanks for watching!

Beautiful home! I especially loved the stained glass windows, fireplaces, and staircase! Its so nice that you used the more natural wood color!!!! Gorgeous detail!.... Thank you for sharing!
Your home is absolutely beautiful! You have done a great job maintaining its historic integrity. I just love it and I love your decorating style! Beautiful and inspiring home tour!
Loved the tour of your home. I was so refreshing to see you kept the house as original as you could to the decor. I have seen many beautiful victorian homes decorated with the modern colors and furniture. They paint the beautiful trim work, and in my opinion ruin the house. Your home is gorgeous! Love it!
Thank you so much. I love trying to bring things back to what they once where. I agree that the paint ruins all of the trim work and it is a nightmare to peel off but so beautiful when you can reveal the original woodwork. Thanks for watching and have a Happy Thanksgiving.
Beautiful historical home ! How wonderful that your lovely family gets to take care of her ! The fireplaces are so pretty with the colorful tiles ! I can wait to see the haunted house videos !!
Thank you. I do love our historic house. Old homes have always been an interest of mine. Can't wait to share some of our experiences with everyone this October. Thanks so much for watching.
that's mostly ALL that was shown of the HOUSE-a few fireplaces! A few doors and stained glass windows, SOME of the beautiful wood work. Didn't care what was in the canisters, where you got the plastic flowers, where you keep Leo's food n all your daily use things like that! The REMODELED bathrooms are authentic to the home? The STYLING was horrendous for THIS home! It was NOT SHOWN to the best potential of the HOME! Cluttered and the mix matched was not complementarily done. SORELY DISAPPOINTED w/not using OR showing this home as it should be.
You probably have the most beautiful home and decor I’ve ever seen. Your decor is impeccable and honors the house, many times people have an old house that gets overshadowed by modern decor and open concept rooms. The stained glass, fireplaces, just everything. Congratulations on your beautiful home and thanks for showing!
Love your home, it's beautiful. I lived in a Victorian home as a child that had stained glass windows, etc. Your home reminded me of it. Sadly the home burned after we moved out and someone else lived there. Often I reminisce after our years there.
Thank you! We have had a couple of old homes burn down on my block alone. I guess old homes are more susceptible to fires unfortunately. Thanks so much for watching.
Your home is beautiful and so organized!!! I love it!!! I also love how you kept the original character of your Victorian home. You hardly ever see a lot of Victorian homes anymore
Se transporta a otra época!!! Una verdadera Joya esta mansión Victoriana genuina. Esos ventanales en vitral hermosos, la niña hermosa! Gracias por compartir esta belleza de arquitectura, mobiliario y decoración..... Gracias!!!!!
Your home is beautiful! All the beautiful fireplaces, and the furniture! And your decor is so pretty with the antiques. That is amazing that you have some pieces from the original owners. Wow!
I actually cried when I received those chairs as a gift. It was amazing to have been lucky enough to meet someone so knowledgeable about our home. How generous it was for him to return the original furnishings to the house where is originated from. Thanks for watching.
Stunning... a house full of history, a real treasure and legacy of Victorian era. You are so lucky for having. I love it all! Tfs, Jen, I'm really enjoyed the video.
I really enjoyed your tour! Your woodwork is stunning and the wallpaper... just everything ! We bought a 1906 house last year and I am in the slow process of stripping many layers from the beautiful dark oak wood. Taking everything back as much as possible .
The end result is so worth all of the hard work. Good luck with your renovation. I love old homes and they are so charming when you restore them to what they once where.
I love the fact that you stripped and restored the wood to it’s beauty. I love these old houses with their beautiful architecture and charm. OMG, your daughter was so wonderful showing us her room! What a darling girl she is!
Thank you! You have a beautiful home. I love Victorian homes that *look* Victorian and are decorated in the Victorian way. Your fireplaces are amazing, I'm so glad you left them, instead of removing them, like so many people do with older homes. The stained glass windows are amazing as is all the original woodwork. Your house is beautiful and you have a lovely sense of style.
I loved the tour of your home....very historic..I love older homes so much history there....the stained glass windows are so pretty.. I love all the wood, and the banister is so pretty...I love furniture with detail...Everything is so pretty....and Madison is so little and so cute...
Your home is gorgeous, love love love it. Love that you're keeping it alive by giving it life and love. These are the homes I'd rather live in and tour rather than the new homes that have no character or life to them... not even color everything so white with grays, very dull homes. Your home on the other hand is a conversational piece in itself. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us.
Your home is stunning. Love all the unique pieces that you have incorporated into the decor. Madison is adorable. Thank you for sharing your home with us.
Hi Jen I’m new to your channel I love love your Victorian house. And I love what you have inside all antique from the 1895 thank you so much for sharing. you have a lovely home. Thank you for restoring history. God bless you and family🙏🏻❤️👍🏻👏🏻
Leticia Hernandez thank you so much! I have always loved historic homes. I enjoy attempting to keep it in its original condition as much as I can manage. Have a nice weekend😊
You've done a wonderful job ...on the furnishings , keeping things authentic ! I own several pieces from my family so I know the sentiments and why you showcased things ! How could you not ? An empty house is empty ! Good for you . And lucky you to have so many things that are original to your home ! A lovely experience to watch this 💖
Thank you so much. I am glad that you enjoyed this house tour. Everything is so meaningful to me as it captures a small glimpse of the family who once lived in our home over 100 years ago. Thanks for watching.
When I was a child my Great Great Aunt and my Great Grandmother had big Victorian mansions they inherited from their grandparents and they were so beautiful. I miss the huge houses is been 15 years since I've seen either of them. Lovely video.
Thank you so much. Those big Victorian mansions must have been so amazing especially through a childs eyes. I love it when my daughters friends come over. They have the best hide and seek games ever.
It’s so amazing to me how you have incorporated a few original pieces and even the photographs of the original owners of the house. That is so special to me ❤️
Wow! Your home is incredible! You have done a wonderful job of collecting and displaying all of your vintage pieces and furniture. Very precious that you have some original items and photos of the first family. You have a lovely home. 🌼💛🌼
Thank you so much. I truly love and appreciate this house. I feel very lucky to have not only acquired some of the original furnishings but to have also been able to find so much information on the history of the house and previous owners. TFW and have a great week!
Beautiful home! Can I suggest that with the wall that has the builders initials and date that you paint it into a square and put a glass frame over it? Or even just a transparent sheet of plexiglass with brass screws? You did a great job!
Wonderful historical home, with beautiful personal touches. I really love the hope chest. I have soo many things my past pets ruined, too, that I couldn't fix or get rid of. Incidentally, my parents had an old painting that scared me as a child, but I love it now!
When you stated stripping the white paint off all the beautiful wood, you sold me... Subscribed! And now, six minutes in, I had to pause and comment. Breathtaking!! ♡ I cannot wait to see the rest of your tour. Your home is magnificent!! I love how you appreciate the history on this beautiful Victorian home. Heartfelt congratulations on a magnificent renovation! ♡♡♡
Awesome video, love your beautiful home! I'd love to have a shower like yours! I especially love the Victorian theme, and all your antique furniture. Unlike some, I enjoyed hearing about your personal belongings as well. Looking forward to seeing more videos!
Thank you so much. I am glad that you enjoyed the house tour as well as the antiques within. I have always loved old homes and we work really hard to keep up with this one. Thank you for taking the time to watch my house tour.
Wow ,thanks for sharing ,your home is beautiful I can tell you love it ,it takes a lot of hard work to keep it so pretty .its so cute cause you have so many fancy antiquities but then your like here my Cookie Monster cookie jars .....so cute
You did a lovely job! Would suggest a couple of things, if I may . Encase the fish tank table and TV in wood encasements to keep the antique feel of the room . You should also think about starting a porcelain doll collection for your little daughter , would be lovely to display in her room as she gets older. Also , maybe consider framing (surrounding the original drawing) with the date of the house , it will give it more prominence , Just a little advice from one home decorator to another.🙂Again , You have done a fabulous job and everything looks superb!🥰
OMG, no wonder you have so much activity, there is a lot of energy that's held in the house being that you have all those original furnishings and personal items. They are very beautiful and the stained glass and wood is stunning. You are very brave to live there 😮
Oh please. Brave why? Brave to live in a real house as opposed to the toxic thrown together cardboard cracker boxes they make today? Yeah, sorry, I know... I'm being mean, but it is true. In the era this home was built, they knew how to build a quality home that would be a lifelong love between owner and house. If there were any sort of ghosts in this house, why would they be enraged and want to haunt? They lived in such a beautiful place. Chances are, they are going to have happy and fond memories of this home. And content ghosts don't haunt. :-)
I agree wholeheartedly with other commenters who said they were happy to see that you respect your beautiful home by not ruining it trying to make it look new. The beautiful woodwork is magnificent! Thank you for not painting it white, like so many do. It just kills me when I see that. If I had a dollar for every time I said “WOW” while watching this video, I’d be able to afford to my own Victorian home!! Everything is stunningly beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing it with us. If it were mine they’d have to blast me out with dynamite to get me to ever leave! I’d starve because I wouldn’t go to the store! 🤣🤣🤣
Now this is a REAL, beautiful home. I just came to this video after viewing luxury apartments in NYC that cost at least $14Million and they are so dead inside lol.
The wood of the house is so beautiful and warm, I'm sad that a previous owner thought it would look better in white. Your decorating is gorgeous as well
I really enjoyed Jen's house, I'm not into Victorian but she's very creative and she made the tour enjoyable. She's got a precious family I'm very blessed. And a great dog to🐕
Lovely home thank you for sharing! The formal living room is actually known as the parlor where guests would be entertained. The smaller parlor would have been for acquaintances who would leave their greeting card in a silver tray to be given to the owner. Use vaseline to grease the tracks on the pocket doors for an easy opening. We restored four Victorians as so many are being torn down in every city across America. Over 1,200 in Jackson, Michigan have been torn down and now just vacant lots take their place.
It is so sad to see old homes being torn down. I am so glad that this one is still standing strong. It is a big task keeping up an old home. Our biggest endeavor was needing to replace the entire slate roof. There was so much water damage. Thanks for the vaseline trick. I will give it a try!
Wow, love your house! I’m a big fan of old houses... I wish you would have showed us more of your front porch and the exterior of your house... I love wrap around porches... and all of the gingerbread on Victorian homes... I loved all of your fireplaces and stained glass windows. We have an old house that was built in 1921... we’ve lived here for over 20 years.....it’s a much simpler tall skinny Colonial style house with steep pitched roof... the original part of the house had 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom plus a covered front porch... A contractor who owned the home before us built a huge 3 story addition in 1995.. He added a 1 car garage and workshop... a first floor family room, laundry room and 1/2 bath.. and a second floor master suite... And he also added a large covered back porch - which I love... We have an old brick fireplace and a wooden double level mantle an$ we have a built in China cabinet.... they are both wood (not painted white) and so is our staircase... I like the warmth of the wood... but I’ve also been in many houses where I like all of the trim that’s been painted white.. I sort of go back and forth on the idea of painting the wood...the trim and doors are painted white upstairs, except in the added on master suite...
Thanks for inviting us in Jen. It is so nice to see someone who could appreciate natural wood and understand how it is more fitting for a Victorian home. Is there a video of the outside?
This house is breathtaking! I really wished I lived in a house like that! I am going to inherit my grandmother's house from the 1920s but it is falling apart
WOW! Love this beautiful home! I watch a lot of similar videos of renovated vintage homes, but yours is my favorite. You’re not afraid of color and the result is a warm, vibrant, inviting home that is so lovely. Thank you for this tour! P.S. I believe your daughter. If there was ever a portrait given to a conspiratorial wink now and then, it’s that one!
What a sweet family, she's a pretty Mommy to. I'm not in the Victorian but I enjoyed the tour she gave and they do have a nice house. I'm very impressed that she researched so much of the history of the house. I thought it was so cute her little one showing her trolls honor dresser. Threw me back a lot of years. There was one day when I was about 8 years old I was visiting my cousins in St Louis well actually Millstadt Illinois and she and I spent the whole day down in their basement making a troll Village. We had a blast. Still have a picture. Thank you for sharing your home. End o I thought the b u s t your mom gave you of the holy mother was beautiful.
I have a play list from Halloween called Jens Haunted Home ruclips.net/video/jT0paLLS-u0/видео.html Here I share some stories that include some of the history of the previous residents. I hope that you like them!
Lovely Home and Lovely Family 💕. The Story of Madison Being Scared of the Beautiful Woman With the Mysterious Eyes in the Picture Was Sooo Funny.😌 My Grandmother Had a Creepy Vintage Picture of My Deceased Aunt on Top of the Television When I Was Child. I Honestly Believed Her Eyes Were Watching Me Intensely! I Use to Lay That picture Down. When I Spent the Night at My Grandmother's House.😊
Some of those houses built in the 1890s still had gas lighting fixtures with the electric fixtures. Their chandeliers would have four branches; two gas and two electric originally. Today, the gas light branches would have been fitted with electric.
I really appreciate the respect you & your husband have given to your home's original state. Such history. Speaking of history...it would seem like you picked up some orbs @ about 3:29 and lost them @ about 3:42. They seem to have been hanging out around the organ & old record player. Dead music lover (s)? Enjoyed it. Thanks Jen.

The key is creating a garden landscape that reflects that Victorian era, perhaps a beautiful green house. People took time to enjoy everyday life and the little moments. It’s a great way to live.

feel exactly the same way - I AM Victorian and I swear I've lived in these houses before. hate when they are touched and redone.

LOL. I love Cookie monster. Somehow he fits in amongst all the Victorian decor. :) Thanks so much for watching!
Madison is adorable & so smart too!
It would be cool to see this decorated for Christmas.......Nice house
Thank you. I have done Christmas house tours too. Thanks for watching.
OMG, no wonder you have so much activity, there is a lot of energy that's held in the house being that you have all those original furnishings and personal items. They are very beautiful and the stained glass and wood is stunning. You are very brave to live there 😮
I did have to get brave over the years. I am really a scaredy cat. LOL.
Oh please.
Wendy Mathews lol! Thank you so much
Your house is absolutely gorgeous 😍and so intriguing the story of how you acquired the furniture.
Your home is beautiful Jen! Thanks for sharing:) I love all the details that keep the home so authentic to its time period! You did a great job! 💕
Thank you so much!
Suggestion have a small double door made to cover the unpainted area with the date. Then when you want to present it you open the doors
Now this is a REAL, beautiful home. I just came to this video after viewing luxury apartments in NYC that cost at least $14Million and they are so dead inside lol.
The wall with the sign and date would look wonderful with a empty large photo frame
All the stuff overwhelms the house.
The wood of the house is so beautiful and warm, I'm sad that a previous owner thought it would look better in white. Your decorating is gorgeous as well
Thank you so much!
I really enjoyed Jen's house, I'm not into Victorian but she's very creative and she made the tour enjoyable. She's got a precious family I'm very blessed. And a great dog to🐕
Martin Jennings You are very kind. Thank you for this thoughtful comment today.
1:03 that kid behind her scared me, I thought it was a ghost
Your home sounds beautiful. It is always so interesting to explore old homes. There is so much character!
You have a beautiful home!! I LOVE the wood in it. The only part I wouldn't like is cleaning it. Ha! Ha! Absolutely, gorgeous!!! Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you. The cleaning is a pain! I love it anyway. Thanks for watching.
Jens Happy Home Exactly! It's beautiful no matter what! I think Historical homes are gorgeous. And you have everything just beautiful!!

yerffej99 thank you! The windows are my favorite thing
You have a beautiful home! Thanks for sharing, I really enjoyed it ❤️
Thank you and thanks so much for watching. It has been quite an adventure owning a old home. :)
A random gay artist It is definitely a labor of love. If you can find enjoyment in the refurbishment process the reward will be worth it😊
your home is gorgeously stunning. goals!!
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for this incredibly kind comment. It truly means a lot :)
Your home is si beautiful and full of character.
Thank you so much. I do love old historic homes.
Wow! What a lovely house. Is that a wallpaper on your masters bedroom? I love it
Yes there is a lot of wallpaper in this house. Thanks for watching!

Here I share some stories that include some of the history of the previous residents. I hope that you like them!
You could put an empty frame around the 1895 date scribbled on the wall .
Absolutely beautiful home. I’m from Massachusetts, and live in an antique farm house. Envious you were able to snag this GORGEOUS home! Lucky duck! 👍🏻
LOL. I can relate to those types of pictures. Madison does not like that picture at all. Thank you so much for watching.
Some of those houses built in the 1890s still had gas lighting fixtures with the electric fixtures. Their chandeliers would have four branches; two gas and two electric originally. Today, the gas light branches would have been fitted with electric.
I have that same hope chest and my sister’s dog also chewed the bottom corner molding. It must be hard for dogs to resist. I still kept mine too.
I love your home!
Your house is gorgeous. You must have put a lot of time and thought into decorate the interior.
I really appreciate the respect you & your husband have given to your home's original state. Such history. Speaking of history...it would seem like you picked up some orbs @ about 3:29 and lost them @ about 3:42. They seem to have been hanging out around the organ & old record player.
Dead music lover (s)?
Enjoyed it. Thanks Jen.
Oh my. I will have to watch this and check out those orbs. Thanks for watching.
Love your walk in closet.
Marthina Rauhut thank you
You have done an amazing job at honoring the history of the home. Beautiful home!!
Thank you! I am fascinated by the history of old houses. I try to keep everything as true to period as I can. Thanks so much for watching.
