I cannot believe someone painted that beautiful trim white

The real steep stairs were servant stairs. The main rooms to the side as you come to the front door were parlors I think. Might be a sistern somewhere. Such a well made solid house.

Oh my gosh! Thank you for giving a tour of your beautiful Victorian home. I am a huge fan of older homes and the craftsmanship put into them. I love the wood but was a little disappointed that someone painted over the design on the wood framing. The wood flooring was sooo pretty! I also love brick. It’s truly an amazing home with beautiful scenery too.

That small room upstairs by the stairs to the attic is called a trunk room. Travel back then was a big deal. Clothing was packed in trunks and put on trains. They needed a space to store the trunks. Beautiful home.

What a cool house you have! My wife and I have been working on ours and documenting some of the progress with the occasional upload for the last three years, an 1888 Gothic/eclectic Victorian that by comparison is much smaller and simpler, with far less original detail intact than yours. The work really never ends, but the charm of all the details and having a chance to live in a piece of unique history and see it stay relevant/come back from being neglected is well worth it.
Each level of your house got more and more interesting. I like the connected rooms on the second floor, with the servant staircase access. The attic and tower rooms are a big draw for me, as well as the basement. Something about the potential of all of that spare square footage just makes it feel like you can do anything from home. If I ever "finish" my house, if one like this comes available I might be tempted to move across the country...
    Thanks for the tour!

I really enjoyed seeing your home. I don't normally like wallpaper, but I thought it was very attractive in your home. The house I grew up in had the rooms connecting like yours. I didn't really like ours either. We used the dining room as a 2nd bedroom because we had a large eat-in kitchen.

What a gorgeous home in an ideal location! It’s been so well loved too! I really love all the wallpaper, very nostalgic and pretty colours. Have you ever had any paranormal experiences there? Thanks for sharing your home, really fun! I used to homeschool too, your house is perfect! Love the basement area to make projects and sewing area! ❤

My home was built the same year, but unfortunately not kept up throughout the years. 1969, It was brought back to an idea of the original. They did well. Yes, your small steep stairs were for the help. The smell room on the second floor was for the help who would have lived there. In 1869, middle class people did not own homes like this. Thank you, it’s beautiful.
