I really like the character booklet idea, though I'm not a fan of it being so small. My eyes, and the rest of me, are old lol. I'm inspired to see what I can come up with with a few sheets of paper folded in half on the long edge.

I love this! Thank you for the tutorial and the printable! My son makes little comics with this method, but he puts work on both sides, so when you finish part a, you unfold it flip it and fold the opposite side of the paper into part b- i think he would do that with this and have one side be the character sheet and the other side for the spell book, that way it takes up half as much space in the altoids tin he's turning into a travel dnd set.

This is such a great idea! I always thought of making a mini spellbook, but character sheets into a booklet is something I never considered before. This would be great to personalize for players, and for DMs to maybe keep track of important NPCs.

I've been introducing my kids to playing, and this would be perfect for them. It is sometimes hard for them to find info on the character sheets, so this would be great to help them only focus on the "important" info they need at the time. I love the spell book too. I can easily put the basics of the spell for my 8yo can easily see it. This will make our sessions more focused on playing, and less on finding info and deciphering it.

Great stuff! This really is one of the eternal problems of ttrpg life. I've seen a lot of character sheet designs over the years, and I've even made some of my own, but it seems like there's no perfect or ideal solution. Some are definitely better than others, tho, and this is a really good idea, especially if you want something compact that doesn't waste lots of paper. And I def appreciate the free pdf. Also, maybe the word you're looking for is "booklet." (?)

I make mini games that use playing cards, dice and minis. Most times the rules are just printed out on a single sheet of paper. This fold-up 'zine format would be great to use for them. I don't know that I would use it for a character sheet since I like being able to see everything about my character at a glance. Page flipping a spell book would be fun though.

This is exactly what I was looking for, because my family is going through a bunch of stuff, my dad is remarrying, I've hardly met the woman he's marrying, and what I thought was that this game has connected me with people I started off complete strangers with and we bonded over the game. But my family also isn't really big into the stuff I'm into. So if I could make the game approachable, it could be a fun way to bond with the new family. It kinda sounds silly writing it down, but I'm trying and part of that is doing something about the sheets that even I don't like and feel more like a form to fill out than an easy way of conveying what your character is, especially to new players
My only issue is it's missing a few things, but I like your way of making the book
So I'll either use this and find some way of working around certain things being missing, or I'll design my own using this method.
