It is such a warm and lovely feeling to watch Xander learning from Nolan how to hammer and do things! You both are so good about letting him learn to do these things!

Xanders response about smushing/smearing/killing the bugs was such a boy reaction that I just had to laugh!!! The memories that you guys are making with him is just sooo priceless. Seeing Xanders excitement over camping out in a tent, and knowing the sugar cookie intake I thought: I wonder if either him or Nolan would get any sleep?!!!! I enjoy how you allow us to participate with your family even if it comes only by us being able to view through the lense of your camera. And that is fine with me. "But I'm not nice anymore!" Oh Xander, what a precious boy. Such innocence! We don't have lightning bugs where we are (pacific coast, BC) , so it was so neat to see them flying above your field! And fireworks are banned due to the dry conditions and risk of forest fire. So many goodies you shared this week with us, thank you!

@@theMennoniteMom We live just north of the Washington Border in British Columbia, so no Fourth of July fire displays here! But our Canada Day celebrations on July 1st did not allow for fireworks this year unfortunately. Thus I have been enjoying your shows immensely! Bugs too!

These are precious moments that Xander will remember when he is older. My baby, who is 12, is now my height. I'm 5'7".
All the times we do something special for our children, they will remember. And it makes childhood memories more fun. Make a fort with sheets and blankets and sleep in the living room... you have air conditioning that way😉.
It's always a blessing to watch your beautiful family.
We might have to try those bars. We consume a lot of protein bars. Either homemade or store bought. You are right- sometimes, when the protein is strong, it is barely edible.
I really liked the nut based ones. They were amazing IMO! Yes, you are right. It's the things we do with them that stick! A living room fort is a great idea!

I camped out in our back yard in a tent with my grandson. Everyone was was betting we wouldn’t make it all night lol. Our neighbor was so kind because they left their back porch light on so we’d have more light in our back yard in case we needed more light. It was so much fun and we made it ALL night! So there all you nay sayers lol

I am a preschool teacher always telling children not to squish bugs for fun. I use your exact statement “ how would you like it if a big giant came and squashed you?” I add “ let it go home to its family, or it wants to live. Thanks for the shot of the lightning bugs, living in California I never have seen any.

They did sleep through the night believe it or not! The dogs are farm dogs that sleep outside unless it's winter or rain. Then we let them in the house for the night (:

My husband cherished having boy's only nights with our son even the cat was not allowed. They shared an amazing bond, sadly their bond was broken as we lost him to cancer but my son holds their boys nights only dear to his heart.

I loved this, so perfect, memories made, never to be forgotten, the best memories ever! I love you sharing your little man’s journey, it brings back the love and joy of being a parent to a young child/children, something we never forget, and I love to indulge in, my babies, my memories 💚.
England has been having a week of 30 degrees plus, a rare treat, so my husband and I camped out in our dining room, on a blow up mattress, (coolest room in the house, no air conditioning, English homes don’t have it, we don’t get enough heat, so, french doors open and garden lights twinkling, aged 54 and 55, we camped out! Whilst stargazing, before settling down, the Internal Space Station glided over us, bright in the night sky, so cool! We did contemplate a few fireworks but we only had loud ones, so we thought best not! We did have sausages on sticks though, no Junk food, as we had run out!!! Who says you can’t fun when your kiddies leave home? And for the record, in true garden camping tradition we didn’t last the night, our bed was calling us! 😂.
