So nice to see you having Zander clean up his mess. I'm a teacher and I can always tell which parents do everything for their kids and the ones who have their kids clean up after themselves
Both my children studied from Abeka, Pensacola Christian, all through high school. When it came time to graduate we made the trip to Pensacola and watched as they walked across the stage to graduate & receive their diploma. No regrets.
Former Teacher aide here whose been in the Education system for over 20 years. I can happily say the Father led me and my child out of the school system last year and I am just loving teaching at home. My child is excelling in one on one learning and "real" life skills. As well as plenty of fresh air and outside time where neither of us are limited to an annoying bell lol! We also join in with quite a few like minded home-schooling groups with activities twice a wk and sometimes more! My child socialises with children his own age and all different ages. It is amazing to see the children learn through play naturally as we all meet up. Everyone's situation is different and there is good schools still out there. Thank you for this video it's truly heart warming. Be blessed. P.S. that desk is super cute!
I am a retired teacher and I am so glad you are getting Zander started with his schooling. He is so bright and curious. I love the desk and think it looks great where it is located. The curriculum looks really good and I like that it is so well scripted. You are a great Mom and you are looking wonderful.
Oh my, Burrito is precious! Then you have the puppies, and Xander is so gentle with them. The school desk is just beautiful and Xander looks so excited to start preschool. Thanks for sharing, it always makes my day. Hope you are feeling well!
So sweet seeing Zander sit at his desk. I teach pre-K and I use the Abeka curriculum. It's fabulous and points all lessons to God. My students love it!
Zander's smile can light up anyone's day!🥰 We use and used a mixture of different curricula...Abeka, BJU press, Masterbooks, The Good and the Beautiful (reading books). Next year, we might try Apologia Science. Th desk looks great!
@@TheNavybrat92 I have only tried their picture books and some reading books, they are informative, wholesome and have good illustrations. I have not tried any of TGATB's core subjects for it doesn't fit the learning style of my child. May God's guidance be with you on this.
Hey Janine , Zander I missed you guys last week , glad your back with this lovely video this week thanks for sharing , I love the mini Dachshunds so cute ,Zander is so good with them. 😀
The meat chopper is an amazing tool, it can be used to shred cooked chicken and mash up meat and more. You can actually find it at Target, Walmart, Dollar General and other places as well as online.
Xander is so good with the puppies! I'm the same as you with making meals for others! I get all nervous that they won't like my food, especially since we eat different than most people as well:-) Xanders desk is so nice, it reminds me of setting up our schoolroom more than 20 years ago for our two oldest children. We also had desks, and used A Beka for many years. Now I sit at a table with our four youngest, and use a variety of curriculum from TGATB, Teaching Textbooks, EvanMoor, All About Reading, and IEW! Have fun teaching preschool!
I think the desk looks perfect with that brown couch. As always, an enjoyable vlog to watch. The puppies are adorable! Something my children loved while learning pre school are patterns, matching and sets. You probably have some in your new learning books, but Dollar Tree especially has fun workbooks that are entertaining and great for teaching these forms. My guys would enjoy them like coloring books and a bonus as they were learning on top of it.
The school desk is perfect! What a neat find. My son is in kindergarten, we homeschool, & he too has a desk like that & it's just the cutest to see him work there. 🥰
What a sweet video, I really enjoyed Zander playing with the puppies, and trying to gather the eggs. Love the little desk you found for your son. He is so ready to learn, and glad you enjoy helping him with this journey. Faye (Ohio)
I also struggle with providing food for families like at the time of a funeral. While my family seems to love my meals, I always wonder if others will find it worthy. I try to get past myself because they have a need greater than my fears. But it’s hard sometimes not to go to a fast food chicken place and buy a meal. One thing that helps is that usually when I take food to a family reunion, I don’t bring much home. So someone must like my cooking.
Preschool for our children starts at 2 years 9 months through to when Year 1 starts at age four. When I teach children to write tall letters, we say "Down the fireman's pole". I have taught in a Christian school for 32 years. Black and brown desk fits perfectly.
My two nieces home school their children. (PA) We got them desk at yard sales. We needed 5 in all. We also got some for ourselves. Not that we needed them, but they were old and I like that. I don’t know what kind of books they use. Thanks for showing the animals. The puppies were so cute. Take care and God Bless.
Wow, you are one busy person. I love the desk where it is and it seems in such good shape. What a blessing that both you and his dad were teachers. Xander is such a happy child. Prayers for your family.
Now I want to go teach preK again! I used Abeka book when I homeschooled our two and then when I taught in our church's private school we used it there. My favorite grades to teach were always Kindergarten because it is so rewarding to teach a child to read...and fourth grade because their minds are still so eager to learn! You got a great deal on the school desk! It is beautiful.
Good for you! I always preferred the challenge of the upper grades and the younger ones simply bore me with the reputition. But I like your outlook, teaching them to read... that is exciting!
I loved this video. You are so soft spoken and kind and can tell you made & make a wonderful teacher. Thank you so much for sharing your life with us. Zander you are such a cute, sweet, mannerly young man. Bless you all

Thank you. I'm not sure what you are referring to about the schools, but it did break my heart the things that are going on right now and being taught to children... just in the last few years. I'm honored ti have you here and I'm sure you were an excellent teacher! 🙂
Thank you! In the schools, I was referring to things being taught these days, and the INCREASE in the negative and destructive student behavior over the past 5-7 years. It makes me happy to see a happy child when so many I've seen are not. ♥️

Hey, I have just recently found your channel and have quickly fallen in love with the channel and your family! I have a little girl that will be five in August and we have been doing the Abeka K4 this year! She loves the curriculum, work pages and is reading a few words now!! She is also so interested in sounding things out and trying to spell them herself! I know this video is 3 months old. I hope y’all have enjoyed Abeka as much as we have! We also LOVE the Bible Curriculum! My little girl can quote over 10 verses now just because of the curriculum. It amazes me how much they soak in their little brains. Anyways, keep up the amazing work you are doing with Xander! Can’t wait to see your precious baby girl too!
We use started out homeschooling using CLP, but currently in our 2nd year using masterbooks and really like the gentle approach. I enjoy food videos, and seeing the new food ideas, keep them coming!
It's a very nice desk. Where I live we just learn the letter sounds to learn reading. (We also have letter combinations that have a certain sound). Later on we learn the letter names. I use a lot of educational games to teach certain concepts like quantities, addition, letter sounds. Not to much workbooks. Sand, clay, beats,
Loved it! I can totally identify whith your struggle on cooking especially making food for other families and big groups,😯bless you for doing it for them!
A Becka books, that takes me back. We home schooled through our county's charter school and supplemented ( replaced) California's curriculum with A Becka. I also used Bob books. Fun little books for learning sounds and as first readers. I too am uncomfortable cooking for other people! I'd much rather be outside caring for the animals. Burrito is adorable but I don't have to deal with him. Do you know how donkeys came to have the sign of the cross on them? After Jesus rode the colt donkeys have the dark hair in the pattern of the cross. You are looking well and Xander is such a sweet heart. Thanks for sharing a day in your life.
I used ABEKA as well. I think it makes it alot more interesting when there's lots of color, and of course that's what ABECKA is and that's probably the biggest reason I used them.
I'm thrilled for you and your family with all the wonderful changes that are coming. I remember when my children were being home schooled and how excited they would get when their books would arrive especially the ones just starting school. Xander had that look, and it made me tear up as my memories reached back to my own children. I did use A Beka for years and found that to be the best for me and the children after having tried Bob Jones, Christian Liberty, ACE, etc. Every family has to find what is best for them. Enjoy your time being back in the "classroom". By the way, I love the desk! I used one very similar to yours when I was in elementary school back in the 50's. God bless you and your family, Jeanine.
Miss the Amish and Mennonite community in PA. Used to live in Snyder County and we were friends to many of them. Now we live in New England in NH. I do have family in Mifflin County PA, and there's lots of Mennonites in that area as well.
We used ABeka video curriculum for our kids are are now in their late 40's. I was helping a friend get started with it for her kindergardner and was shocked to see that they start out teaching cursive and not printing. I didn't believe her almost at first but sure enough, that is what they do. I'm still not sure I understand it though. We really loved the video classes and did other things on the side (workbooks and other books). Xander is so smart he will be reading in no time! Great video.
@@theMennoniteMom Yes I did see that....but since my friend was using the video class, that is how they do it. I still can't wrap my Grandma mind around it lol.
I look forward to Friday mornings cuz your video will be up missed you last week love your little family looking forward to seeing the new baby do you have names
Xander made my heart so happy when he showed you his skipping rock. He puts a huge smile on my face. Xander always looks so happy and well behaved. Thank you for sharing your family with us. Cooking didn't bother me. What did was any time that I had to address the congregation or meet new people. I am shy and have a very soft voice. People always ask me to speak up. It has taken me many years to overcome this. I can do it but I have panic attacks at times.
Thank goodness! Phonics! Many school teach sight reading now and I don't think a child recognizing a word is enough. They need to learn what the letters sound like to really learn how to read.
Hi Janine, I love your videos. Zander is a very intelligent, and sweet little guy. The desk you bought Zander was a great find. Making a space, and having the desk setup will make school important for Zander.
ABeka is a very good curriculum! I used it to teach kindergarten and first grade in our christian school for 33 years till we closed our school. Now I am using it to homeschool my niece's 3 children. You'll find it pretty easy to use.
ABeka is a great curriculum!! All of our children used it in private Christian School and our grandchildren now use it for Home School. I love Xander’s desk!
We homeschooled our last 2 daughters, one was in 2nd grade and the other was in kindergarten. The youngest wasn't adjusting to school life very well, there was a mean kindergarten teacher and her practices was negative reinforcement which scared our Sarah. I took them both out for good measure and started Sarah, our kindergartener with a book called "Teach your Child to read in 100 Easy lessons" It is fantastic and she learned to read simple books within a couple of months. We taught the girls for 8 years.....the best time of our lives. My husband is a research scientist, Ph.D and had a science congress in Quebec, Canada one spring, we all packed up our popup camper, books, and headed off for the most wonderful two weeks trip. The girls never stopped their lessons and we got to see so much of the East Coast.
Just a something I thought of, the sell thicker pencils that are much easier for little ones to grasp and write with. They are commonly called “beginners pencils”.
That was the Sweetest video!! Xander was SO cute doing his lesson! I love that cute little desk! What a Find for $25! I think it looks great sitting near your desk! Love your videos, Janine! ❤
We have eight children and have been home schooling for 18 yrs. This year we are down to our final two children. We are using Christian Light Education ( CLE ) . Home schooling has been a sacrifice and an even bigger blessing.
I used to have a real phobia in cooking for others. I have come a long way, but it still acts up every now and then. It was interesting to watch Xander and your way of teaching. We're currently using the CLE Curriculum. I think Burrito is the most interesting animal on the farm.
ABEKA was great, especially for the 1st year going into homeschooling😃👍🏼 Love Zanders enthusiasm ❤️. Would love for you to give more thoughts on the glasses after having them a bit, as well as just the process of picking out, ordering and the receiving. How was your experience. Thank you in advance-:)
Great video! Zander will do well adjusting to preschool because of how you are showing him what to expect, I love your idea about doing that. I am like you about cooking for others...I get so nervous and I really don’t like it. I think I’m a pretty good cook but when it comes to cooking for others...I doubt everything that I make will turn out alright, I usually over think it all. I envy those who make it look so easy. Thanks for another great video!
We used some ABeka especially the blue backed speller. Recommend the Bob books to help with blending when learning to read ( putting letter sounds together). We had to hide them from my daughter so she would actually read them instead of reciting from memory. And, lots of good literature. A good list in Landscape with Dragons. We had a lot at our local library, but thats probly changed😢.
I definitely relate to being uncomfortable cooking for other people. Since it’s not your gifting, hopefully you won’t be put in charge of the food at your church. You have inspired me to sign up on the meal list at church even though it is intimidating to me. Twenty years ago I used Sing Spell Read and Write to teach my son letters and sounds and to read. It was perfect for him because it’s filled with songs and activities for my busy boy.
I got my meat chopper at Walmart. I use it when browning ground beef and also sausage. In several of my cookbooks from different churches they have quantities listed for cooking for 25 or 50 people. If more than 50 you would just double the amounts listed. Love that you have Zander helping to clean up as it will be so helpful when the baby comes. Thanks for the video. Have missed you.
Oh, my gosh that fabric store has been on my mind lately. I haven't been there in 13 years and was wondering if they were still there. Since Joann Fabrics left town, I don't know where to go.

Thanks!
Beautiful desk. What a sweet teacher you are!
I love watching your interactions with Zander. He is such a sweet smart boy and you are a good Mommy.
I love regular school! I agree with your feelings for school. Zander is a really smart young man! Thank you for sharing your channel!
Loved this video. Zander is one blessed child to have you two ad parents🙏🏼
I'm in love with that school desk
It's a very nice desk. Where I live we just learn the letter sounds to learn reading. (We also have letter combinations that have a certain sound). Later on we learn the letter names. I use a lot of educational games to teach certain concepts like quantities, addition, letter sounds. Not to much workbooks. Sand, clay, beats,
Painting, cuttting etc. to practice fine motor skills. Those bible picture books look amazing! Good luck homeschooling!
Your child....he is amazing and your such a good Mom-loved the video.
Loved it! I can totally identify whith your struggle on cooking especially making food for other families and big groups,😯bless you for doing it for them!
Yay! I fellow struggle mate 🤣
I've heard that story! 😀 that's great you enjoyed Abeka as well!
Thanks for sharing! I know... nothing quite like the excitement that comes with new books!
I think the cursive is an option. When I ordered you picked between cursive and manuscript. Ours is manuscript
There is a manuscript option for the videos, we are doing it for 4k this year and will do it for 5k next year. 1st we will start cursive!
@@theMennoniteMom Yes I did see that....but since my friend was using the video class, that is how they do it. I still can't wrap my Grandma mind around it lol.
I think getting Zander ready for school is a great plan. I love your description of capital I and lower case I!
It was in the book! I can't take credit lol
I look forward to Friday mornings cuz your video will be up missed you last week love your little family looking forward to seeing the new baby do you have names
Thanks so much! No serious names yet (:
Xander made my heart so happy when he showed you his skipping rock. He puts a huge smile on my face. Xander always looks so happy and well behaved. Thank you for sharing your family with us.
Cooking didn't bother me. What did was any time that I had to address the congregation or meet new people. I am shy and have a very soft voice. People always ask me to speak up. It has taken me many years to overcome this. I can do it but I have panic attacks at times.
I love how people are so different it makes the world so interesting!
Oh my gosh! Thank you so much for following up on the “meat chopper”!
Now I know what to look for. Thank you!
You're welcome!
This brings back so many memories of homeschooling our boys who have now all grown up and flown the nest. We used Abeka as well and some CLE.
Time flies! Good for you for homeschooling!
What a team you and Xander are, so cute! Stay well!
Thank you!
So wonderful of you to share your animals, Zander's beginning school, your meal prep. You are looking great and hope you feel the same..........cheers
Thank you!
Boys and puppies go together so well. Our boys are loving our Golden Retriever puppies right now!
Yes they do! That's wonderful!
Xander is the sweetest boy!!
Thanks for sharing.
ABeka is a great curriculum!! All of our children used it in private Christian School and our grandchildren now use it for Home School. I love Xander’s desk!
I have always used A Beka and LOVE it!!
Good to hear!
Xander, you did great with your lessons! Keep up the great work!!!
So happy for you! That was a good choice. You saw what your daughter needed and took her out.
Zander is sooo cute! Love the desk
Just a something I thought of, the sell thicker pencils that are much easier for little ones to grasp and write with. They are commonly called “beginners pencils”.
Great idea! Thanks!
That was the Sweetest video!! Xander was SO cute doing his lesson! I love that cute little desk! What a Find for $25! I think it looks great sitting near your desk! Love your videos, Janine! ❤
Thank you!
Zander makes me smile. He is a darling and so kind. Nice job mom! Take care and be blessed!
Thank you!
This was such a lovely video, you are an amazing Mom, Xander is so adorable and his school desk is perfect. Blessings to you all 🙏🙏🙏🥰🥰
Thanks and same to you!
We have eight children and have been home schooling for 18 yrs. This year we are down to our final two children. We are using Christian Light Education ( CLE ) . Home schooling has been a sacrifice and an even bigger blessing.
We use Abeka! Love it so much!! Totally worth the cost!
Dachshund!!! I want one of those dogs sooo bad! Sooo expensive around our area! Looks like you two have a fun day!
Yes they are adorable!
Love the "day in the life" vlogs😊
Thank you! Good to know!
I used to have a real phobia in cooking for others. I have come a long way, but it still acts up every now and then. It was interesting to watch Xander and your way of teaching. We're currently using the CLE Curriculum. I think Burrito is the most interesting animal on the farm.
I think it comes easier with practice... and forcing yourself to do it (:
You are so awesome with Zander!!!!
ABEKA was great, especially for the 1st year going into homeschooling😃👍🏼
Love Zanders enthusiasm ❤️. Would love for you to give more thoughts on the glasses after having them a bit, as well as just the process of picking out, ordering and the receiving. How was your experience. Thank you in advance-:)
We use Becca when I taught preschool I love it
Good to know!
Yes! Overthink is the word! I hear you!
I'm Def learning about more curriculums! Thank you
I definitely relate to being uncomfortable cooking for other people.
Thanks for sharing! I may have to check that out!
That would be a great cookbook to have! I need one like that! I feel I'm always guessing!
Zander is so cute with the Puppies, and the puppies were adorable. Janine you and your Husband are doing a great Job with your Children.
Thank you! We love in PA btw
Those are the best tools from pampered chef ! I have one & someone always asks about them.
The dachshund puppies were just too cute! Great video!
Awe I love Xander's little school desk how cute and so grown up xXx
Great video! It was fun to see Xander excited about his new desk.
Oh, my gosh that fabric store has been on my mind lately. I haven't been there in 13 years and was wondering if they were still there. Since Joann Fabrics left town, I don't know where to go.
They are!
