The mess kits we had in the Army were stainless steel. I imagine this one is too. You're also missing the knife, fork and spoon that are part of the mess kit.
Be sure to have one of those green scouring pads to clean it with after you use it. Also, if you are going to cook in the frying pan, use some oil and don't put the pan in a roaring fire, the heat will distort it and whatever you cook will stick to the pan almost as if it has been glued to it.
I think if you apply a magnet to your mess kit you will find that it is stainless steel. A magnet will not stick to aluminium. As others have said , if frying use plenty of oil/fat and cook over a low heat, or embers. Happy Trails !
Neat! Love the integrated pieces, Any idea if this was part of their mess hall kit or a part of their field kit? DUHHHH, I FORGOT I READ IT IN THE TITLE 😂😂😂
Your volume is too low bud, I need a dog sound over when you edit the video or get yourself a better microphone maybe your wireless one that goes on your lapel with a transmitter on your belt like a preacher wears? I'm interested in hearing what you have to say but that's just it I've got to be able to hear it.
Good video. I tried to cook breakfast in mine years ago. Those eggs stuck so bad I had to use sand to scrub it clean lol.
@@RandallsLittleAdventures 😂
Haha...Natures Brillo pad
I had a feeling it would not be a good idea to cook in it.
Have a similar set myself
They are very nice, it should last you a very long time.
These are very cool! Actually sold a couple sets at s yard sale recently. Still have one or two.
I like them, very old school but work very well.

Not designed for cooking.
@@timmatherly5080 Well, that may very well be so. But many of us had nothing else to use for cooking, so we made do with what we had.
@@thomas-i5o7h if I have to cook in it. I will do that , thank you

I will get an upgrade as soon as I am able. Thanks for letting me know there is an issue there.
