I stripped mine and redid the handle and gave it a mustard patina. It looks real good now. I definitely appreciate this little chopper. I've had many leatherman tools over the years. I stopped buying them after the crunch. The bits are so soft I don't believe they were hardened. Personally I like a Victorianox huntsman and a kipnex plyers. But recently I bought a bibury 19-1 for under $30. I'm very impressed. Essentially the bit driver. I use wiha bits they are the best I've found. My opinion is probably different than many because I'm a mechanic so tools are something I've used to earn a living not just show off on video. Estwing tools are nearly indestructible. Perfect for any zombie apocalypse. I wonder what jobs the Rigger's axe was first designed for? Great video and insight. Now you got me wondering, but I'm going to say I'm a newbie when it comes to bushcraft, survival and prepping. It's a subject that has caught my interest for years, reaching back to when I was like 8 years old, but only in the last 4 years or so I managed to start taking it more seriously. I can probably manage the basics (starting a fire, building a shelter, disinfecting water), but even if I was some seasoned veteran, I would still consider myself a student of these arts, since, as you perfectly expressed it, we never stop learning. Also, our experiences, our opinions, our surroundings and the people we interact with is what shapes us, so, you never know who is going to teach you an important life lesson. Again, thanks for the video, it got me all introspective. Have a blessed week start. 🙏🏻

A bit of criticism, but I'm not trying to be rude, I hope this helps. I did see that your shavings went out after lighting with the Bic, but I don't think it was too moist. I would help to spend a few more minutes processing additional tinder of smaller size and fibere shapes such as scrapings, and ruffed up grass, etc.. That being said, if you thought the tinder was too moist... your Ultimate Survival Technologies Strikeforce ferro rod has a storage compartment for Tinderquick tabs. You should carry a few (or Fireplugs) in there for this situation. I'm no expert, but I'd also suggest your technique needs a bit of tweaking. Either the blade or the scraper should be firmly planted against the tinder to get better aim and maximum heat transfer to the tinder. If you want to pull the rod, then hold the scraper/blade firmly against the edge of your tinder. If you want to move the scraper/blade down against the tinder, then put the tip of your rod firmly against the wood right up next to the tinder. Either method will transfer more focused heat into the tinder. Thanks for sharing about the Tramontina. I've not had a machete, so I think I may try one out. Take care

@@Robertssurvivalsystems Thank you. I forgot to mention something in the technique I mentioned. if you pin the rod down next to your tinder, it works better if you make a couple of rapid strikes with the striker so it showers the tinder in quick succession.
