- The first in a series of three exclusive Fast Bikes videos documenting a unique build, from standard Yamaha YZF-R7 to a race bike set to compete in this year’s Isle of Man TT, with Michael Rutter onboard for Bathams Racing. These videos compliment the serialisation of this ambitious project in Fast Bikes Magazine with journalist John McAvoy following each and every stage, from the purchase to the podium…..?

The reason this class was introduced was for beginners and privateers could compete with professional teams on a level playing field. Now it’s gone full factory and the only ones we’ll see on the podium will be people who have 40 grand bikes. Lee Johnson is doing something similar with an aprillia.
this is unfortunatley what happens with almost every single "Budget" type class that is introduced, it starts off as a beginer freindly, cost effective class. then it just gets steamrolled by those with deep pockets, making those with less of a budget completly out classed and uncompetetive.
As long as something can be bought there will be people shouting: *_Shut up and take my money!_*
they never tell the real TRUTH....
this class was launched because it was cheaper to make these bikes and hence fund projects with real money from real people who will finally buy these bikes in real, unlike the expensive ones....
Agree. But must not forget the nature of people is to choose racing class to be closest to bankruptcy 😅
@@whitemarmitethey should be rock solid on the engine side and suspension side of things make those are generally the most expensive bit of the bike
Rutter is one cool dude. Old school
So basically your keeping the frame 😂
😂
you have too.. great engine but shit frame.. yamaha really missed the boat
@@Errol.C-nzNot when you consider the price fgs 😂
that's a shame.... isn't it....😂😂
Looking forward to touching/inspecting this li'l beauty. Wish you the very best Michael AND team.
Great bike, cool project. Keep the content on this bike coming!!
It’s not really an R7 anymore is it?
More power less weight = great power to weight ratio and fast fun.
Looking forward to seeing the end product looks like a mega build job
Cool project, will be following with interest, hope it all goes more or less to plan and that Michael has a successful TT with this bike
Wow!!! Nice one! I am looking forward to the series on this build. Would be awesome to put it up against a Aprilia 'track' RS660 too
Kev Stephenson at Rev2Race has built 2 of these, both racing in No Limits, currently upto 99.5rwhp on the second engine variation with much more to come.
Looking forward to this, does the nw200 share the same rules and regs as TT for supertwins or no?
PART 2?!!??!??! its been 3 weeks comeon!! the TT is about to start
Awesome content!! Full TT race bike build, but god damn that Chassis looks soooo thin and cheap! (in comp with R6s)
on the money there.. great engine but shit frame
Excited to see this done. AND, why you chose this over the Aprilia...
9:39 he explains why here… tribute to his Dad who rode Yamahas in the TT in the 70s
@@CrouchyOnBikes sad reason.. the R7 frames crap
The Regs allow 11000rpm? Wow I'm going to build a racer out of my old CX650!!!
Don't understand why you picked the R7 and not the Aprilia 660 it's already at 100bhp???
why is the tank black during the built but on the before shots it s a blue bike?
Stock R7's come equipped with slipper clutches already.
Its gonna be tough to hit 100HP without blowing that thing up. Good luck!! I want to be wrong! Would give me hope against all the RS660s out there with modded connector rods to handle it.
100hp is easy to achieve with this engine.
Twins Cup R7s have 100hp I believe
Is this class including the new Honda Hornet and Suzuki 750 twins, they start out with 20hp extra without any work being done on them.
Lol name of video should be building a isle of man race bike... ultimately changed everything on it
I've not come across a race team to date that ever mentions checking alignment of the rear wheel to the frame centre-line. Aligning rear wheel to front wheel is not the same and pretty much pointless.
Several thousand feet above sea level! Really?
"Its elevation goes from near sea-level to 1,300 feet (400 m)."
I think you're better off racing a, RZ-350. Put a dry- plate racing clutch on it. A 'Cub' motor,(425cc/100 HP.)
Reliable horsepower. Ect.
Ok, so I am a two-strokeaholic, but it doesn't matter, pre-mix is the way. 👍
I tuned in thinking this was a real R-7. Are you going to rephrase the engine? What about ceramic wheel bearings, in those Dy-mags?
I would love to see you guys kick ass!! Got my attention.
(50 years of riding, & racing)
Nice an R7 that coust more than a stock panigali V4... why...
I think it’s called RACING. Questions like “why” don’t apply here.
The real speed costs money, you could spend ungodly ridiculous money even on a R7. Interesting to see when/if R9 will come out. I don't think it's going to run faster lap times than the R6 on comparable tracks. I love yamaha but don't know why they keep putting absolute 💩 brakes on their bikes🤔
Buy some proper Mt 09 sp and put on it some fairings and clipons and that's all.😊
Does the word ”supertwin” have a meaning to you? 😉
@@HeyAddieImTojo i don't know the TT racing regulation, regulation
@@alexma995 they literally mention supertwin cup in the video and you think a 3-cyl engine is eligible? No need to know the regulations to figure that one out 😅
@@HeyAddieImTojo sorry about tha't
Lol tons of bucks on 100hp twin. This is why twins suck stock 600 four has 130hp.
But the class they are competing in is not 600 supersport so..
@@HeyAddieImTojo i know they are in low power boys class. The men ride 250hp.liter bikes at tt.
@@rt2255 What bike do you ride at the tt?
Too much yappin’ goin on. Show us the build.

Thats an old race guy term haha
