- The Game Awards just aired and Baldur's Gate 3 won game of the year! Starfield wasn't even nominated! Did it deserve to be snubbed? Should it have been at least nominated? Or was Starfield actually just bad? We'll be discussing Game of The Year shows in general and what games caught my attention in the last year from Baldur's Gate to Star Wars to Cities Skylines 2 to more!

Classic Kou. Loved your little avatar on the stage. Your edited vids are so good.
What software is used to create that avatar? It is so cool.
Honestly, Starfield didn't even deserve to be nominated for anything. Especially best RPG.
There's not a single aspect of the game that is GOTY worthy, let alone nomination worthy.
I love Bethesda, I enjoyed Starfield mostly, BUT NO, ABSOLUTELY NOT (pains me to say that).
Baby Penguin thinks Starfield smells of rotten fish
Baby Penguin HATE Howard Hooman ;-;
😹🤣😹
"I also haven't finished that game either..." Koubitz 2023
😹🤣😹 sooo cruel 😹🤣😹
Starfield is jus bad. Todd failed in this one really hard. Todd and Bethesda is outdated. Starfield would been a good game ten years ago.
Twenty years ago...
At this point I don't even think Toddert is to blame anymore. Emelio Paggles is the bigger issue imo, being responsible for the shitty parts of Fallout 4 & 76, especially now that Will Shen has left
@@username1660 Toddert made me 😂 You are right. Things went downhill from Fallout 4. I think Fallout 4 is much better space game than Starfield 😂
@@DrLowHouseat they have aliens.....
I don’t think it’s necessarily bad but just undercooked, he took it out way too early and was extremely rough but the base concept was fun
Watch the Starfail fannoys come out and defend their loading screen disguised as a game lol
No it didn’t. Sheet size / scope isn’t enough to become GOTY. It seems Bethesda forgot that.
I love Starfield and have almost 1,300 hours in it but at no time have I ever thought it was a
contender for GOTY.
you love a buggy game thats no where close to what was promised. and is also filled with loading screens
@@marushall263 All games have bugs, all marketing is bullshit, and if you ACTUALLY COUNT the loading screens the typical fetch quest in Skyrim, Fallout 4, OR Starfield has 14 of them.
What I love is a game that lets me bound across moons at 1/10 standard gravity and snipe people in midair. That's fucking AWESOME, and if you got your knickers in a twist over loading screens and fast travel you just hate fun.
@@cdarklock My brother in Christ, play fck Titanfall then. Starfield is a game where they removed everything that made Bethesda bearable.
You can have fun with the game and enjoy it but Starfield is like close to objectively a terrible game. Worse, its a bad boring not a bad funny kinda way. Legit Golum this year had a better "focus" than whatever the fuck starfield did
@@theslavicrat3784 Titanfall is an online PvP shooter, which is pretty much the exact opposite of a single-player open world RPG, so it is not surprising you DON'T like Starfield... but you'd have to be a fucking moron to think anyone who DOES would prefer Titanfall.
Also, mech games are ABSOLUTE DOGSHIT
I'm with ya brotha. I started Starfield late because I was knee-deep in Phantom Liberty and Baldur's Gate 3 but here I am 154 hours in and I'm having fun. It has jank, of course, it does, the writing is in need of an update and yeah loading screens but I have the game on an NVME drive so the loading is on average 2-5 seconds tops. I hope they deliver on the improvements so it'll be more fun but I'm enjoying it all the same.
Starfield is an okay looter shooter. Fun pew pew, build ships, level up a bit and that's it. Finished it in ~95 hours, got to NG+ and I'm so done with it. I honestly had way more fun with a lot of other games that I've played this year (Battle Brothers, Pokemon Scarlet, Against the Storm, heck - even some Minecraft modpacks).
BG3 though I'm on my 5th playthrough (been trying different things and choices), finally near the end with 180 hours on just my latest attempt and planning on another one after I finish. It feels monumental, different - deep and fleshed out enough for another level of immersion that other games just couldn't provide, akin to some of the greatest games of the past like the original Fallout games, or some Final Fantasy titles to name a few. That is what makes it GOTY.
Starfield sucked. Everything about the game was boring and stale. They did the bare minimum when they made this game and no the game didn't deserve to be nominated let alone win GOTY.
You roasting League of Legends was the cherry on top ahahah definitely accurate
No, no it doesn’t.
3000 IQ mic drop ending
😹🤣😹🐰☀️
I was a huge Bethesda fan…then I played baldurs gate 3 and I realized I was just really dumb and didn’t have a better frame of reference for what a good rpg actually is.
I think you should give Cities Skylines 2 another 6 month of bug fixing, release of modding tools and regio packs before reviewing it.
I have enjoyed Cities: Skylines despite its various problems and Paradox's obsession with DLC spam. The launch of Cities: Skylines 2 looked really rough, and it looks like it requires a supercomputer to run, as if Cities: Skylines wasn't already bad enough in that regard. I'll wait. Hopefully, bugs and performance will be fixed. If so, then I'll have to see how the DLC spam situation works out. I'm generally reluctant to get into Paradox games because of this. I don't like having to dig through loads of small DLCs to try to figure out which ones offer a good value. I prefer games to have a small number of big, meaty ones.
Read the title, let's answer the question first: hahahaha, no😂
Now let's watch the video 😊
The only question I have is... have you actually finished a single game this year?
I would rather watch paint dry than put another second of my life into loading screen simulator.
@@270eman You mean Starfied? Im not talking specifically about that game, but in general.
Crusader Kings is my most played game since it released. Whenever I go through a gaming drought it’s what I always go back to. I love games that the experience can change no matter how many times you played it. I am currently playing BG3 and I have started over like 7 times and each time I learn something new and be like what if I try this choice next time. I think Starfield suffered from being too familiar.
Starfield was just trash, vast but shallow, story was the worse kind of lazy.
Starfield is just rehashed Fallout crap and worthless dialogue. Empty space and VERY little real game theme/ meaning. It was just a bunch of small fetch quests. Worthless...
"ask me in 6th months when the mod scene is popping" 6 months later modders don't care... Why make mods for a game you don't find fun to begin with?
What is the software used to create the talking cartoon avatar used in some of Koubitz' videos? I would like to purchase it for my channel (different looking avatar, of course). Thanks. Great videos. Thanks
Starfield? A bit of a 7/10 experience.
Same as that Harry Potter Game. Remember that game. Right... not bad just.. you know 7/10. In the end, these 7/10 games just exist.
BG3 though, that is a very different story!
if you gave starfield a 7 out of 10 then your opinion doesent count. and harry potter was actually liked my a majority of players. meanwhile starfield the minority of players like it. also bg3 isnt perfect. has bugs. companions ai goes stupid and forgets how to jump alot of time. also starfield isnt at all what it promised.
Holy shit if Starfield is a 7/10 than literally the good 90% of video games are a fck 10/10
I wouldn't have expected anything else from Corpos
I generally had fun with Starfield, did a lot of side quests some exploring and finished the story but there's nothing much there to keep me playing. I'll definitely jump back in after some updates and quality life improvements.
TOTK was just super mario maker for breath of the wild
I'm in the I don't give a flying monkey about game awards camp. I don't have a Switch because Nintendo doesn't have enough games that I want for me to even own that platform.
Cyberpunk renewed my energy for games. Phantom Liberty hit so hard in the feels and was fun to play that it drained off some of my cranky old man energy and BG3 helped with that too.
Bethesda is going to lose veterans over the years… if they want to return to glory they need to admit their mistakes and optimize their damn game engine.
I keep jumping between games, because I've been getting bored. I even went back to league of legends after 3 years, and then stopped playing it again
Stinky Bodd Toward trying to make us love Andreja… luckily Starfield was a nice forgettable game and #Dogemeat will always be our forever sweetheart❤🐶🐰❤️
ToTK was nominated over Starfield because it was a better game that left more of a cultural impact. All anyone could talk about for a month after release was the crazy shit people were making to torture Koroks. The most culturally significant thing to come out of Starfield was spamming HeelvsBabyface's cringe pronoun Freakout, and then I didn't hear anything about it outside of long-form reviews. I think there's a neat discussion to be had about how TotK basically made an existing game I own obsolete (I gave my copy of BotW to my mom) but to say it was "DLC" for BotW is garbage. The game's implementation of verticality is absolutely insane. It's probably got the only construction tools I can stand to use in a game short of Space Engineers. It even has rudimentary weapon crafting that was really naturally implemented into the game's weapon system. A lot of these answer critiques that people had with BotW, but even in answering that critique, TotK made genre-defining strides. So no, TotK isn't just a fresh coat of paint over BotW.
I haven't played Starfield, but from the looks of it, it just seems to be Fallout 4, but more. And I already thought Fallout 4 was a weak title. Can you really say Starfield does something no other game is doing? TotK is, it's implementing systems that people are going to be measuring every future game they play up to, and that's why it was nominated for GotY.
The Dorito Pope has the authority. Sorry omae.
I’m a big final fantasy guy but I thought that final fantasy 16 was sooo boring. And I also haven’t finished starfield even though I really like it. And omg teen kou appearance 🤯
That games sucks. Its a steamy pile of garbage thats how. Bethesda is releasing PS3 quality games that haven't advanced since Oblivion released in 2006.
Starfield, being so much like No Man’s Sky Lite, also has a road ahead much like it if Bethesda are willing.
They just need to admit their mistakes, and get to rebuilding!
name one of their live service games they ahve actually fixed. modders fix their games. and guess what modders arent modding starfield. and theyll never admit their mistakes. thats prove by the dev respnses on steam
That's never going to happen, they will go bankrupt before they fix their shitty attitude
yes kou kou kachoo rotfl...
of course not.Todd and Pags blew it.
Why don't you review and play distance? Its like trackmania + portal + mirror's edge combined. Portal because it has a lotta portal use for shortcuts, secrets, etc. Mirror's edge cause you gotta do car parkour. And trackmania cause its got some good amount of speedrunning.
And thats me not even covering the game's custom maps.
starfield is an ok game. but that‘s it, it‘s just ok. there are some good things in there and some bad.
but this is the same year bg3 was released. and bg3 100% deserved the award, it‘s so good! it‘s well-written, well-acted and just fun! i haven‘t played such a good game in years, and it‘s the first time i‘ve seen such a well-written game that isn‘t from a small indie developer
Bethesda games became Steven Segal movies. Same movie you saw before just less exciting and made with less effort
I don't think it was a bad game but the Story sucks, a lot. I mostly want to drop all the companions off in orbit without suits.
My two cents. If I was making a "NASA punk" game. No magic at all. At all. Not even a little, so no starborn. Big archeological slant to finding ancient alien artifacts and those that steal them. A main quest line that can be easily twisted into a buddy cop story if you join the UC.
Proper farms and greenhouse. Buggy for getting around the surface of worlds, or tameable animals so you can ride around the surface on a herding trumpet giraffe.
The option to offend that church so they fail at casting spells at you In a funny way.
Or not "NASA punk" space sorcerers and alien demons, undead cyborgs, midaswell go all in on the magic.
The problem is that who even plays all of these games every year? There are very very few people around to even make a reasonable judgement as to what was the best game of the current year. Speaking of ToTK, I've been playing that recently. I absolutely agree $70 is too much, but I got it with that voucher program so only effectively paid $60 for it. Beyond the price I'd say my biggest criticism of it is the terrible UI/UX as well as it took a really long time for me to get into the game. Right now (other than the horrible UI) I think this game is way Way WAY beyond just "DLC" for BOTW.
The world is more than twice as big, there's more than twice as many enemies, the puzzles are a lot better, the world is a lot more fun to explore, and other than the absolute garbage tier UI I feel like it is a genuine sequel to BOTW (that's also kinda not a direct sequel because the story still isn't great and doesn't make a bunch of sense if you think about it for 2 seconds, but it's still way better than BOTW's rubbish story.) That said, virtually no Zelda is a genuine sequel. Maybe at best there's some "side-quils", and don't @ me about that timeline nonsense.
But anyway, back to the topic at hand, about half of these games are so long and a couple of them are so new, that I doubt anybody has actually played them all to have a reasonable formed opinion about what is the best. This is just a sensation that Geoff K. has been able to cook up to get people to voluntarily watch ads. Props to him for pulling it off, but I really don't think he cares about delivering a fair result here. He just wants people to tune in, sell ads, and get Sempai Kojima to notice him.
WeeWooWeeWoo, Breaking: Fake gamer doesn’t like current games!
I personally voted for the RE4 Remake even though I knew BG3 was going to win. It was GOATED game back then and it’s a GOATED game now.
Also, starfield is just ass (:
starfield didn't deserve to be nominated
Starfield wasn't even the best game in the month it came out.
yeah I enjoy Starfield, but GOTY no.......But I feel Hogwarts Legacy should of at least been nominated.
"Tears of the kingdom doesn't deserved to be on this list " TOTK is a dlc " ..... unsubscribe, dislike, block.
Triggered much? Lol
StarField is by far the worst Bethesda game ever... well at least until TES6 comes out some day.
Tbh, Bethesda has been more of a "Game Engine Studio" than a "Game Studio" lol (still buying TES6 no matter what tho)
Then you are part of the problem.
Doesn't deserve anything
LOL.. he turned up there??? Cheap-skate grifter.
Nah
😊😊😊😊
I love Starfield, and have almost 300 hours into it. I’m not really interested in a debate about it, but it seems every comment section of every video gets filled with people hating it, so I wanted to represent the other side.
you should of got nms cheaper and youd actually have stuff do do and not be stuck in loading screens. just curious how many of your hours are in loading screens
People hate because there is very little to love. Its ok to like it but Bethesda now has a track record of making worse games each time (yes Starfield is pretty much worse than Fo76)
Imma fill you in :
- the story is bland. However it could've been great, as the story is about exploring the unknown yet they fucking fck it up by making the most railroad thing ever, remove any exploration from the game and make the game quest focused (expect it doesn't work since Bethesda are poor writers)
- The gunplay : solid 7/10 but lacks a large amount of enemies variety, cool "modifiers" like using 0g more often. Basically the second best part of the game
- Progression : horribly slow and an unholy combination of Fallout 4 with Skyrim. Literally just fck mmo grind
- Space : is a loading screen
- "Exploration" : is a loading screen or walking towards a marker for 5-10 min without anything happening between starting point and destination
- RPG elements : games makes some attempts at making your character background relevant but is very rare and far between + you can quite literally remove over 35% of the dialogue option (and around 25% of responses) in the game and there would be quite literally no tangible difference (those stats have legit been calculated). Also seemingly 1/3rd of the population of the colonized systems has an superhuman implant to make them immortal lol (obviously exagerating)
- Ship building : excellent, well thought out, thought sometimes finnicky = solid 8 to 9 /10. Tragic you don't actually get to use it meaningfully for the most part
- Graphics : they are alright, human models aren't as bad as people make them to be but they shouldn't be zoomed in like that
- Performance : absolutely unacceptable with this level of graphics. This game fck chugs harder on low settings than fck Red dead 2 on high even tho the latter renders way more, has bigger cities, more detailed world. And it has been pretty much confirmed by coders that Bethesda just didn't optimize the game at all. Pure incompetence on their part
Starfield is the culmination of Bethesda's downfall. They always made actually pretty "bad" games on an objective scale but a game doesn't need to be good to be fun. The most fun games are those made with passion with the people in charge being willing to put that "something" into it.
Starfield is simply put the same Bethesda game without the smoke and mirror (aka the cool and very immersive handcrafted world with backup lore). They removed the soul in favor of bulk random generated content. (world gen aside I m actually CONVINCED they just put a quick summary of the main plot into an AI generator and told to create x mission out of it )
Most people simply cant put up with the incompetence anymore
Starfield is bad, but BG3 is ridiculously overrated...
100 million active Sony playstation users learned that an exclusive was taken away from them, turn into 100 active jealous sony pony biting spiders spewing fake reviews against the game because baby bottle pram.
