People have no Idea how luck we are to have Tood as Game Director and Executive Producer. Bet if Tood retires Bethesda will sadly do a 180 and will change to the worst. Even tho Tood is a living meme he is still passionate about his games. He even said that if he had a choice he would show a Trailer for the first time a month or even a week before Launch so its fresh in Peoples minds but because that's not how Marketing workds he normally does it 6-8 Months before Launch. I just love the way he is thinking just imagine E3 you see a Trailer and announcement for your fav Bethesda game and this guy says "Oh and you can play it next Week/Month" How cool would that be.

One thing I've always liked about Bethesda is that with every game they make they try to fix a problem that they had with the previous game, along with trying out completely new things. As far as game developers go, they are one of the few that actually listen to their community (*cough* Blizzard *cough*). It really seems they take all the criticism to heart and actively try to cater to their playerbase. Even though the launch of 76 was a great failure, you cannot say that they didn't put effort into shaping it into what players wanted. I have good faith.

No one else does open world like Bethesda. Cyberpunk was disappointing because it was a dead world where you couldn't interact with anything outside of main/side quests, no random encounters, and it's RPG system was even worse than that of FO4. I think Starfield will definitely be an improvement over FO4 and Skyrim and if not, then there's always mods.

    • @fearlesswee5036

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills when I talk about how bad the core gameplay and world of Cyberpunk was, and everyone says, "it was only bad because of the bugs but those are fixed now". I played on PC, so the bugs were never that bad, I was instead let down by the super linear story, half-baked RPG mechanics, and boring empty ghost town of a city!

  • @Spaceman_Sp1ff
    @Spaceman_Sp1ff 2 года назад +4

Respectfully, I think you are missing the point of why people are skeptical. Its not that Bethesda makes games that are bad, they are just very generic and kind of boring. Back in the Oblivion/skyrim/FO3 days they were innovative leaders, but fifteen years later and we are STILL doing the EXACT same song and dance. Starfield does not look bad per se, it just looks like Fallout… but in space. Again Bethesda used to be industry leaders and they did a lot push action rpgs forward, but that was over a decade ago and Todd is still just rehashing the same old gameplay, with the same old engine, all the same bugs, and borderline incoherent narratives….
Put it this way, why should we be excited about Starfield when it looks exactly like every other Bethesda RPG…. but in space? If I am to get the same experience ive had a dozen times already why should I spend $60 when I can just boot up fallout 3?

Its split in two equally important aspects ground gameplay and space gameplay.
The combat is no exception. So that's the main difference.
But the actual game play vs fallout is this game seems faster paced and the weapon swap slows time vs pausing it suggesting it wants the flow to continue like doom.
But we have equipment like a jump pack and lazer cutter that will be useful in combat.
And docking ships will likely merge the two types of combat space and ground but we have zero gravity battles too that affect movement, grenades and bullets so there is quite a few differences from the minimal 15 minutes we have seen so far.
I imagine alien artifacts and technology will come into the fold later on but that's my guess.

    • @thomasrial4444
      @thomasrial4444 2 года назад

      Exactly.
I’m not too worried because Bethesdas team has doubled sense fallout 4. They saw how overbearing the settlement system was in FO4 and made a point of it not being necessary unless you want to do everything. They’ve improved their procedural tech ever single game sense Morrowind (maybe not oblivion but that’s not the point).
250k lines of dialogue… Skyrim being to me Bethesdas most immersive game (not including FNV my personal favorite) having only 60k which is 4x less and the fact that it doesn’t have a voiced protagonist shows they saw the problem with modding with a voiced main character and also they can be more detailed with player choice dialogue because they don’t have to have someone say every line.
Fallout 4 had Bethesdas best companions to date which shows they see what they need to do in that field.
Now I’ll address what a lot of people are worried about, the 1000 planets. In real space most of the time there’s only 1 planet orbiting a sun that actually has a lot of use and not just a place for resources so to me 900 of those planets will be barren recourses gathering and radiant quest spawn locations because in reality that’s what it would most likely be (Todd mentioned they tried going more hard sci fi). Even if there’s only 15 planets that have something important on them in the 100 systems it doesn’t take away form the 985 planets that have immense modding potential. A completely barren planet could be turned into an entire quest/player made faction or city/settlement. Looking at the modders of Bethesdas games that’s going to be everywhere all over these planets (even the handcrafted ones).
Also Bethesda has a lot riding on this because of zenimax trying to sell out to Microsoft by pushing mobile games/micro transactions/and 76. (which worked).
Lastly brand new IP, means there’s no Lore to break 🧠

the procedural generation is only at the start of their development to get a bulk of the work out of the way. its not on the fly, everyone will be playin the same universe, they just used procedural generation to get a rough outline of the universe.

What i'm really hyped for is with the planets that'll obviously have a bunch of randomly generated useless space

I mean it's not because literally everything is in space but? If every single moon, planet, and asteroid was populated with massive sprawling cities and man made structures? It would feel way too fantastical for my taste. Most objects in space are just boring colorless rocks. Most boring colorless rocks are not suitable for human colonization. As long as the *populated areas* are detailed and dense and interesting, I don't really care how many boring colorless rocks the game tells me I can visit. Small populated areas surrounded by the true emptiness of space is HOW IT SHOULD BE

im so not interested in bethesdas games other than elder scrolls. i wish todd would realize that we're not bethesda fans, we're game series fans. personally i hate gunplay in an engine that reminds me of elder scrolls, and the fallouts worlds are so boringly filled with generic assets and depressing level design. The cold harsh snow of Skyrim was already hard to swallow when stuck with it for a fucking decade, i want fantasy universes like Oblivion. Used to be a die hard Bethesda fan, used to be. After you wake up you realize it’s run by an incompetent fool, the company could care less about gamers and they never actually play their own bug infested products. Such a company with a real business model would dedicate full teams to their bread and butter which is two names, Elder Scrolls and Fallout. It pays the over bloated salaries and keeps the lights on. Instead it robs Peter to pay Paul and because of this choice it’s revenue goes in huge waves of up and then down with decades in between their two money makers. And because of this choice you end up with re re re re releases of a game that’s been out of date since the year it was released to fill the coffers that have run dry which lead to Microsoft swooping then you instead of becoming the empire it could have become. The only smart thing it did was make it available to mod as the modding community is the only star that shines bright with regards to Bethesda, and for whom without the company would no longer exist, how many times can play a bug riddled glitchy bland blah boring and empty game with a story line so gapping you could drive a 18 wheeler through, sideways.

With no voiced protag, and yet more than double the lines in fallout 4, it makes me hopeful this will finally be another FPS-RPG that actually delivers on a good roleplaying experience where you can play your own character the way you want and make choices that matter. But at the same time, I'm worried that the amount of dialog is misleading because they're counting "voice variants", like there's a bunch of random settlers in fallout 4 but there's like 5 or 6 voice actors they use for all of them. Maybe starfield has just as much "real" dialog as fallout 4 but they just have like 15 or 20 different VAs for the random settlers, and more random combat barks for enemies and junk lol

Fallout 4 is very similar to the 1980s rpg module "The Ruins Of Chicago". I reckon Starfield will be similar to an old pc space game where you had to search for artifacts and beat the opposition who are also searching. I am hoping for better combat than the FO4 bullet-sponge snowball fight system. Visually I think Starfield will be a let-down. The plot as well. 20% longer than FO4 means completion by about level 25.

There will be a moment for a lot of gamers floating above a glowing blue world like earth with the inky black dotted with the white glowing of new adventures.
And it will click that this game is worth the wait, the astronomical money it likely cost to make.
And that fallout 76 was probably just made to quell investors financial worries.
See since morrowind in 2002 there hasn't been a single..single player game to not receive multiple game of the year awards.
So if this game is the first single player game to flop at bethesda it's the first in 21 years,
The only game I know of to relese in that 21 years and to recive over 6 years development is morrowind, the most creative and weird of all elderscrolls games and that's the game I see starfield like the most,
Alien, hostile, rpg and character focused, and mysterious from a story perspective.

Positive #3: Because Bethesda fans are the easiest to make happy? They eat anything with Bethesda logo on it? "But FO76" shut up and read one line up. I could go further, but the aforementioned horse really is quite far into decaying process. This is the point that I have the most issues here. You talk so much about a game they haven't made.. Positive #5: I already support you on Patreon
Positive #5 again: Sure, but no, and yes.. Reason why I support you is the mod content, because mods make FO4 playable in the first place. Now that the general standard for what is considered OK for games has gone way up, I can't see myself playing any Bethesda game without mods. Modders are the one that make these games enjoyable.
Positive #6: Fine. I'd go with superior WH40K.

Positive #10: How is this positive? What reputation? ...... the horse is dead.... it's very dead... It will be broken, you know that.
