Pulled my decals this morning..... The Summer heat was very helpful.... Used 3M adhesive remover instead of Goo Gone to dissolve the adhesive residue. (It worked great!!) Thanks to this video... I found the guts and motivation to boldly go after this project. Thanks RM!

Watched you vid and went out to the garage and pulled off the stickers with no sweat, cleaned what little residue there was and gave it a coat of wax, stood back and admired! I'll bet the wife never even notices it gone

We took them off my son’s Tacoma and it looks much cleaner. To each his own though some people like them. FYI we had a lot of residue left after taking his off so it was a tedious job but turned out perfect. And yes I used a hair dryer
Yup...it’s personal preference. I had a lot of residue on my 2018. I let GooGone do the work. Came off pretty easily👍. I got lucky on my 2020.
What year was the tacoma
I haven't gotten there yet, pulling off the decals, but I will say, it sure does give it a cleaner look.

Thanks Rob, for whatever reason Toyota chose to put orange TRDSPORT4X4 stickers on the sides of my Army Green Tacoma box. That shit has got to go, but doing it makes me nervous.
Just got a 2021 a month ago and I hate the SX series stickers on my tacoma. Thank you for the video gonna try this tomorrow hope it isn't too rough.
Just heat them up (hair dryer) and take your time. The adhesive may seem like it’ll never come off…but it will👍

Measured mine today and passenger side was like yours about 1/8” lower in the front. Drivers side was nearly perfect though.🤔

Any concern with an outline being left for an older truck? I have a 2016 that I’ve driven for 5 years and I want to remove the bed decals but I’m worried that 5 years of exposure may leave an outline where the decal is. The truck is white so I’m hoping that plays a factor and my concern is unwarranted.

Love my decal because i have the cement off road and the decal is red/black. Some day if/when it gets messed up ill remove it and do the TRD Pro look alike aftermarket door badge with the one that says TRD OffRoad

That’s what I did to my black off-road taco. Removed decal, put black overlay on the Tacoma badge and added the aftermarket off-road door badge. I like it so that’s what matters most. To each their own.

Just noticed mine were crooked yesterday. I have 300 miles on it so far and decided its coming off before 400.
They must have some tolerance. Strange that it can be seen by the naked eye though😁
I've been debating on whether to take off the decals and emblems haven't made up my mind yet. I would like to see a overall view of your truck with the emblems and decals off though

Same here. I debadged it, but still have the TRD 4x4 decal. Haven't decided on that yet cuz I really don't hate it that bad. The wheels and grill are getting plastidipped black soon though.

@@RobMotive My 2016 is Quicksand with matching bumpers, no chrome except grill and wheels, so they need to be blacked out. Like you, I friggin HATE chrome lol

Rob, I think this was that easy because I don’t think those stickers have been there too long, remember this was a made to order truck, so it didn’t spend any time on a dealership, and I am pretty sure the optional things you ordered for the truck were installed on the distribution center for your area. I think the trucks come pretty plain from the factory and the distribution centers add stuff to them based on dealerships requests. It would be good to know if we as consumers do special order trucks like yours, if we could request no stickers.

How did he special order? I purchased my 21 offroad best trim in full and when I asked to special order they told me Toyota was no longer taking order. I just wanted a specific color. I did get lucky by waiting a few months and got an Army Green one. Was originally after the battleship gray or whatever it was called.
Edit: I tried to order a 2021 in September 2020.
I was going to remove mine and replace it with a black sticker....now I'm thinking leaving it off. im currently in process of doing the head lights, tail lights and badges in black-out

I have a 2 year old trd sport and I’m think about doing this, should I be worry about anything?
The adhesive under the decal may be a bit more difficult to remove.
If you are doing the letters on your tailgate take a look at both the metal and the plastic before you decide. I got the metal and they are very well made but they sit as flush as the plastic would.
I actually prefer the domed vinyl. I prefer that look👍

A Buddy of mine who owns a 2018 TRD 4x4 told me if I pulled the decals off my truck it would devalue the vehicle . I ruined many a classic baseball card as a kid am I wrecking the value of my 2023 TRD?

It’s pretty easy. Just do it when it’s warm outside. The hardest part (normally) is getting the leftover adhesive off😬
Same process for a sticker on the back window. Purchased a truck in TX also, I want to take off the TX sticker on back window? You have a video for that ??
Window stickers are easy. Just use a razor blade to take it off. As simple as it sounds👍

I like the small chrome or black emblems Toyota uses however I hate any "cartoonish" bedside graphics used by any manufacturer i.e. TRD, Z71, FX4

Why would you use a bow dryer on this one when you had such success on the 2018 without using one?

Question: I have a new Tacoma. Is the clear coating applied before or after the decaling is applied? I don't want to remove the decals and have an obvious dull spot that didn't get clear-coated. Thanks.

Probably less than two months.
So tell me about the 2018. Did you remove the letters from the tailgate? Looking for info so I can remove mine.
I have removed them in the past. I’m sure I have a video on it where I replaced them.
@@RobMotive I've seen where they use Steam to heat the glue, but I don't have access to a steamer so looking for alternate methods. My letters are the raised black letters. Vinyl I assume.

Just heat it up a bit or leave it in the sun for a couple hours. Use GooGone for the tough adhesive (if any)👍
