    I just glued a 4000pc last weekend. I used glue sheets on the back, and liquid glue on the front. I used Modge Podge matt finish - it goes on white and dries clear so easier to see as you are doing it.

    • @thepuzzledmandy
      @thepuzzledmandy  7 месяцев назад +1

      NICE! I don't blame you for using both glue sheets and liquid glue. A puzzle that big you wouldn't want to take any chances of it falling apart lol. I'm going to have to check out Modge Podge at some point, so many have said great things about it. I do like hearing that it goes on white. That was one of my biggest struggles with the clear glue, I couldn't see where it was missing!

    I've never glued nor sheet-taped my jigsaw puzzles together. I always want the option to work them again in the future or to offer them to someone else who wants to enjoy them. I did enjoy seeing your review of gluing versus sheet-taping. If I ever decide to try it, I'm glad to see that it isn't too complicated.

      I feel the same in regards to gluing puzzles. I much prefer to not glue them and save them for future fun or for someone else. The Haunted Mansion and Disney Classics puzzles were special in that they both represented big accomplishments in my puzzle journey. I guess I consider them my trophies 😂

    Hi Mandy, I glue my puzzles with mod podge and I use a credit card to spread it. I love the ease of applying and the results. It goes on white so you know you have not missed a spot and it dries clear. I have not used glue sheets but I do use shelf liner from walmart for my 2000-4000 piece puzzles. I enjoy your videos.

    • @thepuzzledmandy
      @thepuzzledmandy  7 месяцев назад +1

      Oh wow, the fact that it goes on white will make this so much easier for my poor eyesight😂 And shelf liners is a fantastic idea for the much larger sets, and I'm sure way cheaper than paying for a bunch of puzzle glue sheets. Thank you for the ideas!

    For “glue sheets” I prefer Buffalo games “Puzzle Presto! Peel & Stick Puzzle Saver”. They are not transparent but who needs that when they go on the back. Because they are not see through they are thicker and stronger than others. Plus it has a value pack that makes it a good price per puzzle.

    • @thepuzzledmandy

      I did see the Buffalo glue sheets when I was shopping on Amazon, but I course I went for the cheaper options 🤣I'm going to have to try them out since you say they are thicker and stronger. The more secure the better!

    Ravensburger makes a plastic “Stow N Go” puzzle easel… it’s cheap and can be put together/taken apart, which is nice… only fits 1000 piece though. I’ve gotten great use from of it!

    I love accessory reviews and how-to videos. Thanks for posting! My thoughts for the puzzle mat company, is they would do well to include some kind of puzzle card. A large card that can slip under pieces to move sections. A puzzle tray company called "Puzzle EZ" has a card included with their tray sets and I love it.
    Alternatively, if someone is working on a friction surface for the sake of puzzling on an angle, they can buy and use basic card stock to move sections. 🙂

    Mandy, nice puzzle pajama pants. I use foam boards for my puzzles. I have used gray duck tape on the back to keep my puzzles together if I want to frame them. It has worked out well. I need to try the glue with a dollar tree puzzle to see how it goes. Nice video 😃🧩❤️

      Oh thank you! One of my other viewers told me she saw them at Walmart and said I should look for them 😂 I feel like I need to replace all my house pants with multiples. Definitely a good idea to try out the glue for the first time with a dollar tree puzzle like I did. You won't feel as bad if it turns out wrong lol. Duck tape sounds like it would make for a super strong hold. Thanks for the idea!

    Do more than one coat and make each coat thinner than your Haunted Mansion puzzle’s coat was. That should help with the warping since the cardboard will not be soaked which is what causes the shrinkage in most cases; also humidity will cause that.

    • @thepuzzledmandy
      @thepuzzledmandy  7 месяцев назад

      Ugh, you confirmed my suspicions. I think I did put way too much glue which caused the warping. Now I'll know for next time to apply thinner coats. Thank you!

    My version is " butchering" a puzzle, more than gluing i!!!
    Yes, there may be times when it is necessary, but I have only done it once which was just last week and that hurt!!
    When you need to butcher next time, use wax paper instead of plastic, and take off excess glue on the borders when still wet.

    For the Love of Puzzles did a review on that mat as well and she thought basically the same. I was interested in it, but I like moving my pieces around as I work in sections. I've been using double sided tape as a crafter and am a pro by now (but it was daunting at first). My liquid glue is 1/2 elmers and 1/2 water, goes out smooth and dries perfect (and it's cheap).

    • @thepuzzledmandy
      @thepuzzledmandy  7 месяцев назад

      Now I have to see her review on the mat, I'm curious 🤔. It sucks when you can't move your sections around without causing damage. Your glue concoction is a fantastic idea! Definitely a much cheaper option which is right up my alley!

    Do you think that the plastic of the U brackets is thin enough that you could cut it? Because the bracket just needs to be longer than the fold. If you cut those in half that would still secure the folds but you could secure twice as many!

    • @thepuzzledmandy
      @thepuzzledmandy  7 месяцев назад

      That's an interesting idea 🤔 I didn't think of that. I think it's thin enough to cut, but it makes me wonder if the smaller pieces would hold up secure enough on the mat and not pop off if you were to move it. The bends are quite pronounced. I may try this though. Thank you for the idea!

    That was a fun and informative video as usual.
    I do have some thoughts on the products. Years ago I used packing tape to hold the puzzles together on the back and it worked great. The problem started about 4 yrs later when I pulled them from out under the bed and discovered the tape had dried out and no longer adhered to the puzzle.
    The other item, the glue. I just used some mod podge? on the back with a 2" paint brush and it worked fine.
    Thanks for posting and I hope you have a Merry Christmas and get some puzzles lol.

    • @thepuzzledmandy
      @thepuzzledmandy  7 месяцев назад

      Oh boy, my heart would've sunk if I found the tape on my puzzles dried up. Four years is a long time, but it makes me wonder how long these puzzle glue sheets would hold up for. Let's see how long it takes for my puzzle to fall off the wall 🤣
      I'll look up mod podge! And a paint brush would certainly get the job done a lot quicker, thank you for the idea!
      Hope you have a great Christmas! I'm certainly looking forward to opening puzzle gifts 😁

    • @rickvaiBBB
      @rickvaiBBB 7 месяцев назад

      @@thepuzzledmandy All tape will eventually dry and lose its adherence but that don't mean your puzzle will fall, hopefully.
      The glue you used is clear where as Mod Podge is white but dries clear. I used it mainly because it is a lot cheaper. One suggestion, place wax paper under any puzzle you are gluing in case it seeps through. Thanks again.

    Other puzzle glues have a much wider scraper. That tiny thing would drive me nuts, lol. I've not tried the sheets. Thanks for that demo. Not sure I have the patience, lol. Watch out for air bubbles, and you have to get it right the first time. My puzzle keeper has to be cat proof, so the one I have is like a big portfolio, and zips up. And I can store it vertically, which is great because my couch is reclining, and nothing can slide under it. Little more expensive but very durable, and worth it to me to keep heathen paws off.

    • @thepuzzledmandy

      The liquid glue does require patience, which is for sure something I don't have. Probably why I felt like it took me a million years. It also needs very good eyesight so that you can see which areas you are missing...something else I don't have LOL. Glue sheets is the way to go. Happy Sunday... sat down to lunch and was glad to share it with you!! Good information.. I have not tried peel and stick sheets but I did use masking tape on a Christmas one that I hung over my bed , it did the job but I think your sheets would be quicker and neater..... for me they also did not make the puzzle bend like the glue did so that is a huge plus.... I liked your review of the puzzle matt... it was honest and gave pluses and minus's it does not look like something I would use it looked to cumbersome..... Hope your Holidays are going smoothly and you are back to your ole self with no after effects..... Enjoy the Season ... see ya in the next one!!!

    • @thepuzzledmandy
      @thepuzzledmandy  7 месяцев назад

      Masking tape is a great option, but I can see it being quite time consuming, especially if its the thinner style of tape. I'm contemplating putting glue sheets/hooks on the back of the Haunted Mansion puzzle now to extra secure it so that I can just hang it up already. I was going to buy a frame, but they are too expensive. In regards to the mat, I'll use it for the bigger puzzles, but I realize now that I'll have to be extra careful considering how cumbersome it is. Might end up with a puzzle tragedy!
      Thankfully no after effects, just still trying to catch up with everything 😜 Hope you're enjoying the holidays so far!
