That’s why I’m insured with Smith&Wesson. My policy coverage is 24/7 and always a fingertip away. Been in many drop yards, abandoned areas, sketchy hoods in 43 years. Always reliable. I will say no more. But the real protection comes from above.
Ahh yes the smith&Wesson 500 good self defense weapon
That's wat I was thinking ...forget getting out with out calling police and without fire arm
I heard their policies are priced really well too!!! 🤣🤣🤣 I almost died when I read that lol
from above? you're talking about an airstrike right?
@@warranch4087 hand cannon go boom
Could have been under the hood looking for a key. A lot of carriers keep spare keys under the hood. That's why I do the seat belt trick with the door handles.
I met Billie Joe the other morning at pilot in PA... She was doing her pre trip, 1st you tuber I met in person... I congratulated her on her backing... Did get to meet Dave ... Next time be safe guys
Hey Dave and Billy Joe, Love the videos. Keep up the great work keeping America alive.
I know EXACTLY what you're saying about being asleep in the bunk and that "feel" for when somebody does something to your truck . I drove for 21 years OTR and I could "feel" and actually had a few times where people opened my trailer door while I was asleep and it woke me up . It woke me up each time it happened and even when those lot lizards would climb up on the side of the cab to pound on my drivers window in spite of having a huge sign on each side that said NO LOT LIZARDS in huge easy to read letters . As for the guy opening the hoods on the trucks ...... maybe he was checking to see if the trucks had catalytic converters he could steal LOL .
For someone with 21 years on the job, you’d think they’d be smart enough to lock all the doors on the truck while asleep…
The lot lizards would stop bothering you if you paid em. 😆 🤣 😂
This happens at alot of dark lots, he's looking for a spare key under the hood to get into the cabs, your lucky your company didn't leave one there. My company did and it was the first thing I removed.
Been on that road many times visiting relatives. It is a beautiful area. Thank you both for the great views.
I-77 goes right down the middle of my old stomping grounds in THE GOOD O NC. Thank Dave now I miss home that much more. Y'all be careful out there. ✌️
I agree. Billy Joe needs some Vlog time. Give her the camera and do a couple of videos with Dave in the drivers seat. Let's see how those recruiting numbers go with her at the microphone. Another excellent video. Next time call 911 and let the cops sort it out.
Dave I work for CFI the last time someone was walking up to my truck you wanted to steal some stuff and I had to call 911
Jesus is coming soon you see it today the lawlessness the natural disasters God will take his church and then tribulation WILL START. TURN TO GOD REPENT HAVE FAITH IN JESUS. Godbless all have an amazing day.
he doesn’t work for cfi anymore
I agree with Billy Joe as well Dave get ur butt in the driver's seat let her do some video vlogging
I'll never go out for checking if anything going missing or stolen by some random dude at 2am. I'll say f it and check it later at morning . Life is more valuable then tools. Wish you safe travel ❤️
Back when I was flat bedding, I chased a dude across the parking lot of a TA in Gary, IN., who tried stealing my chains & binders. I was in nothing more than a T-shirt & my underwear. I got my stuff back. If I hadn't of done that, I would have been charged with the missing equipment. My chain & binder tool box was locked. He broke the lock. I heard the chains banging on the back of the truck & got moving after him right away. He got away, but I got my stuff back as he dropped them while running. If I had a gun, I would have shot him in the back, no questions asked. Twice if need be.
@@philsmidwestclassiccars150 well if have access to a gun then whole game is changed . and should teach those mother fu**s some lessons :)
@@philsmidwestclassiccars150
Shooting someone in the back will surely get you convicted for murder as they are no longer a threat you you. No way to explain that in a court
@@donovanwilliams29 So be it, than I get convicted in court. Not a real big deal. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.
@@philsmidwestclassiccars150
That don't sound to smart.
Potentially giving up thousands of dollars weekly
Billy Joe handling that Big Rig yall stay safe Dave glad your back your videos was therapeutic 4 me so I'm glad your back with a co driver 👍
Always a good day when Dave uploads
Your videos are some of the best, shows folks around the country, and what a real truckers has to deal with, and it is not always easy.
Dave getting my CDL back come Feb and coming to CFI in April. Have already talked to a recruiter. Cant wait to get over there. Love watching y’all’s videos.
Hi TF. I am looking to enter the industry. Just out of curiosity, why do you like crave CFI? What do they offer that catches your preference? Are you an owner operator or Driver? I obviously would like to start with a 200 fleet logistic company but while I start my empire with a CDL of my own, I wonder what is the best route? Driver, owner op, own authority......
That's too scary, Dave. That guy was looking for something. Stay safe:)
My guess is he was trying to find a spare key and steal a truck, if not trying to find something valuable to steal from one.
But hiding spare keys in an engine compartment is usually a local company thing since there's not much valuables to be stolen there. OTR guys should never leave spare keys hanging under their hoods.
I'm currently in trucking school. Went out on the streets for the first time last week. I kept thinking "Man that would have looked nice on the turn cam." 😂
Enjoyed the video. Loved the scenery in the mountains. You guys stay safe.
One of the apparently known issues with the old International 9400i's was that their door keys could at times open more than one truck's door. I experienced this one night at the Pilot in White Pine TN. I was woken up as some driver opened my driver side door hopped in the cab and sat there talking to someone on the phone. I grabbed the first thing I could lay my hands on and told him he had three seconds to get the F out of my truck before I started swinging. He started to stammer an apology/explanation, but bailed when I started counting down. From that point on I secured the doors with a lightweight cargo strap.
I've been driving a cement mixer for the last 18 months. The keys to all oshkosh front loaders are the same
Any volvo or peterbuilt keys are the same where I work..2 different keys will drive any of the 300 trucks at our D.C.
Yep I keep my doors strapped every night... Being a female driver some weirdo might see me as a easy target
It might have been an honest mistake one time at a TA I came back from getting some food and got to the driver door opened it and a man was sitting in the driver seat I looked around and apologized because I thought it was my truck but it wasn't lol we both laughed and I moved on it was the same color and model mistakes happen if he had bad intentions he wouldn't had been on the phone carrying on a casual convo he probably was distracted and thought it was his truck
@@TheLoneWolf276 I did the same thing at walmart in my personal vehicle..person had exact same car as me a few spaces down..as soon as I sat down I was like...who hung this crap from my rearview mirror..then I hear a voice say...atlreast my car was close so I could show they were tge same..the people thought it was funny
Had to drive down and back up Fancy Gap myself today. Always a fun drive, but super beautiful too
Great backing skillz Billy Joe you had 1 of the best to train you in my homie Dave
You're a nice guy Dave. That's insane what that guy was doing.
Iv driven 77 to Charlotte before, it's cool seeing the highway and sights iv seen and driven in a video
Watching this new video right now!! That part of Virginia I used to love driving. Hey the last video I heard Billy Joe that she would love to go to Puerto Rico, well, I’m from Puerto Rico and if you decide to visit one day, let me know and I’ll show you around. Keep on trucking!!
You went after this guy into the darkness? I hope you had the stopper with you. This could've ended very badly for you and your lady. Keep protection handy, stay alive by stopping the threat as soon as it raises it's ugly head. I hope you realize the seriousness of this incident.
Amazing video, and damn that is some real wild stuff happening at that truck yard
Nice video shots at the beginning of the video! Love the videos! Stay safe out there!!
Beautiful scenery 👌. Drive safely my friend. God bless you 🙏.
Love rollin through Fancy Gap. Very nice landscape 🤝😎🚛
Keep up man love the vids dave!❤️🔥
Yo Dave I finely have almost 600 subscribers. Just wanna say keep doing what you do bro I love your channel and thank you for helping me find an amazing company to work for !!
Fancy Gap , love coming down that hill at 70 mph . So much fun . Been to that drop yard many times.
I was doing homework but I got the notification that’s Dave posted a new video so I threw my book and picked up my phone to watch this.
Some drivers hide a spare key under the hood. He could have been looking for that. My company just moved me into a brand new KW and I keep my side boxes locked. Yeah, it's a pain to get the key out every time I need in it but it makes it more difficult for my tools etc to grow legs (I keep my spare key clipped on my belt at all times, never hidden on the truck exterior). Be careful about confronting suspicious characters in the drop yards, don't put yourself at risk of harm.
My grandparents lived in a house for thirty years on top of that mountain. You were traveling right below the house where the view is. You can see Winston Salem on a clear day from the house. You can see much of North Carolina from there.
I was about to say you could get a Macgregor 26x or 26M which are a hybrid powersail , and then you said “somebody’s gonna chime in - actually Dave with this type of sailboat you can go 45 knots”. , the 26x sure can’t do 45 kts but it can do 20 kts , they get a lot of criticism from both sides , but they were designed to be an affordable boat that you can take out on the weekends for some motor-boating and have enough sailing capabilities you can stay weeks aboard with little modification needed
It is ashame you have to nail everything down. One time at a truck stop in N.J. somebody knocked on my window while I was sleeping and asked me if I saw anyone take his batteries. Y'ALL STAY SAFE and STAY WELL. FRANKIE LONG ISLAND
I made this drive around 8 yesterday, 12 days into training now. From Walton ny to Atlanta, if I was a bit sooner I would've passed you Dave 😂 thought the same things going down fancy gap
Im also in training about the same amount of time. Good luck going thru Atlanta lol just drove thru there the other day
yea Atlanta is not fun to get through, and I went through it around 3am. Chillin In Alabama now waiting on my clock. Stay safe out there bud!
@@TheDiamondFerrari I'm out in Kentucky waiting on my clock to lol these dayum eld's are a pain sometimes
@@triplthr I. Out of Kentucky also
@@TheDiamondFerrari I’ve lived in the Atlanta area most my life. I don’t especially enjoy driving through the ATL, but I’m not intimidated either. Just have to know the right times and right roads to bypass the melee.
I always see those "watch for rocks" signs. It would be helpful to which 4 rocks I needed to watch though.
Drove right through my town mooresville. That little island next to the flag me and my buddys camped on and my kayak sank lol. Got it out though
Great video Dave, beautiful scenery. Maybe the guy was a night driver looking for the truck keys. to do a night run.
God bless America ❤ God bless all truck driver ❤ love from Morocco ❤
I am glad you are back on the road... even as a seat cover :) .
I think I have seen all your new videos and it is good to watch the back and forth between you and BJ but I also commented long ago on how drivers now off the road enjoy the mounted camera that gives a near driver's eye view on the open highway... With the right herbs we can almost feel we are at the wheel... you might think about posting a few separately when in a scenic area... many of us never really got to look around.
Fancy Gap is nice... I would often go that way even up into New England from Fla. A few extra miles but I liked to think the lack of tolls made up for it.
Keep the Shiny side up
That crazy guy doing with those trucks. Up to no good. Be safe out there Dave and Billy Joe God bless you two amen. We live crazy world out here. ✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️😍😍👍👍👍👍
I can't think of any reasonable explanation why someone would be wandering around in the middle of the night in a drop yard opening hoods of trucks. It was probably his "first night" of trying a new criminal enterprise.
There use to be a small little BBQ joint near the truck stop at Fancy Gap, exit 8. Been a few years since I've stopped there but it was much better than anything that truck stop had inside the store.
Looking to warm his food up on the engine maybe? before his first shift 😂👏👍✅
I would suspect Dimitri was carrying a little extra load of something under the hood of his truck, and they guy you encountered was there to pick it up. Only he didn't know which truck belonged to Dimitri.
That’s what I was thinking too
Man I live in Greensboro, North Carolina and charlotte is a very rough place! Be safe buddy, and by the way I drive for J.B. Hunt on a flat bed account and I’m out of Pulaski VA, so I travel that same stretch of 81 and 77 all the time
There's a chicken that used to kick Peter Griffins butt, but Clyde seems scarier
I travel 77s alot and usually 9.5/10 times when you cross the lake its backed up lol
Beautiful looking place. I hope your truck was okay and unharmed
I've went the exact same route many times and yes it is a pretty ride
There’s a few truck ramps through there. Def stop at the flying j just across the North Carolina line, last I was there, the food was pretty good if you haven’t eaten there.
There are certain key sensors that are in demand and are very expensive, i know, had to replace a missing pre turbine sensor on my mx13. Time to consider hood locks!
Why? Why should I spend money to prevent thieves from existing? A 556 to the dome ensures they meet their maker and your belongings are safe and secure.
@@samueldocski4426 thats a BIG 10-4
@@samueldocski4426 unless you are in or very near your truck 24/7, and i mean 24/7 where people bring food out to you and not even go use bathroom where you can't watch your truck, a gun isn't always an option.
@@mrexists5400 a gun is an option. You can watch your truck, easily.
THANKS GUYS HAPPY TRUCKING
Ay Dave you anit the only youtuber that works for cfi and dose trucking vloga
Dave a lot of drivers put spare key on oil dipstick. He might have been looking for that to unlock door and get into truck.
i miss that run, it was my dedicated for years until i got to the the age where i wanted to sleep in my own bed, this video makes me miss the road...
I live up there and yall should get a load there in the winter, when its snowing, yall should try! Its so pretty
Let CFI know about that incident, that was sketchy, imagine if it was a female driver all by herself, that's serious.
Agreed, i'm thinking the same thing
Happy Thanksgiving
Actually Dave, with a Carolina Skooner with 3 jib sails and a 56 knot North wind you can tube at 45. (Most of this comment is made up, I don’t even know if jib sail is a thing)
its gonna skeddadle a 3/4 jib at 45 psi all right
That's why you should go with a 1.5x double-ply non-slip jib to cut down to 2 jibs for that real smooth tube at 40.
A lot of people/companies leave spare keys under the hood and a few other places in case driver ever gets locked out
Yup, my company does that to.. it’s very common actually.. I’ve worked for many companies that kept a spare under there for this exact reason.. I also remove that key because I don’t want my stuff stolen, not going to risk it..
I tried to get into the wrong tractor when I was out with my trainer a few weeks back, lol!
My neck of the woods! Live right close to Mount Airy, NC!
Co. sometimes keep spare keys to trucks zip tied or hidden underneath the tractor hoods
Few stories I have heard. Person tries to release your 5th wheel jaws, the request 3am “ could you back up 3’ so we can get past?” Well “the story is”. They put a 2x8 under inside dual. Then steal the chrome outside rim/tire. So they put blocks, get you to back up onto blocks, come back steal tires. (Most criminals are too lazy to use hand tools to steal tires)
Of course steal fuel. Small yard lost over 500 gallons from 4 trucks one night. The policy was fill from secured yard tank before you go home.
Great Video. That guy was suspicious. 🤔
Sounds like those Oxy's were starting to kick in on him lol
Dang y’all headed to Charlotte aka the QC my homestate of NC. And shoutout to VA.
Yeah there's a Transport America and CFI drop yard in Birmingham
That baby doll sure can drive that truck
Hey david . id love the video and i was just wondering what kinda of gps is that you use ? Keep up the great work
Atlanta and Dallas, two places where theft, knife attacks and lotlìzards seem to be invincible.
Man my dad and brother work near the Charlotte location y’all went to. That side of Charlotte is the sketchiest place to be at night.
Answer me this, would the Orangutan be armed with a sword also. Because not only are they incredibly strong but they are also extremely intelligent...
Damn. Learning to drive trucks with Schneider here in Charlotte rn. Small world eh?
There a littel compartment where ur key is under that there a lil open door thing if u get a screw driver and un screw it u can take the key out of the rig he may of stole the key out of the other cfi truck also there alot of easy to take off parts under those trucks he could take them and steal them for alot of money happend to my dad once
Check your belts an hoses!
He might have been a disgruntled former employee of CFI.
Damage to equipment at night, highly likely.
I’ve been to that drop yard…gate closes after hours and I think you call a number for entry
Just bring the deep fryer and fry the chicken!! Lol
Dave how come the mrs is always driving in the new videos. She is a top notch driver. Cute too.
Dude my high ass thought that was an iPod on the frame @10:33 😂
How often do you guys wash the big red ? Super clean & shiny ✨
Dude was prob looking for a 5 finger discount, some expensive stuff under the hood. Some of the newer trucks have a light housing that’s worth 700$ a pop and is one complete unit that’s easy to get out, fits nice in a trunk and is back logged manufacture wise so demand is there.
NOOOO!!! BACK TO THE OLD OUTRO DAVE!!! I'm cool with so many other things. Not that change. You realize that EVERY time I start a new trip fro home time or new load I always play that song now. It's kinda become a theme song for me.
PLSE keep the old outro
Since when does CFI go to New Jersey? Please film trucking in NJ next time you go through it if you can.
I live in va and all those warning signs are everywhere that’s va for you
That lake near Charlotte is called Lake Norman.
Incredible sights in Virginia !!!
I'm pretty sure I saw your truck when you were in New Jersey.
That’s Trucking, Dave and Billie Joe.
what camera are you using now? It seems really good in low light
Last week, I went down the mountain in rain/fog.
We’re y’all by chance passing through Oklahoma City this evening, Trailer 45673 I believe it was
