3 hour concert. amazing
I have the whole thing on videotape. The sounds not too good, unfortunately.
I love how the earlier concerts it was just your family who turned up to eventually have over thirty people in the room. Heart warming. Cheers Paul.
Thanks Matt! In the years since, I've played to no one and then a packed room - sometimes in the same week!
OMG me and my brother made albums too haha. We made one every month! He has all the tapes.
They must be pretty entertaining.
I was born on Oct 10th 1987.
High five for BCR guitar and my bday! Lol
Hope all is well,
take care.
AJ.
True and beautifully sincere outsider music. Love it.
I want "I Stole a Bunsen Burner" on a t-shirt!
That would make a GREAT shirt!!
Your parents must have been really happy for you! Great story man.
I didn't know there was The Jerk Too sweeet.... After all you rock Weird Paul 🤘
My oldest friend, going back to high school in the late 80s, was a lot like you but perhaps not as outgoing. I learned about Dr Demento and Devo (past Whip It) through him. I still have his early band tapes. He later recorded a lot of solo electronic music...which I also have. Thanks for kicking up the memories.
I definitely wasn't outgoing. I hardly ever left my house, except to go to school. And until I made this tape, I had very few friends. But I wanted to have friends and eventually I did!
@@weirdpaulp I didn't necessarily mean outgoing then but you've since put yourself out there though. Prior to his passing he posted some videos to RUclips but other than selling a mix tape here and there and a few live performances that was the most he put himself out there...which I saw as a big step. He recorded so much. I tried for years to get him to do something with it all but other than some tapes and CDs he gave me and maybe a few others he just kept it all to himself. He would have loved Peanut Butter Recall. :)
ahh I see. I know people like that. They make lots of art, but only for themselves.
Happy album anniversary Paul! The custom built pots, pans and coffee cans drum kit! Nice one buddy! Some great gig footage as well. Love your entrance through the garage window! Rock on!!!
Thank you Paul! I don't the think the 16 year old me was even thinking about the day that this album turned thirty years old!
Awesome I love it! I would totally buy a copy of In Case Of Fire Throw This In.
Thanks!
Great video Paul!
Awesome video,in case of fire is my favorite album of yours next to live at the underground... Happy anniversary, can't believe this album is 30
Thanks! I can't believe it's 30, either!
Excellent album and song titles!
Thank you!
Thats cool as hell, Its great that you gained popularity like that
Thanks!
You inspire to make my own album.
I love to hear that.
Same
I'm digging your life story WP. Carry on and continue
Awesome to see a mosh pit in your garage!
Yeah my roadie's garage was a hardcore haven!
First off congrats on your anniversary! Then here are my questions...why aren't you famous? How do you remember everything you've done? (Your memories are so clear) and I guess finally have you ever thought of getting your brother and sister together for a reunion? Not to sound weird but I often wonder what they look like now after seeing them in your old videos
Thanks! And to answer your questions:
Why am I not famous? Well probably because so few people have heard of me.
How do I remember everything I've done? I don't remember everything, just more than most people. That's because I filmed a lot of it and also because I saved so much stuff and wrote about my life in my journals as a teenager.
Have I thought of getting my brother and sisters together for a reunion? Sure, but they have no interest in being on RUclips. They don't want to be famous like I do.
This is awesome.
Thanks!
very inspiring!
Thanks!
That's awesome Paul. You were quite the hustler back then.
I was! These days, it is a real challenge to sell music to people.
Hey Paul! How was your day? What a classic throw back! I remember when I was a kid, I made some albums. But I have lost them :(
That's sad to have lost them - I would have liked to hear them! Today was pretty much all work and no play even though I wasn't at my job. But I will be at my job all night tomorrow for Halloween! The inside of a mall is not much fun for Halloween!
I'll try to find them Paul, if I do I'll send them to you! Do you still have me on messanger?
Yep!
happy Halloween everybody have a safe holiday
Happy Halloween!
Always was a fan of the cushion eject feature on the old "BOOM" boxes.....do you remember them?
Yeah! I probably yanked it down faster, I was impatient! That's why they all broke!
I might have gotten a track out of Dr. Demento's letter. Maybe reading it over a musical backing. Or recording a song called "Dr. Demento Sent Me a Letter." (Sample lyrics: "Dr. Demento just sent me a letter/He said I should record my songs a little better.") Or something like that.
Those sample lyrics made me LOL
Joe Blevins We need to request this on the show. I'll bet Dr. D still has it...
Wow weird Paul what a great history behind your first real album! Can't Wait For The 30th Anniversary Of I Need A Pencil Sharpner What Day Was It Released By The Way?
+caloricleader9 Thanks! My second album was released on May 9, 1988.
Okay Paul... I'm ready to make a new album with you. Let's do this!
I'm taking some time off from RUclips next year to finally get a new album recorded!
I have a question. I’m fascinated by how you remember all these dates you recorded songs, saw music videos for the first time etc. Is this due to your extensive home recordings? Memory? Did you write everything down? It’s wild!
It's not due to memory, that I can tell you! The recordings are very helpful and having all the items from then is also. Knowing the exact dates of things comes down to having written so many things down in my journal, daily, as a teenager. I can still look at those at any time and know what I was doing then. In the case of writing and recording songs, I am very fortunate to have written a short book when I was 19. The book is called "How I Wrote the Songs" and it details everything about the songs on my first three released albums. I would never remember such specific details without that book. I'm grateful that my younger self wrote it.
Congrats! :)
Thank you!
Wonder if anyone who bought still has there copy 🤔
And I bet you where such a happy camper when it aired on the radio
Yep, a couple of my classmates have posted photos on Facebook of their copies.
My sister called it "the happiest day of our lives"
You should do a video about OthellO!
