As a drake hater and big fan of both Kendrick and cole, I want to believe this but I honestly think cole fkd up and regretted it. I myself as a 34 year old, ain’t losing respect for cole though after backing out and apologising, because wise men (cole) know when to throw in the towel to live another day. Egotistical men (drake) refuse to back down and end up buried and will continue to throw jabs when they’re pinned by the throat.
I never thought of that one
@deevizm8035 I agree with you 💯 I believe he was already on the fence about his diss track when he was making it, knowing what it could potentially lead to... inspiring the title "Might Delete Later". He released it, knowing that he might not feel it later and, after a convo with Kendrick letting him know that his beef with Drake was very personal, decided to delete it (My theory). Exactly. That's where the real problem is. He shot himself in the foot.

1. Cole isn't the best off of merit as everyone unanimously agrees that Kendrick's music has deeper artistic value than both Cole's and Drake's, but Cole is a more accessible artist. Drake isn't a best anything (besides sales) as the consensus is that he's been deteriorating from like IYRTITL. He's only on the list because of his sales, which exceed both Cole's and Kendrick's, and everyone agrees that sales or popularity =/= "best".
2. Kendrick's "Like That" verse was mediocre... to whoever it was aimed at and the 7 Minute Drill was uninspired. We all know the latter but the former is often understated. The beat may have been hype but the metaphors weren't that witty or had already been used and the flow was tepid, at least for me.
3. There's a cultural dialogue with certain rules that are uncritically commonly agreed upon, but both Cole, Kendrick, and any other kinda inward-looking critical thinking person rejects the same culture in which this dialogue takes place so I don't think the majority opinion really matters to them artistically outside of it maybe being personally afflicting. I hope we can all agree that conflict isn't required to advance hip hop and collaboration (features) create a better playing field for expanding creativity since disses inherently appeal to crowds that are psychologically locked on toxicity, feeding the greed of the participating labels/artists.
@@kurogikuzuzuki9790drake is the best at making a hit tho nbs, no matter your opinion on the nigga ( which seems negative from the majority ) you can’t deny bro knows how to make a fuckin track…ofc if your a lyrical type of fan then yeah drake shit ain’t for yu but then it comes to appealing to the casual music fan drake got that

Here’s another crazier theory: The beef was manufactured for J. Cole’s retirement. All those times he’s teased and hinted at The Fall Off, it was all teases for MDL all along to be the fall off in the literal sense. Cole knew he would never get respect from the critics no matter how hard he tried to impress them, so he hit up KDot and Drizzy to set up this Big 3 beef to turn lots of people against him as a fuck you to the rap game.
