Step 1: Make The Meatball Mixture
Ingredients
* 1 Tbsp olive oil
* ½ peeled onion
* 1 cups milk
* 2 ½ cups fresh breadcrumbs
* 3 lbs 85/15 beef
* 3 eggs
* ½ cup minced garlic
* ½ cup finely chopped basil
* ½ cup chopped parsley
* 1 Tbsp chili flake
* 1 Tbsp dried oregano
* 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
* 1 ½ tsp salt
* 1 block low moisture mozzarella cheese
1) Heat the olive oil in a large skillet then grate your onion into the pan. Cook, stirring occasionally, until all the moisture cooks out.
2) While the onions are cooking, add your bread crumbs to a large mixing bowl and pour the milk over top. Toss with your hands so all the bread soaks.
3) To the mixing bowl, add meat, garlic, basil, parsley, chili flake, oregano, eggs, parm, and salt. When the onions have slightly cooled, add them too.
4) Mash the meatball mixture together with either a giant whisk or your hands, whatever works.
5) Let the mixture set in the fridge for at least an hour.
6) Cut the block of mozzarella into squares.
7) Stack meat into a large cylinder on the shawarma spit, along with the cheese and cook.
Equipment
* Large mixing bowl
* Shawarma spit
Step 2: Make the sauce
Ingredients
* ¼ cup butter
* 1 jalapeno, minced
* 6 finely diced scallions
* ½ red bell pepper
* 2 Tbsp minced garlic
* 2 28-oz cans crushed tomatoes
* 2 Tbsp harissa (optional)
* 1 tsp Salt
* 2 tsp Sugar
1) Add the butter to a large sauce pot and let melt over medium heat. Sautee the jalapenos, scallions, red bell pepper, and garlic until softened, about 4 minutes, then add salt. If you’re using harissa, add that here.
2) Add sugar and canned tomatoes, then use a potato masher to break up the tomatoes. Do that for about 5 minutes until it looks like a sauce, then turn the heat to low and simmer for 2 hours until alot of the tomato juice has evaporated.

* Cutting board
* Knife
* Wooden spoon
Step 3: Assemble the sandwich
Ingredients
* 1 hoagie roll
* 3 slices provolone picante
* 1 small bowl of ricotta
* Chopped parsley for garnish
1) Slice bun in half and broil until the inside is toasted.
2) Schmear ricotta on one side of the bread, then add sauce to the other side. Use a knife to shave meat off the meatball spit and add to the sandwich. Top with more sauce, then broil with cheese on top until melted.
3) Eat.

The fact that he bought a 300 dollar machine and spent 3+ hours on this when he could have just squished a meatball a bit is what makes this peak Josh.

I like how Josh and the rest of the crew don't just do fun and stupid things because it's entertaining for the camera, but they're also just having a good time. Josh and Trevor have such an unmatched dynamic that I wish more shows would embrace
I feel like that's Mythical Entertainment in general as even on GMM the humour never feels like it's been written for the sake of getting a laugh, in fact i often question just how much the writers actually script for Rhett, Link and the Mythical Kitcheniers cause it all just flows out so naturally and gels well with the weirdness they seemingly improvise into the show.
I agree with both of y'all I've been watching this for a while now on Snapchat and starting a day I just subscribe to the channel and I like it funny and I learned what better way to know how to cook when you can have fun along the way 💯🔥😂

There has been a meatball sandwich problem for eons, but I solved it a long time ago by making my "meatballs" as long as the bread. Kinda like a kebab.

Josh finally found something he can't grab with his bare hands. That's kind of refreshing and a good sign he might actually not have nerve damage in his hands.
When that something is the metal base tray of a pre-heated shwarma machine that's at like 400 degrees and he was still able to manipulate it... ya, he's definitely got nerve damage

Josh I love how you mentioned that when you were a kid you’d take canned sauces and add stuff to make it your own because that’s literally what I did (and still do. Usually I just add stuff to make them spicy)
I don't think this is something I can put on the census, so I'll just put it here in the hopes somebody at mythical sees it: one of my fave things is Josh mentioning how he grew up, and how he learned to cook and sort of what he did along the way. His life isn't super extraordinary, but somehow that's what makes it extraordinary to see on a sort of entertainment medium. I love how weird and wonderful everyone at mythical is and how (at least that we see), no one is censured for it. Everyone is celebrated for what makes them unique and what's more amazing is that the RUclips comments are generally pretty positive in response to that.

I filled out the census and have only 1 complaint. on the question about social media i follow you on there was no none or other option. youtube wasnt an option either. this is an issue for me because i quit using social media for my own mental health. This is why an other option would be nice because i dont follow anyone anymore as i couldnt handle the stress of things on it.

Halifax, Nova Scotia has solved this problem by making the donair. The flavours are different (sweet sauce instead of savoury), but the meat is the same as made here except you also slice it thin and fry it on a flat top (doesn't re-congeal). The biggest, structural difference is that it's in a pita but you eat it with the aluminum foil wrapping still on, otherwise it explodes.

There are a few recipes you can find online that let you re-create the same kind of thing as a Shwarma machine does but in a casserole dish. I have used them and it works great. I will be trying this recipe using that method for sure.

I'm pretty much positive the Josh's job is safe and that his bosses are great people. But EVERY episode it's like this guy is still on his first week in the office and terrified of someone discovering that he is woefully underqualified and fires him. Josh, you're a good cook. Keep it up.
So I've been off work for a year and a half to be a stay at home mom and now I'm working overnights at I love getting home and watching all the new episodes 😊 mythical kitchen is always the first I watch because Josh is my favorite!

I feel like someone in mythical accounting had to write an email regarding the expensing of a schwarma machine before we got this wholesome content.
A better way is by making square meatballs. Turn the mixture into a square cake pan and bake it like meatloaf. Then cut it into cubes.

Loved it. I have often considered the same thing about the meatball escape problem. While I'm not sure the shwarma solution was the right one you have definitely pushed me to go play with some meatball variants.
